The Nikonos-V is a very stylish and retro underwater camera made by Nikon that was released in 1984. In this video, Braedon walks you through focusing, shooting and rewinding your film as well as showing you examples from the camera.
As a note, there was no battery in the camera so all of the metering was guesswork - we'd say a majority of the underwater photos were pretty underexposed but there were still some fun.
Braedon was also shooting photos with the Yashica T4 Super as well as mixing in a few from the Voigtlander Bessa 667 medium format camera. Check out the crispness of those photos!

Great camera! I’ve had mine for a year and it’s been great to take surfing and camping! Easy to use and I don’t have to baby it too much. But it should be noted that in order to keep your camera water proof takes a great deal of care: cleaning, maintenance, o-rings and proper understanding of the camera. It will last if you take good care of it! I’ve been lucky to have the olive version!!!

His name is Elie and he has become a friend to me. He is informative, kind and really loves what he does. Reach out to him and send him a DM. Tell him Mae sent you :)

What an awesome opportunity to take advantage during your trip to Mexico! Would you say there is much variation between the models of nikonos?

The quality of the images would be better if you used something other than Fuji film - like Kodak.

Great video, I recently purchased one of these but haven't taken it out yet. I'm sure the answer is a quick google search away but how much light do you lose underwater? Sunny 16 is great above the water but does it apply below too?

I don't know the exact stop difference and it will depend on how deep, how sunny, how clear the water is, etc. You definitely lose several stops though.

Is there a reason why the nikonos photos come out warmer and softer even though its the same film as the yashicas photos?

Lenses have a big impact on the color of your photos

I think Pro400H is also quite prone to colour shifting when you overexpose.

Looks like the Nikonos' meter biased toward underexposure. The Yashica shots were much nicer

This might be because the film was expired. This film has not been made in 35mm for a few years.
