    Joe, @ Ohio Wood Burners has a super splitter wood splitter made in Mass. When he bundles he passes the big pieces through this fast splitter & makes small pieces out of big pieces. It’s easy but still a learning curve. ❤ your videos, have fun & keep making them.

    Nice bundler. It's nice to see the different ways people package their wood. I started with bags and figured out it took too long and bags are expensive.

      Yep the main reason I didn’t do the bags was because of the cost.

      I remember Joe from OWB doing a video not too long ago and he said there are two kinds of strap trap one is blown and the other one is cast and he said stay away from the blown because it is extremely noisy so I’m assuming that the Hudson bundler came with a roll of blown stretch wrap.

    Hey Jake nice bundler, I looked at the Hudson, John’s Welding and Twister manual bundler. All seem to work really nice. What I ended up with is an Amish made bundler that’s about half the cost. The thing I like about the Amish bundler is it’s chain drive not belt drive. Have fun bundling!!!!

      How much are the electric machines? I can see it saving you plenty of energy for gathering, and stacking your bundles.
      I do plan on building one , to get started, but really, really want the electric machine for the above listed reasons. I guess on especially hot days that cranking motion would cause a fanning effect 😵‍💫🤔

    Hello Jake and Sarah, Great job making the video and displaying the firewood bundler I’ve actually considered building one myself but I thought before I started doing that I would build one out of lumber and make bundles to see how well they would go over. I have a wood stand very similar to yours and most people are more interested in the $20 stacks than the bundles so I’m kind of holding off on building the one out of steel. Anyways keep your videos coming we all enjoy them.
    Cheers Mark

    • @WoodysRTBFirewood
      @WoodysRTBFirewood 2 года назад

      I’m beginning to think that if we were to follow Joe‘s advice that smaller quantities equals bigger profit and perhaps filling my wood stand solely with bundles that are 1 cubic foot that it would be more profitable but more work making the bundles

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  2 года назад

      I would have to agree with you, unfortunately a guy about a half mile down the street from me built a similar stand three days after I put mine out…so now I’m kinda stuck as far as pricing goes. His firewood bags are priced at $6

    • @WoodysRTBFirewood
      @WoodysRTBFirewood 2 года назад

      But keep in mind Jake what kind of product is he selling in his stand, is his wood as good or inferior to what you have because one guy around me buy loads of blocks, splits them ,boxes them and sells them immediately and I recently bought a box just to see what he had and some of his wood was 35% moisture content so I wouldn’t be too concerned about competition when you know that you are selling a great product that’s dried and ready to burn.
      Perhaps your competition thinks it’s the customers job to dry their wood. Lol

    • @DudeRanchDIY
      @DudeRanchDIY  2 года назад

      I totally agree with you, I’m not sure what kind of product he’s selling. I know my wood is dry! I have been keeping an eye on his inventory and he hasn’t seemed to have sold any bags yet either! I do know that my stand looks nicer than his!

    Hi Jake - it's Big Rodders in Ireland. You live in a great setting and I'm impressed with your tidy yard as I'm always wary of trip hazards while working. I'm not aware if there is a bundle market here in Ireland and I certainly have never seen a bundler machine in my travels. It has good potential to provide a high profit product that could be produced indoors during inclement weather.

    This is a really neat design. I like the rounded bent corners , open bottom , so you're not standing on a piece of steel. As I was replying to another of your commenters, I really would love to have an electric model to save on energy while doing the task, I'll probably just copy one of these models. Fo - Sho I'll copy the rounded bent corners. But thinking a sealed motorcycle 🏍️ chain and aluminum sprockets would be the best Crank Drive system. Probably pick up a set of miss matched sprockets from a motorcycle shop used for nothing, and a new O-Ring Chinese chain for near nothing online. At some point add power to it , but just thinking the chain driven sprockets would be the way to go.

    Doing bundles is kind of a pain in the butt for me at least. One word of advice, watch when you pull your hand out of the first wrap. I got a really nasty splinter in the palm of my hand. It felt like it went into my palm and all the way out of my finger tip but I was just being a baby. It only went in about a quarter inch. It really did hurt though.

    Stacking the pieces is taking too long. Set a standard size and go with that. Otherwise you have to change the splitter. Don't change an already established standard.
    Also, use the last piece of wood to hold down the stretch wrap down instead of your hand. Might be faster.
