new to the channel, but learning alot as im very new to the automation world.enjoyed the video very informative, wanted to ask do you have any video's on the siemens g120x vfd
I built my own trainer; it's mostly an arrangement of components I purchased separately. I have a license through the projects I work on. It is fairly expensive.
In the very end of the video, the green button is pressed. The plc receives this input. Then, the ethernet wire energizes the VFD? Is that how it works?
@@SolisPLC Thanks for your assistance. I still don't understand completely, but I need to keep on studying. I need to continue and one day I will get it
@@АндрейСидоров-ц3ж Sorry about that. The video was already long, so I left out certain parts. I'll try to step through the process in a separate video.
There is a coil inside the VFD correct? And when it gets energized it closes the contacts which sends power out to the motor. So, is the ethernet wire energizing the coil? Is it power of Ethernet type wire?
Hi Greg, not exactly. The EtherNet commands go to a board on the drive. This board receives the signal and will use a chip that is on the board to toggle the coil. There is no power over ethernet and it's not the direct signal over that wire that is switching the drive.
That's a good point. I looked through my previous code within the program and it included an FWD/REV flip-flop for that particular drive. In other words, it was already enabled on FWD elsewhere. Sorry about the confusion.
How can we change the standard function of a VFD terminal using parameters only. Eg, making a moter to rotate in reverse direction by giving the command to the forward terminal (02). I'm using powerflex 525 VFD. Ps interchange of wire connection is not the option it has to be done by changing some parameters only. Please help!
Thanks Sir. Great video. I have Problem. I want to config IP address for PowerFlex 523 (25A-D017N114~~~7.5kW).. But on keypad i don't see show Parameter (C128/C129,C130,C131,C132/C133,C134,C135,C136). I had setting C169=1 (Network opt). Please help me. Many thanks.
Why did you hard wire? I did mine the same way without hard wiring push buttons and it still starts and stops the vfd and motor. Are you just showing us two different ways to accomplish the same results? Is there a reason why you did it this way?
Yes, just to showcase the specific start/stop IO. In some facilities they still use those, but it's absolutely unnecessary if you're doing it over EtherNet in my opinion.
Hello Thanks for the Rslogix 500 software video.. Is there any link where i can get rslogix 5000 software and emulator for study purposes waiting for your reply
This logic has created a race condition. If the RPI times out between your start and stop branch it means a packet will be sent to the drive asking to start and stop together. The next packet should just be a start but the drive is already locked up until the start is cycled. Nice video though!
Vlad, how do I change speed of the drive over Ethernet? Somehow the controls engineer o work with gets into the parameter on the drive and increases/decreases speed. When I look at parameters the output frequency is always grayed out and I can’t change it
The parameter should be the right approach. I suspect that it's either nested into an AOI or it's being aliased elsewhere. Can you send me the program or a few screenshot to v.romanov@solispl.com? I'll try to see what's wrong in your specific case.
Just a general PID or one for the drive? What would be the feedback loop for the PID? I'd probably need an encoder for that. I may consider doing a video on that in the future.
@@SolisPLC pid for the drive would be great. would you be able to demonstrate both the exclusive control and trim control and the difference between using general pid or drive etc....? cheers

You need to look at the command frequency. The output frequency is what the drive is actually running at.
