I wish you would’ve asked Gardy if it was much of a thought to move him to 3B instead of 1B. I always thought his arm was too valuable to put at 1B.
They didnt mention in the video, but I thought the primary reason for Mauer to move to first was a DR's order due to a concussion. I dont think putting him at the hot corner was much of an option. His arm was better suited for third. Also it is prefferable to have a lefty play first. Pretty sure he moved to 1st strictly due to his concussion.
I remember reading that on the forums on Twins Daily back in like 07-08. If that's where he would eventually go.
Mauer was too good of an athlete to waste at 1B. He could play any position. He would have had so much more value in the OF than at 1B. Vasgersion and Reynolds didn’t do their homework on the concussions.

Gary Sheffield not being in the HOF after 10 years on the ballot is truly hard to comprehend.
I would agree IF, Sheffield was also a Catcher. As an Outfielder, there are SO MANY players more deserving.
@@codyj9983 🤣 Not even Close Sheffield hit a career .292 and over 540 home runs. These clowns that they are letting in are a joke and Joe Mauer catcher or not is nowhere near a HOF.
He tested positive for PEDs so he cheated. As did Bonds, Palmeiro, McGwire, Sosa, Clemens and Canseco. End of story.
@@FloridaDreamz many outfielders were way better defensively with higher batting averages. 500 HR club isn't what it used to be. Sheffield doesn't stand out amongst other outfielders like Mauer stands out amongst other catchers.

The only joke around here is your comment. A catcher that wins not only multiple batting titles but an MVP award career batting average of over .300. Not to mention the gold gloves. This dude changed the game and the way a catchers production and offensive value are viewed.
Mauer absolutely stands out among catchers.

Joe Mauer is not a hall of famer. MLB Hall of fame should be ashamed of letting average players in the HOF its not even a HOF anymore its whos my friend club. Andruw Jones was 10x better than Mauer. Gary Sheffield not getting in and Mauer gets in is a complete joke.
