Why do you take apart the computer just to replace the screen? Is that necessary?

You'll have to take it apart to disconnect the cable that links the screen to the main motherboard

Rather than replace just the lcd screen, is it possible just to replace the whole screen?
It would have been good to know with some text explanation what all the things you unplugged were before you took the screen off? E.g. what were:
1:28 What was that you unplugged? Is that the battery? So you don't get a shock?
2:04 Is that the speaker being unplugged?
2:18 Is that the screen itself being unplugged?
1 you can't get a shock by touching cables. And even if you manage to get a shock it won't hurt
2 that's the wifi adapter. The cables lead to the monitor, because putting the antenna for wifi inside of the monitor gives a better signal
3 yes, those metal things on each side makes it so that you can flip the monitor
