Partial disassembly.
Very important: when replacing a laptop display remove the battery, because you have voltage on de LCD connector even if the laptop is off, and you can burn the LCD port very easily
Great video and I am going to be doing the same thing to my Ideapad pretty soon.
As much as it looks easy to do, I still would give this job to professionals like you. I ain't doing it myself because that LCD is really expensive to buy.

Black band across bottom of screen, about 3 centimeters deep, with a pink and green line separating the black band and the working area of the screen, just for reference in case it helps anyone.

Do you mean the LVDS cable? The one between the screen and the motherboard? Of course you can replace only the cable.
