Had family over and they did all the Hollywood Blvd stuff. They wanted to see the Hollywood sign up close so I took them to the Innsdale trail. They where happy to just be in front of it and take pictures I didn't tell them and we kept walking not telling them where we were going. Well before you knew it we were behind the Hollywood Sign. They still talk about it to this day. LA's Natural Beauty far surpasses any tourist attractions.
Holy Moly! Fantastic Hike! You guys are tough! I would have never thought it was possible to do that huge hike to 11!!! Peaks in one morning! You deserve as much lunch as you want. Spectacular!!! You guys are great!
Griffith park is so great! I used to work in Burbank and would go to Griffith park after work fairly often. Lots of fantastic trails to choose from. Fall, winter and early spring are the best times to go. And such great views. On a clear day you can see all the way to the ocean.
What a fantastic trek! The flowers are awesome! I have been loving the trails this spring with so many flowers 😊 Im happy that Jared knows the name of that plant, I found a couple on a trail this last week and had no idea what it was, I thought it looked like an artichoke plant 😄 The Cobweb Thistle! Great video Josh 😀
Yea the flowers have been incredible all over California, it has been so cool to see! I was surprised to hear the name of that plant as well but it was the perfect name haha
Wow. I've been all the places you went on this hike but not all in one shot! Incredible hike. An easier traverse of Griffith Park that I've done is starting from Travel Town and ending up down in Los Feliz in the neighborhood near Griffith Park Drive.
What a great hike! I hope you took some still photos of LA covered in fog, with Griffith Observatory and the sky scrapers poking through! Incredible beauty!
Such a cool view from the backside of the Hollywood sign. I’m glad you mentioned how useful the hiking poles were. And they should provide free cheese samples at the Baby Bell peak haha
@@californiathroughmylens I parked at Merry-Go-Round parking area and did the loop and added the route to Griffith Observatory and Hollywood Sign Vista
That’s a great hike. One of my bucket list things is to see the super bloom this year with the record rainfall. I’m going on Monday to the corrizo plain. It’s a tad late but I had some storm damage to my house to get addressed first. They are starting the major work Monday so I’m getting myself and kitty out of the house. Been packing up several rooms into a POD so they can replace some wall and floor damage. I want to do a trip to Joshua tree before it gets too hot as well. But Monday I’m going to do a loop taking I-5 to corrizo plain then taking the 101 home. From Ventura it’s about the same time and distance going either way so why not do a loop. Did you guys do a super bloom trip this year with the kids and Amy? As always enjoying your posts
Bummer about the damage but I am glad you are able to get out and explore. Let me know how Carrizo Plains is, I didn't get a chance to head out there this year!
There are 9 official peaks at Griffith Park- Bee Rock, Beacon, Glendale, Mt Hollywood, Bell, Chapel, M Lee, Cauhenga, Burbank! Baby Bell and Taco are unofficial peaks hikers came up with. The Hog Peak is at the top of the Birdbath trail-it’s really unofficial. It starts on the other side of that peak! It’s a damn good climb. And you guys are crazy to go down from Glendale Peak to that hut. I’ve climbed up that trail many times, never down!
Great footage! I’ve been on those trails many times. Be aware that restrooms are very scarce so you might have to do your business in the bushes! Just a warning if your bringing kids or the wife.
We did this hike today! It was amazing! We eneded up doing 8.53 miles and it took us just about 4 hrs and 24 minutes! Thank you for your recommendation!!! We did all of the 11 peaks you described! We also mapped everything out on the park map and also used google maps and all trails to get through everything! We also used treking poles which were super useful! It was awesome to see the different views change as we moved across the trails.
The bridge is called the hog back trail bridge. But sometimes the locals call it the haunted bridge because of some super natural stories about hikers experienced on the bridge.
Oh yeah, I've been there 16:38, that is more like a dry waterfall. You literally have to be on your hands and knees to do that. You guys missed a neat little spot 17:32, called Cedar Grove, which is a tiny wooded area just 0.4 mi along the asphalt road. A small area with tall trees that look like you are in the Sierra's or something. A popular movie shooting spot for forrest scenes.
@@californiathroughmylens Also, Beacon Hill the last peak that you hiked has a really scenic south face towards the 5frwy and LA downtown skyline. You guys should have continued down that peak, and it leads down to the cadman trail head and crystal springs drive, to the little pony ride parking area. I've driven by Griffith park over a thousand times for various work locations, but I always remember seeing a narrow white line that shoots straight up that peak. The first peak when you see the massive park. One day I would find the time to hike that trail. I would think, as I drove by each time. I finally did that just a few years ago. A moderately steep challenging hike that takes about 20 minutes. It must have been an old service trail, because you start seeing old metal pipes.
For hiking with brush getting so close to the feet, are you worried about not seeing rattlesnakes? Any tips to hike with overgrown brush and flowers making it harder to see any snakes hiding, since it's getting warmer? I tried a different hike and the single track was so overgrown that I ended up turning around rather than risk a hidden snake (have heard one start rattling off trail in the underbrush before)
Hey Josh. Have you ever hiked to Cathy’s Corner? I know it’s on Mt Hollywood Drive. They filmed a scene for La La Land there with Ryan Gosling and Emma Stone. Cheers buddy 😎
Your living my dream life in California lol. How many hours did this whole hike take? It looks amazing. What would you recommend for a first time hiker? I am moving soon to LA and I want to hike Griffith park first. Is there a place online I should look or do you have suggestions of where to start first? Sorry for all the questions. I have always loved Griffith park and I want to see and do everything in this beautiful park thanks so much for the awesome videos, been following for a few years you have a fantastic channel much love
I think thats the first time you havent introduced a hiking friend Josh... hi Jarrod. Maybe you should also warn (even though they should think of it themselves) people to walk with a buddy its pretty isolated despite the other people. Great to see a bit of Oz there with the Golden Wattle and the poppies were gorgeous. Amazing views despite the Smog? Fog? Haze? BTW do you get many poisonous snakes there Josh..I know you dont usually respond but maybe someone else can tell me please? cheers from West Oz
Sounds awful to have to deal w paying for parking to then pay for an Uber to then do a 7mile hike up a mountain during the hot LA sun. No rewards other than just a view doesn’t seem worth the time and effort 😵💫
Glad you had a friend to go hiking with. The flowers were great!
Yea, it was awesome to have someone to hike it with me!
It looks so rewarding, outside of paying for a ride, the fact that it is free makes it like a better weekend plan than walking at Hollywood Blvd.
I would take this hike over Hollywood Blvd any day haha

I agree, so many amazing trails all over the park!
So happy you got to go to the Wisdom Tree again, that really is a channel throwback!!
haha yea I filmed my first Wisdom Tree video with a GoPro 7 I think haha

It would be fun to try it in a different way, I will have to look at that one
Beautiful video you have inspired me to go to LA
I love that there’s a Taco Peak and Mt. Bell in the same trail. 😂 I’ve gotta go try this some time! Great stuff!
Taco Bell!!
haha Taco Bell, I didn't think about that
Just moved here and this is exactly wat i needed. thanks!

Cool hike. I am adding it to my list.
Awesome! I hope you enjoy it!
Josh, You have the only channel I'm aware of that has done a cool nature hike in an urban area. Kudos!!
Glad you liked it! This hike is not one that many people do so I wanted to give it a try!
What a great hike. I’ve done some of those peaks before. It would be great to do them all at once! Thanks for sharing!
Great walk guys. I wish i could be there. It is on my bucket list. Greetings from Croatia🙋♂
Glad you liked it! It was a nice hike for sure. I hope you can see the area one day!
The fact that you hiked such a long distance is admirable!! 😳🙌🏽
Thanks! It was a fun hike
Great video. Very informative and lots of helpful advice. Well shot, edited and narrated.
We did the Hollywood sign hike at sunset. It was beautiful

haha tacos at taco peak and cheese at Baby Bell sounds awesome!
@@californiathroughmylens thats the proper motivation for a hike of that length
I've done 8 of these over the years but not in order. I think I might have to go on this trail this year.
I've done this trail a few times but I always start at the Southern Railroad parking lot on Crystal drive
I did this last weekend. Little over 15 miles with 3500’ elevation gain.
Wow, without the ride share? That is a lot of elevation gain

Great video, how much water did you take and is there any water on the trail
I have done this. That first peak is straight up. It’s like climbing a ladder for 20 minutes. Not difficult, just be prepared
I could never figure out how to get to the Hollywood sign !!! And I am a local !! I have tried from the observatory and always gave up! Ty
Park on Canyon Lake Dr by Lake Hollywood Park, start hike using Innsdale Trailhead and stay on your left to reach Hollywood Sign.
Nice! So theres no cliffs to worry about
Peak No.01 is the Wisdom Tree Hike.
I like hiking
This is awesome trail.. I want to try this. I'm just afraid of poison ivy's or rattle snakes. :)
That is probably the hike i would do, is there any poison ivy or poison oak on the trail ?
I didn't see any myself but I am not 100% sure
@@californiathroughmylens i guess i would be more worried about rattlesnakes hiding in the overgrowth next to the trail.
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Is there anyway to head to the last peak without going down that sketchy route?
Yea, you can just backtrack to the bridge from Glendale Peak, not a big deal and doesn't add too much time to the hike
Fyi most people don't know this but Griffith Park was a site of Japanese internment during WWII.
Wow really? I will have to look that up!
Hikers came up with name Taco, since Mt. Bell is the next peak, get it- Taco Bell!
It’s good they kept the griffin park but I bet they regret not saving a better spot,, that could’ve been Ralph’s easy
I like the Taco Bell peak 🎉
