    Sam will always be the best hero in film history. You know why? Because he shows that you dont have to be some AMAZING BUFF HOT GUY to be a hero unlike Superman and batman and all the other stereo type shit they have these days. All you have to be is willing to do the right thing. I think LOTR is a huge inspiration and is the best masterpiece ever

      Alien4131 That's why we still look at this trilogy and still see a masterpiece! These movies will never be out of time!
      I don't see a almost 15 year old movie when i watch The Fellowship, i see something truly awesome!
      If you show any of the LOTR-movies to someone who have never seen them, and ask them to guess how old they are. There is no way in bloody hell they are going to guess "around 15"
      Look at batman, particulary look at the old batman movies, even tho they were made to be a certain way, no one is taking them serious today. Even Batman Begins with C.Bale starts to feel a bit old.
      *Lord* *of* *The* *Ring* *may* *one* *day* *get* *old,* *but* *it's* *not* *this* *day!*

    Let's not forget Frodo was carrying the ring the whole time, and that he was constantly exposed to the power of the ring. If Sam or anyone else had carried the ring from the beginning, the result would have been the same. Imagine the mental strain that Frodo had experienced while carrying the ring. In that regards both Frodo and Sam are heroes, and Frodo deserves just as much recognition as Sam does.

    • @mohamedab9033
      @mohamedab9033 7 лет назад +46

      The result wouldn't have been nearly the same if the Ring bearer was anyone else. Frodo, among the countless creatures of Middle Earth, had an innate unexpected extraordinary resilience to it's evil. If it had been anyone else, they wouldn't have even made it to Rivendell in the first Film before the Ring took hold.

    • @babbattaDAdentist
      @babbattaDAdentist 7 лет назад +57

      I agree that Frodo had extraordinary resiliency to the ring, and I think Sam also had the same mental fortitude, but there is a bigger message behind the roles that Frodo and Sam took on in this series
      remember when Frodo says to Gandolf, "I wish the ring had never come to me." and Gandolf says "so do all who live to see such times, but that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us."
      The types of trials and tribulations don't really matter. The cards that are dealt to you is what you have. You can only decide to do something about the situation that you are in, and hopefully you can make the right decision.
      Frodo had to be the ringbearer so he came through with it in the end. And Sam had to make sure that Frodo finishes his mission, even if Frodo started to doubt and hate Sam bc of the ring's influence and Gollum. What I'm trying to say is that, it is stupid to argue who is the true hero between Frodo and Sam, or who is better, etc. They're both heroes in that regard.

    • @mohamedab9033
      @mohamedab9033 7 лет назад +16

      babbattaDAdentist What you're attempting to say, is how Tolkien managed to make a Legendarium that withstood the test of time, with the greatest of all stories by having practically "No main character".
      Everyone had a rol to fulfill, and none could do it without the other. Or in that case I should say "Everyone" were main characters.

    "It's like in the great stories, Mr. Frodo, the ones that really mattered. Full of darkness and danger they were, and sometimes you didn't want to know the end because in the end how could things be happy? How could the world go back to the way it was when so much bad had happened? But in the end, it's only a passing thing, this shadow. A new day will come. And when the sun shines it will shine out the clearer. Those are the stories that stay with you, that ment something, even if you were to small to understand why. But I think Mr. Frodo, i do understand, I know now. Folk in those stories had lots of chances of turning back only they didn't. They kept going because they were holding on to something. What are we holding on to Sam? That there is some good left in this world and its worth fighting for"

    It's been over four years now, and I'd like to thank everybody who commented on the top 5, but there are certain things I feel I ought to straighten out. First of all, some of you criticised the video because it lacked some scenes that you personally find the best. I still believe that these scenes are the ones that create the whole magic, make every Tolkien geek remember what the whole trilogy is about -> “The world is indeed full of peril, and in it there are many dark places; but still there is much that is fair, and though in all lands love is now mingled with grief, it still grows...
    ...perhaps the greater.” J. R. R. Tolkien

      Gamgeefux I appreciate your reasoning somewhat, but I just think some diversity could've been had. All of these scenes are just so similar. I feel like Helm's Deep has to be in any list of the best scenes in the movie, it was just incredible, same with the arrival of the Rohirrim at Minas Tirith.
      I do agree with the inclusion of 4 and 3 definitely. I love 3. I think 2 has some very nice dialogue, but it just felt stale after having already watched 5 - 3. Not a huge fan of 1.

    • @axessenter
      @axessenter 9 лет назад +1

      Alexandre Tostes well, of course, i know that. but however, in my opinion sam was the one that i consider chief hero, which Tolkien actually stated himself. though of course it is right that frodo carried a heavier burden.
      what i find remarkable about sam though is that he gives back the ring to frodo voluntarily, which is something even Aragorn had to fight with. and Galadriel didn't dare touch it. but a normal gardener could bear the ring (yes, sam is considered a ring bearer) and could give it back to frodo out of free will. the only other one i saw do something similar was Bilbo,
      also, whatever happened sam never lost hope but kept going and he supported frodo so he could go on. he is loyal enough to even follow frodo into the west at the end of his life (at least it was at the end of his life if i remember correctly)
      so i agree with you, yes, but i as well think that both are heroes, but sam is the chief to me, *just my opinion, others can have different, and actually i didn't want to turn this into a chain in the first place, so future people reading this, know it is an opinion from one person among many who does not want to get caught up in a heated argument which ends in the people bashing in their heads over trivial matters, for no good reasons, who don't listen to each other until it just consists of people throwing swear words at each other for which you don't need any intelligence whatsoever.... because for each of those messages i get a notification, and god it gets annoying^^ i am not saying that you are one of them, i am not saying the future readers are of that kind, but i do not want to risk it. so please, be decent everybody and respect that.* (this is so that no one can overread this)

    Sam is the best hero for me, because even though he wasn’t the main character or the greatest warrior, he saves Frodo. And he is as important as the other characters and it shows his struggles as well as everyone else 🥰 the main characters in films wouldn’t have been able to get through tough things without their friends so it really emphasizes how important they are 🥰

    I know this book was written by a devout christian man, but can we just take a moment to think about sam's quote in the last scene, "I can't carry it for you, but i can carry you." How much does that reflect how christians believe God interacts with us. We may be tried throughout our lives, but it is God who can carry us through. Beautiful writing Mr. Tolkien.

    The best scene for me is
    "Gondor calls for aid!"
    "And Rohan will answer!"
    This is when Men, who must assume the stewardship of Middle Earth finally come together, and then the payoff at Pelannor Fields just when all hope fades the cavalry literally arrive in the nick of time and rout Mordor. Théoden realises that Men must unite to fight despite the odds. The Elves are leaving, the Dwarves are isolationists, as are hobbits and with orcs/goblins/Uruk-Hai and Nazgul defeated Men (whose hearts are easily corrupted to quote Galadriel) finally prove to be Isildur's redemption.

    Such an amazing list because it focused on the most moving and impactful scenes. Yes, the Ride of the Rohirrim, Eomere at Helms Deep, “You! Shall Not! PASS!”, “For Frodo” at the Black Gate, etc. are all AMAZING scenes, but I respect that this list chose to focus on the lesser-appreciated scenes that are less action-oriented. Sams speech to Frodo on the slopes of Mount Doom is arguably the most moving 90 seconds of film in history

      Gurdev Suwali It's not. Like Gandalf said, true courage comes in knowing not when to take a life, but when to spare one. However, I believe true courage comes in the form of our everyday interactions, whether it's greeting a neighbor, or even doing kind things for one another. People seem to equate courage with weapons and defending the weak. While defending the weak is a form of courage, it's not really true courage.
