      @@gianluca4254 I don't want to watch the video again. I don't know where is the moment with "Krzysztof". What I am talking about is at the very beginning, I think around 0:14 where he spells Karel Opočenský wrongly. The fact he is a Slav as well makes it interesting for me, but I only mention it as a contradiction to the author of this thread statement. Btw. all those Polish "krzst" just call for being spelled wrong .. lol .. sorry :))

      His pronunciation is generally exemplary, but not faultless.
      See Duda pronounced by Poles. It sounds very close to non-native Poles, but worlds apart to native Polish speakers. As the grandson of Polish-American emigres I hear my grandparents speak glowingly of J.K. Duda with an odd regularity.

      @Brad Heilmanit is not, it's a "je" sound, rather than "jo". It's a common mistake, since in Russian the letter "ё" (jo) has its dots often omitted in writing. People often assume that "Алехин" is "Алёхин" with the omitted dots, since it sounds more natural in Russian. But it's not.

    • @coceg87
      @coceg87 5 лет назад +1

      @Brad Heilman if Wikipedia is not good enough of a source, you can refer to memoirs of Georgy Rimsky-Korsakov about his classmate Alekhin. You can find the text here chesspro.ru/_events/2007/voronkov_alekhine_1.html.
      "Алехин, однако, не любил, когда искажали его дворянскую фамилию. Так, когда наш "батюшка" о.Розанов, вызывая Алехина отвечать урок по Закону Божию, постоянно называл его "Олёхиным", с крепким ударением на букву "ё", то будущий чемпион мира также неизменно поправлял почтенного служителя церкви, говоря: "Моя фамилия, батюшка, Алехин, а не Олёхин"."
      "Alekhin, however, didn't like his noble family name to be distorted by others. When our "Father" f. Rozanov, calling Alekhin on, to answer on the God's Law lesson, constantly referred to him as "Olyokhin", with a strong stress on the letter "yo", the future world champion, also constantly, corrected the elderly church worker, saying "My family name, father, is "Alekhin", not "Olyokhin"".

    You need a powerful cpu to analyze this game. Intel i9 or ryzen 9. In 1:51 Computer makes people believe Nb4 is a mistake because in year 2000-2010 low end computers don't believe that it is playable and so that is why people today doesn't play it anymore.

    9:03 - After Black moves his Bishop to C5, wouldn't Queen captures rook on D7 be checkmate?
    (I'm not particularly good/experienced with chess so please let me know how Black escapes that check)
    edit: White is in check so he can't do that move - see replies

      B:c5 is check, so white has to move his king (which he does). He has no time to capture at d7

      The white king is in check from the C5 bishop so queen captures on D7 is not a legal move.
