- Decided to change the oil on the new Garden Tractor. I bought it with 14 hours on it, and it's due at 25 hours and since I didn't know if the previous owner had taken care of the 10 hour oil change I figured I was time. It appears that the oil was done at the 10 hour mark since it was still really clean.

A piece of foil can be put under the filter before removing it, or even an old tray from the meat department at the grocery to catch and drain the oil into the pan.
You might also drive up on a 2x4 with the two wheels on the side of the tractor opposite the drain valve before draining the oil. Just a little tilt to the drain.
Did my first oil change today, had gas in the oil, didn't know till I had drained it. Had a bent push rod also, I made a video on that, I think what happened is the valve adjustment got too loose and the push rod popped out. After I was done I saw the oil light was on so I thought the oil pressure was insufficient but found out it was just a reminder to change the oil. Thanks for the detailed video. TS 348D

Great video. I have been reviewing all things Husqvarna for maintenance. Purchased a Husqvarna TS354 XD in 2019 new. Purchased with the 54 inch mower deck and the 42 inch two stage snow thrower with power lift. This garden tractor replaced my Toro 269H with the same features that I bought new back in 1998. The Husqvarna has been mowing and snow blowing for 2 seasons now. A couple of comments to make based on my experience with the TS354 XD.
The engine exhaust is an issue. If you stop the tractor for even 2 minutes while mowing you will get a 6X6 grass burn on your lawn. The grass does not die but will take about 3 weeks to come back green. The engine exhaust is pushed straight down to the ground and this really heats up the grass. The exhaust port does not point down to the ground but all the brackets close to the exhaust redirect the air down as it comes out. Also I can melt a good section of my driveway letting the tractor idle during snow blowing. I have found that I make sure to drive the tractor onto my driveway before letting it sit and idle or turn the tractor off for even short time periods when working in the garden. No more grass burn doing this. I have been reviewing how to redirect the exhaust but have not found a modification that I like yet.
2nd issue is the front tire clip used to hold the tire on. I have had the front right tire fall off three times now. Turning puts pressure it seems on the tire clip used to hold the front tire on. This clip pops off and the tire slides off the spindle. My old Toro 269H had a cotter pin on the wheel spindle. The Husqvarna TS354 XD uses what my Dad always called a "Jesus clip" because each time you would try to put it on or take it off it would shoot off and slide somewhere on the garage floor for you to try and find. I have replaced the clip just this week to see if it was a bad clip. I am not the only one that has seen this occur. Recommendations I have seen online is to drill a 1/8th hole in the spindle where the clip goes and replace the clip with a cotter pin. Going to try that this summer if I have the tire fall off one more time. Also bought the replacement front bushing wheel bearing kit conversion kit off of Amazon for the front tires to see if these two things resolve the tire falling off issue.

3rd issue although minor, I cannot put on the front brush guard in the summer that came with the tractor now that I have the snow blower attachment/lift setup without fully removing the front lift kit any longer. Minor really I guess but now the brush guard just hangs in the garage during summer mowing as it does not seem to be worth the effort to pull all the brackets on and off each season.
I was spoiled by my old Toro 269H it was a hydraulic lift for the snow blower and mower deck. This made the transition from mowing to snow blowing very easy. The number of brackets to take off and put on the Husqvarna for each season is going to take a time to get down to where it is second nature.
For the price I do believe the Husqvarna 354 XD is a good garden tractor for the first 2 years of use. The next 18 will tell if it is as good as my old Toro 269H.

I ended up getting a piece of threaded pipe with a cap and extended it out past the frame. . My original little yellow drain valve did come unlocked ... thankgoodnesa I caught it in time. Love the videos!!
@DownintheHoller also, a ton of piece of mind! Never have to worry about it opening up anymore while mowing.
Put an elbow and plug on that pipe too!

Well, that's a great idea! I changed my oil today and as I began to loosen the yellow cap, the fitting behind it turned along with it. The yellow cap is supposed to make the service easier, but makes it more difficult IMO.. What size threaded pipe did you use? What type? 3/4 galvanized?
@@Moondog9322 I wish I could offer more help. I did this a long time ago. I know it took me no time to find something. I went to Home Depot plumbing isle and I want to say I took the yellow thing with me (to match it up but can not remember). I told the guy there what I wanted it for and he asked me how long and cut me a piece. I can go outside later on and measure it but bought a 4 or 5" piece of galvanized with a threaded cap on the end. It threaded right on and worked great.

Yeah...no...no way I’m paying someone to change the oil in my lawnmower....people pay 45 to get 6 quarts changed in their vehicle...can’t be paying double that for a mower.
My husky starting falling apart after about 60 hrs / mowing my 1.5 acre yard. Locking diff stopped working, head light led died, heat shield or something rattles really bad at idle. Air/fuel issue smokes a lot on start up and after warmed up seems to get choked up going up or down on hills.
Other than those shity things I love it!

I'm wondering how you'll change the rear differential fluid on this mower. My TS348D has 35 hours on it and I'm starting to wonder the most efficient way to get at that K66 trans for a fluid change. So far I don't see a great way to go about it without dropping the transmission.
Just picked up my ts354d today. I purchased partially based on your overviews of your GT and TS. I was looking through the manuals looking for the maintenance schedule while browsing random videos and you post this today. You sir have good timing. The manuals say nothing of transaxle maintenance. Do you have any insight on what maintenance needs to be performed on the k66, and when?

I am trying very hard to find a husqvarna garden tractor in the fredericksburg virginia area. I can't find one. You also said club cadet. Which one? I want it to do the heavy work, not for mowing.
look for true garden tractors, heavy duty transmission is a must. Most lawn mowers with have a K46 transmission, you really want one that is K66 Tuff Torq is the most common brand.
What gas do you use in this machine?
we use regular unleaded for this plus fuel stabilizer. The fuel stabilizer is a must for any small engine
@@FarpointFarms thanks i just bought this machine and thier was a note saying to only use tru fuel. I want just run the 87octane in it and i cant see why thats a bad idea.
I would agree that trufuel is better but also more expensive
Tru fuel is good but I would not use it in stuff that uses a ton of fuel. Maybe for trimmers, blowers and chainsaws. Those items only get used a few times a year and have really small engines.
Turning the plastic quick change does not release the oil big mistake you have to turn it in about an eighth of a turn, it will click, and then pull it straight out, about a quarter of an inch, it will click again, and the oil will come out. Simply turning it does not open it. if you keep turning it the whole thing will come out which is what happened to me and it's a pain in the butt to get it to screwed back in there cuz no socket or box wrench will fit it unless you remove the engine.
