@Cowboy Kent Rollins - Hey Kent! Love your videos, sadly I've got celiac disease and am unable to eat 99% of what you show on your channel. I do try to make some for my wife as she also loves your cooking, but it's just not the same when you can't have any. I was wondering if you have any gluten free recipes you could share for one of your videos? Or any that you could adapt to be gluten free. Thanks Kent, keep up the great work.

Had an abscess tooth once. My mom told me to put a tea bag (black tea) on it for about an hour. After you make a cup of tea. That warm wet tea bag sucked that poison out. No more pain. Told the dentist about it. He said it would put him out of business if that got out.

    • @dc8836
      @dc8836 Год назад

That's not really how it works. Abscesses can breach on their own and "solve themselves" like that, but they can also continue to get more and more infected. Any abscess that keeps growing or hasn't reduced in size after more than a week or two should be seen by a professional.
Don't fuck around with dental abscesses. Your mouth is close to a lot of major blood vessels, including ones that go directly to your heart and to your brain. Any sepsis resulting from a ruptured or ignored abscess can get to vital organs very quickly and kill you. A lot of people have died because they didn't take that stuff seriously.

Hey there Kent, physician here. I love your videos and I'm sure when supplies are limited you use what you can but I have a few thoughts about your recommendations. Using something like lime juice would be fine for an initial cleanse of a wound because of the citric acid but after that it's just best to keep the wound clean as further treatments would actually inhibit healing as you're affecting the newly growing cells. I would be VERY careful with ever putting something in your eye that's not actually meant to be in the eye. Contaminants in the potato such as fungus or bacteria would thrive in the eye, so a topical application on the closed eyelid would be fine but just be cautious with the eye itself. Lemon water daily would be just fine but there isn't such a thing as a liver "cleanse" other than just being a buzzword for supplement salespeople. Maalox or mild of magnesia is fine for a canker/cold sore but you can also take Lysine (over the counter amino acid) to help reduce the frequency of getting them if you are prone. If you prefer a more "old school" approach you can just drink buttermilk because it's naturally high in lysine. You are indeed correct about cherries for gout as there is good evidence to support that as a natural treatment for a gout attack. Avoiding triggers like high-protein diets and alcohol can also help. Hope that helps. Please keep doing what you're doing as we all benefit from your experience.

Back in the late 60's we treated bad sunburn with white vinegar. I helped one poor soldier who came to town for weekend, he had a deep sunburn on back which could get him in trouble Monday if he could not break starch in a fresh uniform. I soaked paper towels in vinegar and laid on the burned skin, kept it wet for hours. It helped take the pain and sensitivity out. Hopping into a hot as you can stand it tub with a good cup or more of oatmeal will also help treat a poison ivy rash. I have been told mixing baking soda with white vinegar into a paste will also dry up poison ivy/oak rash when applied.

This might seem a little crazy but I've done it and it works.
If you have a sliver or a thorn that you can't get out, take some egg white and dab it generously on a bandage and put the bandage over where the sliver or thorn is and leave it overnight. Seal up the bandage good with saran wrap or tape or whatever of course. In the morning when you take the bandage off that egg white will have drawn that sliver out or at least out far enough you can just pull it out. My grandma showed me this when I was little and had a rose thorn stuck in my leg and we couldn't get it out.
I'm not a doctor but it has worked for me.

It was seriously bad and doctors wanted it to heal from the inside out.
After nine months of that I just couldn't take any more.
My Papa suggested I put some all-stock on it, it's for horses and livestock and you can get it at the co-op.
Papa warned me that it would sting, but didn't feel a thing on account of the nerve got severed.
It was healed up in just a couple weeks, after that I carried that stuff everywhere with me on farms, fields, woods and riverbanks.

For poison oak or ivy, soak a rag with isopropyl alcohol and hold it against the rash.
Some folks think it stings too much, but it relieves the itch and dries up the rash quick.
The quicker you put it on the rash the better.
If my four year old son could stand the sting from the alcohol without a whimper, surely others can too.
It'll only sting bad for a minute, and it'll kill that itch so good and quick you'll forget it stings.
Alcohol is also helpful to slow the itch of mosquito bites, but you've gotta soak a rag and hold it against the bite too.

    Great video!
A dear friend who was a trauma surgeon had shared many tips with me through the years before he passed away.
    One was this…
We all know that honey is a great antibacterial/anti microbial but what to do for a deep wound or one that is not healing well and honey is making a mess…
    Pack it with Brown Sugar!
Light or Dark both work great!
He always kept some in the hospital pharmacy!
Wash gently, allow to air dry as much as possible, then pack with the brown sugar and cover to keep it waterproof.
Each time you change the dressing, allow it to air for a good while.
    Blessings to Y’all ❣️

Apple cider vinegar with the mother really helps my husband's heartburn. Mix with a cup of water.

    • @dc8836
      @dc8836 Год назад

Yeah, it's a good short term remedy. If you or your husband have frequent heartburn issues, you should probably tell your doctor. Omeprazole and similar medications are typically recommended for treating that. Letting frequent heartburn go untreated for too long can result in damage to your esophagus and stomach from overproduction of acid and that acid pushing through the sphincter that's meant to keep your stomach separate from your esophagus. In really bad heartburn, you can even potentially aspirate stomach acid/contents, which can cause burns to your lungs. It can also damage your teeth, as the stomach acid leaking back up into your mouth can corrode the enamel.
Natural remedies are a good stop-gap measure, but they shouldn't be used as a replacement for professional medical care. Instead, use them as a compliment to regular check-ups and discussions with your doctor.

The ways of the cowboy made this country. You two help show how they stayed healthy and hardened to the tasks of working cattle from sunup to sundown. Great natural remedies all should know about. Controlling the wind should be a campfire story, "it should" .

It's a big country. Cowboys had a big role in some areas, but not others. In the northwest and northeast, it's more likely to be loggers and fishermen you hear about :)

@@dc8836 Certainly agree, I'm from New England, and farming was the way of life for us. Timber was and is very important. History shows how we spread across this country and there were many tales of the task. Kent preserves one of the best, hope others join in.

Mr. Rollins, I needed to know about the fennel seed for indigestion. Yes, it does taste like black liquorice. I have garlic and honey I keep in a jar I take that with fresh squeezed lemon. Lol love them oats too! Okra is good too! I need to do that! Fresh cherries are great! Spoon of Olive oil is good too! I love all your remedy's! Natural remedies are where it's at! Thank you!!
