    So many things done wrong in one video...
    First, The bore gauge has to get zeroed in a micrometer. The tool you used is not anywhere precise enough.
    Second, Never ever use sandpaper to deck a block.
    Third when honing a Block, never stay on a spot. You have to do fast up and down movements. Otherwise the bore will be oval after your honing.
    Fourth, Never ever use Rod bolts or main cap bolts again. These are like Head bolts a one time usage product.
    Also new oil pumps arent that expensive. The Oil pump is one of the major things of an engine and I would never put a used oilpump on a fresh engine. Nevlock has Oil Pumps from KS in Stock which are cheaper as oem ones.

      This wasn't a precision matching video, the bore gauge was to check consistently down the bore rather than to an exact size, the block wasn't decked, just removed any odd bits of old gasket or corrosion from the water ways, and the hone was just a quick deglaze, nothing to take any significant material away. I do agree on your points.

    • @thejeterlp
      @thejeterlp 2 года назад

      @@SuperRon You cant take much material away with that honing tool anyways, but making fast movements is a must on that things, even when its only a quick deglaze mate :)

    Hi what sort of price would this kind of rebuild/refresh cost me im in uk

    • @SuperRon
      @SuperRon  7 месяцев назад +1

      I think the machine work was about 500-600, the gaskets, belt and pumps were about 300, so with labour probably around £1500 at a guess

    hello, what should be the tightening torques of the piston rod bolts and crank bolts? do you have angle? While watching your videos, I thought that I could open the Z20LER astra h gtc engine of my own vehicle and opened it. I am replacing rings, piston rod bearings and crank bearings.

    • @SuperRon
      @SuperRon  2 года назад +1

      For the Z20let it is:
      Tighten: 35Nm
      Tighten: 45 Degrees
      Tighten: 15 Degrees.
      Not sure on other models

      There used to be a really good website on the forums back in the day that gave you everything for the c20let but I think that's long gone now. I dont think any haynes manuals cover the c20let unfortunately

      Oh I see, sorry. I think I measured them at 0.017" - 0.018", this was a few weeks ago now. I didn't have to re gap any, they were all good enough, General rule of thumb is bore x 0.005" = ring gap for turbos.
