    Kind if amazing how they were such a good band over such a short period and at such a young age.

    • @NotLeda
      @NotLeda 4 года назад +3

      Kinda reminds me of the Beatles: they were around for 7 years, from 1963 to 1970 - I know they got together in 1957 but the band as we know it didn't really exist until later - and they were very young but already knew so much of the world.
      And they knew how to say it.
      It really is rare.

    • @VelcroKittie
      @VelcroKittie 4 года назад +5

      @@NotLeda Yeah I was actually just thinking of the Beatles too. Very short period of time. If somebody were to not have a single clue about either band, and were introduced to many of their songs, the natural assumption would be that they were together a lot longer. Even knowing both bands didn't stay together long, I find my mind tricking me into thinking otherwise. It's very bizarre. I am sure a clever psychologist could tell us why that's the case.

    Morrissey has always been a staunch defender of British and English people, and their right to be what they are in their own country. This was a view that was considered normal back in the 80's and further back. Why only now has it become unfashionable to defend English civilization? Or English culture? The Smiths was inherently English and British, and also Irish. Why does Marr oppose the decision of the peoples of these islands to govern themselves, and decide for themselves who should be allowed in?

    • @grizcuz
      @grizcuz 7 лет назад +40

      Nobody, including the EU, has denied UK citizens their 'right to be what they are' whatever that is/means? We've been a country that has embraced immigration for generations. Ironic that there couldn't have been a Smiths if it wasn't for immigration, with the whole band having Irish heritage. Manchester is a city that wouldn't have existed if it wasn't for immigration. We're a melting pot of a city with influences from across the globe and that's what made the city both the first city of 'free trade' in the past and the vibrant place it is today.
      It's also a city that voted to remain in the EU. Many of us understand that racist, populist politicians blame immigration for the country's problems. When it's their own policies that have welcomed immigration in order to maintain low levels of pay rather than the immigrants themselves that have created the present situation. Manchester is a very different place to many other places in the UK and your views wouldn't be both recognised or welcomed there, because most of the population are one generation of immigrants or another. I've personally got both German/Jewish and Irish blood somewhere in my veins and I'm proud of that fact. Mono cultures are both rare and unhealthy, both culturally and genetically speaking.

Because they are all marry their cousins many times removed.

      UKIP is mainly made up of Thatcherite ex Tories who think the EU is preventing the few at the top mistreating most British people, by making companies label genetically modified ingredients and allowing workers enough breaks. They wouldn't spend any money not sent to the EU on the NHS because they don't believe in the NHS. When Tories were last in power they lowered tax for the rich, while making life for the poor, unselfish or those happy to get by without being a slave for the few at the top lives as difficult as possible with constant VAT increases, bedroom tax without building smaller places for them to move etc.

In every interview I've ever seen him do from the last 35 years he always seens to have the sane opinions on life/ politics and never seems to give Morrissey too much of a gard time when asked about him. I know they had their differences within the band and the true reasons as to why the Smiths split are for them to know and not anyone else which I wholeheartedly respect along with Johnny's seemingly unwavering political views.

    The difference between Morrissey and Marr is Morrissey is authentic and says whatever he's thinking. He can't be placed in a box or labeled one way or another. Morrissey doesn't "tow the line". Marr is a phony. He just says what he thinks is the "appropriate" thing to say while secretly he feels another way. Ever notice how people who claim to love diversity don't live in neighborhoods that are diverse? Complete phonies. That's why Morrissey is still relevant 40 years later and Marr has faded into obscurity. Morrissey connects with people and is a breathe of fresh air. He's not manufactured and nobody tells him what to do, what to say or how to act.

    Love Jhonny Marr, from beggining to end consistent. Very humble (and one of the best guitar players ever walked on earth). So sorry Morrissey can´t let the past go and reunite sometimes...the Smiths are so amazing. Our culture is dead. We need those people.

    Was this entire report simply to five a further wedge into the smiths? personally I hope they never do reform because they'll be no one left after that! I like to think that if Joe Strummer hadn't died they still wouldn't have got back together and obviously the jam would be the only other concern.

    Johnny Marr will say whatever it takes to avoid upsetting people. After reading his book (which was so poor that I returned it to Tesco after reading) and reading Morrissey's book (which was a masterpiece that I frequently re read), that is the conclusion that I came to. Morrissey is a man of substance whereas I have a the nagging suspicion that Marr is a snake and a suck up.

    Morrissey is pro Nigel because he values British culture and the country. Brexit has nothing to do with not liking people from another country, but liking British culture, culture that made us who we are and wanting to preserve it. I’ve travelled all over the world and practically every country has a people proud of their own country and culture, and so they should. I love the diverse world we live in and different cultures.
