    Just picked one of these up with no service history, thanks for the easy walk thru!

    You can get the tool and assortment of replacement fasteners at harbor freight cheap.......much easier to slide the tool under the panel than trying to just get under the fastener
    If removing factory installed oil filter......be prepared with plier type oil filter wrench
    Don't think you can get away without a tube, something to get oil out to catch pan, you won't get one directly under the drain
    I think next time I'm going to drive left wheels up on blocks to tilt motor toward the drain

    About how long did the oil take to fully drain out? This is a great video, thanks!

      Sorry for the delayed response. It took a while. I walked away and did a few other things while it was draining so not sure exactly how long.

    Always use clean oil on the gasket

      Why?

    • @rugershooter5268
      @rugershooter5268 4 месяца назад

      @@potterportraits oil is what allows the seal to seal against the manifold.......dirty oil is......dirty.......little grits in the dirty oil will keep it from making full contact(be sure to clean the manifold before putting the filter on)
      Tighten until you feel that it has made complete contact(you can feel it), then give it 1\4 to 1\2 additional turn(right at the end it will take a little bit of effort).......then the next time you won't need an oil filter wrench
      After you've finished, you're not done yet, run it and check for leaks......a weebit of a leak will turn into a bad leak
      If you wipe dirty oil on the filter seal, it probably won't hurt anything.......but you have brand new oil right there

      @@rugershooter5268 I wonder if using dirty oil is why mine always feels glued on. I hand snug them. But they're always a pain.

      @@potterportraits it's not hand tight.......it's snug it up then 1\4 to 1\2 turn more
      It will always take more effort to take off than put on.......so if you put it on hand tight then you won't be able to take it off without a tool

      @rugershooter5268 I'll try that. I don't always need a tool but sometimes. And they're always worse than when I put them on.
