NICE TRACK BTW!!! 👍👍👌 The AAAAARMA was no surprise. 😲 The 380 Grasshopper getting within 6 seconds a lap of it.... IMPRESSIVE! 😎🤟 The RF getting within 3 seconds, with its WAY TOO HIGH Rearend.... AMAZING!! 😵
The Granite has spent most of my track time out there, it is just fun and takes all the abuse my driving can provide! The hopper would have been faster if it didn't take a country mile to turn!! The RF does have a twearky rear end that is as high as Willie Nelson! I hope with the CVAs going on there is will pick up a little speed. We'll see!!!
Thanks, if it didn't take a country mile to turn it out there it would have made some better lap times but did pretty well for a little 380 motor buggy!!
Hey Addam! That was awesome mate!👌such a great idea. The rising fighter smashed it out of the ball park considering its size and power up against the mighty Arrma😁👌. Looking forward to seeing more mate👍🦘🇦🇺
Thanks and I am normally a little quicker with the granite but trying to keep it as fair and clean as possible! I will be putting the oil shocks on the RF and getting that back out for a second try as well to see if that will calm it down enough to be smoother and faster! I am sure it will be!
Glad you liked it and this one was kind of an expected outcome. The next one is a couple 4wd buggies so I am hoping for faster laps and a closer time and average (depending on my driving)!
Thanks, glad you liked it! It was a little bit of a challenge going from one to another but made it fun. Might have hurt lap times a little but kept them honest!
Hi Addam a great opening selection of cars around the Taterdome raceway. That track is proving to be tricky in places…as you come over the jump, too fast and you’re out to the edge of the track and no room to turn back in, then there the trick middle hairpin, with a blind spot, again too hot in, you go into that blind spot and cannot see if you’ve turned enough….in all, went well, but certainly going to be an interesting series. Great work. Take care and best wishes to you and the family 😁😊😉
You are right about the blind spot, Elf mountain is a little too big! I think I am going to have to shave off some of it this winter to be able to see the inner turn and jump landing better. I stand on the jump face side on a bit of a high spot so I see most of everything but the small ones like the hopper do tend to get lost here and there! It is still fun and I got plenty of stuff in plain view so not sure it will help too much with lap times but may help from just slamming into things out of sight which for some reason tend to break more things!
I'm better at trail driving than track so you're not alone their Adam, it's your hobby & you're having fun that's all that matters, I find the Tamiya buggy's take a different style driving that I haven't mastered yet I still have fun, great video thank's for sharing 😉👍
Thanks! I have always said my driving is really consistent... Consistently pretty bad!! Track driving was never a thing growing up around here so I never learned the porper way to drive and I just go out and have fun. At my last house I had a small track as well and only had a few cars so I got pretty good on that one. Having so many cars that drive so different from one to the next makes it hard to have any type of flow or muscle.memory on this track. Sadly I also have not had much time to get out there and drive on it. Like you said, as long as I'm having fun that's all that matters! The rest are just bloopers!!
It’s so cool having a track now Addam. So many cool events you can do like this! You could tell the grasshopper was a bit too bouncy and slow. But that’s what the hopper does lol - the tires are very bouncy so doesn’t really help with keeping the car straight. Anyways…great stuff…look forward to seeing the leaderboard change!
Thanks! It is nice to have it out here I just wish I was able to run out there a bit more. The hopper didn't do badly considering the tiny motor and it is the most bouncy car I have (except for the RadioShack cars maybe). I have more coming soon and I jumped over to some 4wd buggies for that one. I was surprised with the results of that one!! Thanks as always for watching and for checking in!!
Hey Addam, great time trial footage. As you know both of these have been out on the Orchard Raceway with similar results. You can really see the difference in speed on the Taterdome as the cars get up to speed. Love the fact that the Grasshopper saw Elf Mountain as such rather than a jump like the Granite! Looking forward to more content as I love a time trial 😎🔥
Yeah, that jump is somewhat of an error and I may have to modify it this winter. It got a little out of hand and is so tall it causes a pretty big blind spot almost anywhere you stand. The only way to not have it be an issue is to stand at the other end and I tend to jump off the track going over it from driving way over there. I think I am going to have to dismantle it and lower it down about a foot so it is a lower and flatter table top type.of jump I had intended to be! We'll continue for now as that is not a mid summer type of work at all!!!
They all did pretty well considering the loose nut behind the wheel!! I have some oil filled shocks for the RF that I hope will settle it down and allow for some faster times from it!
Great looking track and nice speed runs. The little Tamiya's always make me smile, with their unique hopping along sounds as they struggle to not just bounce everywhere. 🤣 Great video. 👍😎
Thanks! The hopper certainly lives up to its name and it was a struggle to get it around there! The training is actually worse than the hopping!! Those smooth front tires.did not help in turning fast laps!!
@@AddamsPlayground 🤣 Yeah watching it reminded me of the last time I took my Grasshopper 2 out, it was just hop hop hop! Should have named it the rampant rabbit...oh no wait...thats something else! 🤣🤦
Yeah some of those tumbles were funny but kind rough on the old harb bodies!! Thankfully nothing broke! The next ones I have lined up should be a little quicker around the track!
It would have done a lot better if it would have turned any more than it did. Those super smooth front tires just don't grip and with the stock springs I can't really add any weight or it will borrow it everywhere. They barely hold up the front end as is!!
Great race Addam. These cars may not the fastest or best performing cars. But maybe you'll get some suprises on later races😉. Looking forward on your next videos about this competition👍
I figured I would start with the slow and bouncy ones and move up from there. The next ones should be a bit faster as I have some 4wd buggies lined up so lap times should be a little faster (I hope!)
Thanks, I think the hopper did pretty well overall and was a fun but challenging drive! That.in itself adds to the fun a little!! There were a few tumbles but no breaks. The Rising Fighter wing got a little stress mark on it but nothing bad. All cleaned up and back on display!
Thanks! I do want to make some changes this winter but overall it works really well. The giant jump creates a horrible blind spot issue and the only way to avoid it is to stand at the other end but I tend to jump off of the track too often from over there! I may have to shave the jump down some to make it easier to see the inside corner. For now we run it as is and have fun with it!!!
Sweet comparison. I love that little track. Looking forward to see what will come out on top, and see what the cost of the model has to do with the handling. Cheers!
Very true, does the more you pay mean quicker or just more money?? I think in most cases the money equals a bit more performance but there are some where it is going to be borderline for sure!!
He he he... when I seen you holding the buggies I said to myself O BOY there's going to be a lot of hopping going on!! I kind of knew the arrma would give it to those buggies! Nice racing.
Yeah, I figure throw the bounciest ones together and let them scrap it out! The hopper's terrible turning abilities and lack of traction hurt it the most. I may swap the GH2 wheels and tires onto it and see what change that makes!! Next up is a couple 4wd buggies!!!
I think you did a really good job with the format of these videos, it's perfect entertainment for people like us, you know, I'd much rather watch toy cars go round and round than the news or reality TV, ha ha! Yeah, please keep them coming, you made that nice leaderboard, now fill it up! The foolish geek that I am, I was actually sitting at the edge of my seat and I was guessing and trying to figure how much those cars had in them, I think your fastest laps were pretty much what anyone could squeeze out of those primitive machines. I'm enjoying all of these but mostly I just can't wait until the 10th scale 4wd buggies enter the fray, that'll be my favourite for sure! And most importantly, I can see you're having a good time with this.
Thank you! I do have some 4wd coming up soon. I don't have that many of them so it will be a lot more 2wd buggies and then various trucks out there that were not intended for track use so that should be interesting!! I am glad you are enjoying them and I will try to get them out fairly regularly. Between the other build and run videos. I appreciate the helpful and kind comments!!!
Looking forward to some more laps. As for how you do it, it’s your track, you can do it anyway you want to. What’s the worst that could happen? Have an argument with yourself about how fair it is? It would be interesting to see what effect different modifications would have on lap times. Maybe take a standard car (maybe a DT-03 or TT02B) and do several laps, each with different mods.
Thanks, I argue with myself enough as is!! I will probably have a couple that will make a repeat appearance like the Rising Fighter that will get those oil filled shocks and get a second run.
Thanks, it was a lot of fun and a bit of a challenge swapping from car to car like that. It did kind of increase the fun but maybe decreased the lap times a tiny bit.
Great stuff Addam!!!! I wonder how the GH would do against the HB, both come with the 380 motor, springs for shocks..... The Granite set the bar, is there anything that could take it down? We shall be watching to find out.
I am pretty sure the HB would win that fight stock vs stock. The better friction shocks, steering and better tires all lend it to the HB winning that battle. The current state of my HB should smoke it with the filled shocks and GT Tuned motor but would it just spin out and do donuts all over the place?? That is the question. If I could put clean laps in I think it would crush the hopper. I think their may be one or two cars in the collection that will be running that will be faster than the Granite!
Fantastic video, What a great idea. I hope to get a Tamiya kit so this might give me a better idea what to buy. It will be my first build but I want to drive the thing as much as build it. Waiting to see what you run next!
Thanks and I hope it could be helpful and informative in a loosely fun and poor analytical manner!! 93.5% fun and 6.5% educational 🤣🤣🤣 Just a recommendation in general for a good first buggy would be the Neo Fighter. It is budget friendly and comes with oil filled shocks and an upgraded motor and can be a super simple paint job as well!! It will be run soon as well and there was a recent run video of it with the Grasshopper II
