ALL of my unanswered questions! Note: since recording this video, some plot points that were not clear *to me* were explained. I'll list them below:
    * Q: What was so special about Queen Iduna? A: By saving Prince Agnarr, she showed the spirits that she was the only one of the two people who had compassion and as a result was rewarded with the chance to give birth to Elsa, who would be the 5th spirit. This is why she knew all this because the spirits told her. Other Northuldra wouldn't know this.
    * Q: Why did Elsa have powers? A: Because the spirits deemed her the chosen one. But this answer still doesn't explain WHY she was given ice powers specifically, (instead of say, all of four of them) if she was supposed to be the bridge between the spirits and physical world.
    * Q: Who was the voice? A: Supposedly it's Queen Iduna. I'll have to watch it again to see. I think I was just too captivated by the "Show Yourself" scene to notice.

I agree with your thoughts on Elsa only specifically having ice powers. Through the movie, after the reveal of her becoming the 5th spirit, I kept expecting the other elemental powers to manifest in her and was a little disappointed when they didn't come.

  • @IanJulian02
    @IanJulian02 4 года назад +34

I'm gonna try to explain a few of these questions as how I saw them.
    (1) Iduna and Agnar knew each other as kids in the forest. We see a memory of them as children in Ahtohallan. Thus, Agnar already had a connection with Iduna, and as the new king, Agnar likely knew Iduna had nowhere to go because she was Northoldra. Thus, he likely took her in at the castle. Since Iduna and Agnar had a connection already. It isn't farfetched to assume they'd develop a love for each other. Especially since for Iduna, Agnar would be the only person she knows in Arendel.
    (2) Iduna was implied to be from a special lineage amongst the Northoldra. They claim that Iduna is form the earliest family. There is another subtle hint that Iduna has a more magical orgin in Ahtohallan. There is a breif memory where she tells Agnar, "I need to tell you truth about who I am," (something like this anyway) but the King and Queen are adults in the memory. It doesn't seem likely that Iduna hide from Agnar that she is Northuldra. Considering they meet and played in the Enchanted Forest and Iduna kept her scarf. Iduna was likely elaborating that she has a connection to Ahtohallan. Idunna's lullaby is clearly a message to Elsa. Its a sort of prophecy. Iduna was also seen interacting with Gale. Almost commanding the wind to save Agnar. We see him float anyway at the end of Agnar's tale. Iduna clearly knew Ahtohallan was real too. She even starts to sing with Elsa at Ahtohallan, not just as a memory. She is singly to her at the moment, so her spirit lives on at Ahtohallan.
    (3) Iduna likely felt that she could not tell her daughters the secrets of her past, but she wanted the pieces to be there anyway. I doubt the king and queen thought they were going to die on their journey, so I think they likely would have told Elsa everything if they returned.
    (4) This one is semi answered in the video, but Iduna clearly already had a special connection to the spirits and Ahtohallan. She was almost a virgin Mary to the 5th spirit.
    (5) Elsa was born with powers as a representation of magic. The movie makes several references to how anna does not have powers. She is human. Elsa is magical. The 5th spirit is not just Elsa. It's Elsa and Anna. Anna represents humanity and its strengths. It is her, not Elsa, that subdues the Giants. Elsa even says at the end that they are a pair. A bridge has two sides. Their duality is also shown in how they are a mixture of Arendal and the Nortuldra.
(6)The voice is Iduna. It is calling to Elsa because she has awakened her powers in Frozen 1 and is now a point where she has something to fight for. It was just time for the past to be righted because Elsa and Anna had grown into their own.
    (7) Now the spirits kinda confused me at first too, but they are seemingly based on Nordic Mythology. I feel like the movie does make it clear those 4 are the spirts. We seem them in into the unknown, during show yourself, and King Agnars tale during the opening. Why they are differing beings ... magic, I guess. The spirts are souls. We see the powers of water, earth, fire, and wind attack without the presence of any of the beings. It seems like the spirit beings are just representations of the spirits, not the spirits themselves. It also seems like Gale is more than just wind. Gale chimes and whistles almost like a bird, and it clearly has some kind of consciousness.
    (8) Elsa is a representation of the 5th spirit. Her powers are more than ice. She can give life and alter reality to an extent. She kinda enters a different dimension during "into the unknown." Ice is also very special in nordic mythos if I remember correctly. Ahtohallan is also a glacier and that's where Elsa and iduna have a connection too.
    (9) ... you kinda got me here chief. Ahtohallan did kinda have arbitrary reasonings for Elsa's death and revival. My best guess is that she went to far when she got the final piece to solve the conflict. She had to then rely on her other half, anna, to finish the job.
    (10) Elsa did not have to live in the enchanted forest. She chooses too. She decided to live amongst the magic that she too is a part of. The whole movie had her feeling like an outsider in Arendal because of her magic, but in the forest, she felt free.
    (11) Elsa likely travels to Ahtohallan because she has an innate connection to it.

5:40 What had made her ready at this point to hear the voice and then accept the call?
I think the answer was hidden in the lyrics of 'Into the unknown'. One of the lines is 'Everyday's a little harder as I feel my power grow' which implies that Elsa's powers kept on growing after The Great Thaw. I think the voice only started calling to her when her power had grown strong enough to tame the other spirits, which was necessary for her to reach Ahtohallan and reveal the memories that needed to be revealed in order to lift the mist from the Enchanted Forest.

I think what made Elsa "go to far" and freeze in Ahtohallan was her following the depictions/memories of the soldiers deeper in to the glacier & jumping down into the glacier instead of turning around.Once Elsa jumped down and went even deeper into the glacier, there was no turning back. We could see that the longer she watched the events unfold, she froze more and more. So, like in the song, she dove too deep, went too far in the memories and "drowned"/froze trying to figure out the truth of what happened.

Why is Elsa the special one and not Anna? Well, cause she was born first. When she was born and the spirits gave her these powers, Anna literally didn't exist yet and no one knew if the King and Queen would have any more kids.

@Optimus Prime the thing with frozen 2 is that the ending was very open, so the writers can choose to bring the story in any direction they want to. To be fair, at the end of frozen, there weren't that many unanswered questions either, but due to the success of frozen they made a frozen 2, and should frozen 2 do just as well or better, the cycle would likely repeat.

I loved the movie but they made that plot way too complicated for a children movie and in the end we still have more questions than after the first movie. Anyway... I wish they kept it more simple.
Also a few other things that I don't get:
    - Is Elsa immortal now?! Since she is the fifth element and is the one who can kind of calm the other ones? I mean, what would happen if she was to pass away, the fifth element would disappear?
    - I didn't get why Elsa freezes at some point...
    - Why did their mom looked 100% white and nothing like the little girl she was? Kind of annoyed me.
-How did destroying the bridge unfroze Elsa, like seriously, how?!
-What is Elsa doing now in the Enchanted Forest? People there already had a leader and I don't really feel like there's much to do for her except playing with her powers...
And so many more but these are the main ones.

      About Elsa freezing,
In the lullaby it says, "dive down deep into her sound, but not to far or you'll be drowned."
Which means if Elsa went to deep into the past it would overwhelm her so much that she would drown.(in this case freeze). I think she was only allowed to reach a certain point in the past and not go farther.
About the bridge- As you know their grandfather built it as a sign of peace but it was a trick to be-friend the Northuldra That was the wrong doing, that made the spirits mad.
When the dam was destroyed, the mistake of long ago had been fixed and that past was no longer relevant,so elsa was let go.
About Elsa living in the enchanted forest- She is the bridge that connects the other spirits and Arendelle to the Northuldra, so I guess she just helps keep the peace and protect the forest.
Well that's just my explanation, hope you understood something.😅

I also have a new theory in regard to Elsa's ice powers, after seeing the movie. Spoilers, obviously- So, if Ahtohallan is basically a frozen river, a glacier, and the memories that the water store within itself can only be viewed when using ice, maybe it has a symbolic connection to the fact that the forest gifted Elsa with ice powers because the forest remembers what really happened that separated the Northuldra and Arendelle from each other, and because of this memory, imbued in ice and forever preserved, Elsa was given ice powers as well. It's a less credible than my previous theory about Iduna actually being the shapeshifting Nokk, which could explain the water-ice relationship, but that's all I've got so far.

Elsa says to the Northuldra in the end that Ahtohallan is beautiful, so I assume they only know about it, but have never seen it. Which leads me to think she is the only one that can go there.
About the song: I think people are over-interpreting it. I feel like it's just a lullaby that Elsa eventually finds answers in, not necessarily Iduna's way of telling Elsa something in a cryptic way - remember, when we see her sing it, the accident with Anna hasn't happened yet and they probably weren't scared of her powers yet. Who even says that Iduna had all the answers before she died, they literally went on a trip to actually FIND OUT.
Obviously Elsa was the "chosen one" because she is the first born. The movie also explains that the two of them together actually represent the bridge, not Elsa by herself. One sister is magic, one sister is not. And their bond is supposed to fix the fight between the two sides and bring everything back into balance. That's basically their "destiny" if you will.
She froze because she went too deep into Ahtohallan and was freed once the misdeed of her grandfather had been rectified.
Elsa simply decided she wanted to live there because she always felt misplaced in Arendelle and didn't feel like she could do it justice. She belongs with the other spirits. That's literally what the movie was about, Elsa finding out where she belongs.

I, myself have a lot of questions after seeing the film the other day and I do relate to some of your questions.
Regarding the voice calling Elsa I really feel like its her mother, the queen Iduna, because it is shown at the part wherein she saves the king, she hums the tune of the "voice"... so I'm thinking that even though they are dead, Queen Iduna's spirit can still somehow connect with Ahtohallan or the elements since she has this special connection with them... the wind spirit kinda like let them escape in the first place since it also helped her in hiding on the wagon... and that Iduna can call out to Elsa seeing that she is ready to take her place as the 5th spirit.. Elsa later on discovers that the voice was the call of Iduna from memories of the past, and that her power was a gift from the magic of nature because of Iduna's selfless act of saving Agnarr, making her the fifth spirit who unites differences. Elsa then wields her mother's mantle of the fifth spirit.
For the spirits.. the wind spirit or Gale was proved to be one of the more difficult characters to visualize for the animators, as wind does not have a physicality to it. Early visual development portrayed Gale as an ethereal being. Eventually, it was decided that Gale would interact with leaves, sticks, and debris to identify itself... But then maybe the earth spirit or the giants are really just many in number because they like form rock structures or mountains...
How the king and queen ended up together is still a blur but... then after escaping, Iduna became a resident of Arendelle, then she and Agnarr became acquainted. However, Agnarr never knew Iduna was the one that rescued him, nor the fact that she originated from Northuldra... so Iduna kept this a secret due to the clashing between their people..
Regarding the being queen one, the official website of Disney just said ''They became acquainted and eventually fall in love and marry, making her the queen and having two daughters.'' yepp okay then hahaha
Because of Iduna’s selfless act of heroism, the spirits rewarded her by gifting her first daughter, Elsa, with magical powers-the ability to control ice and snow. Iduna was unaware of the origins of Elsa’s powers, but nevertheless accepted her daughter’s uniqueness. Probably because ice and snow can take form of air, water and earth since its solid but not really sure for the fire part.. probably because ice is stronger than fire..
At the end probably Ahtohallan became Elsa's sanctuary kinda like her ice castle before but this time she feels free and can definitely feel it is where she's meant to be...
So these are some of my thoughts...........
I KNOW THIS MOVIE TURNS ME INTO A PHILOSOPHER OR WHATEVER HAHAHA

ahtohallan seems like a place all the nothudral people know through lullabies. maybe it is a place of spiritual awakening or where the source is strong there? Elsa seeing visions of her mother there maybe confuses the audience into thinking iduna left elsa a message there but then why would iduna sail there or even how would iduna have left the message if the parents ship capsized. I think this is a result of the story being simple yet a little convoluted in the way they tell their story.
i also assume ahtohallon is both a place to gain spiritual awakening but at the same time you can maybe be lost or consumed by it (kind of like the black hole cave in last jedi where the first jedi temple is light but there is a cave of dark force under it...there are both sides of the force both light and dark to balance it out). So when its revealed her grandfather betrayed the nothudral people... it is showing the corruption of man and elsa becomes consumed by this. Only by anna breaking the dam can they fix what their grandfather did and free elsa from this.
And elsa living in the forest is maybe her way of righting the wrongs of what her grandfather did. she sees the forest and the inhabitants needs to be protected should anything like what her grandfather did happen again.

My theory is this Queen Iduna was the daughter of the chef who was slaughtered, by elsa and anna other grandfather , so she was double Queen because she when she married there father she became Queen again, I feel like Iduna was the 5th Spirit since it was her voice that lured elsa into autahallian, and since she was the 5th spirit she created a bridge that has 2 sides, elsa and anna making her oldest daughter elsa have powers, to connect with the elements, that's why she was soo intuned to the predestined to the story sung to elsa and anna

Fun fact- for a long time, I had a theory that Iduna was actually THE NOKK, since in nordic mythology, the nokk are mostly female water spirits that can shapeshift, who can lure people with their singing, and the water association could've explained Elsa's connection to ice.

@@Rotoscopers yeah realistically it would be impossible for Iduna to marry Agnar, but again this is Disney we're talking about. Anna finally got to marry Kristoff at the end, and he is not a Royal Breed either. So, I think it still make sense that Iduna became Queen simply because Agnar fell in love with her. He would then perhaps convinced the council to allow him to marry Iduna. She saved his life after all. And also he is already King once they managed to get out of the enchanted forest (His father died so he ascended the throne as next in line). Technically, whatever the King wants, he gets it. It's his prerogative as monarch.

My answers and theories about your questions:
    1. How Queen Iduna became Queen: she saved the King, she and him became friends, then lovers, then a royal couple. Arendellians have no clue that hostilities happened inside the enchanted forest, they only know that an unspecified curse engulfed the forest and people got trapped in. King Agnarr was the only person except the Queen that knew that hostilities even happened and i don't think that the fact was widely known (because from what we saw no one outside the forest really knew) and because it seems Queen Iduna was beloved, so no one treated her like an enemy or something. So, a good girl from a tribe in tune with nature escaped the magic entrapment of the magic forest saving the king, eventually winning the heart of the king and became queen.
    2. How she knew about Atahallan: She was a member or a tribe that was in tune with nature and in communication with the spirits. Either the song and the story was etched in the culture and the stories and myths of the tribe or, she was informed about the message of the song from a spirit or the spirits and she formed it into a song. At the point that she sings it, she already is aware that her daughter has magic powers. I'd wager she thought that the song is meant for Elsa or for a person like Elsa. The spirits chose her to give birth to the fifth spirit, unclear if she knew about it or not. They go searching they go searching for answers with the King, eventually dying because she knew from the song/myth/stories that there is the place to find answers. I don't think she understood that that place is not meant for everyone. The water killed them because they attempted to go to a "holy" place, meant for spiritual beings.
3.She gave the information to her daughters through song because they were little girls and a song and a lullaby was the perfect way to give them information, comfort and joy. She didn't gave them a lesson, she didn't lectured the girls, she lovingly sung a song to them. Simple, elegant, informative, entertaining.
    4. Nothing is special about Queen Iduna herself, except for the fact that she showed that she is a good person by saving the Prince Agnarr, that she is a person in tune with the nature and the spirits and she lives in the regular world, ruling over a non-magical place. All these factors made her the perfect vessel to bring to the world the fifth spirit, connecting the spirits themselves and the spirits and the non-magical, regular world. Remember, Elsa is the only truly sentient spirit and she tamed all the other spirits before she become the centre, the fifth spirit, the crucial element connecting all elemental powers.
    5. Elsa was born with powers because the spirits decided that a child born from a girl in tune with the spirits and nature and a boy that ruled his regular, non magical people is the ideal being to be the fifth elemental, the centre, the fifth spirit connecting alll the others. That's why it's Elsa (the first born) and not Anna that has powers: she is just the first born child destined to be gifted the essential fifth elemental spirit power. If Anna had powers she would be a 6th spirit, not just a person with powers. That's also the reason that no other human has powers.
    6. The voice is calling her now, because in that point in time, her powers have fully matured. She doesn't have absolute grasp of the magnitude of her powers but she can control them. At that point in time, relaxed, content, self aware, the voice is calling her to guide her to her true purpose, to her whole self.
    7. The spirits are different because that's the nature that the spirit themselves represent: water is wild, transparent, capricious, dangerous. The wind is strong, soothing, catastrophic, invisible. The fire is like a childlike salamander, transformative, fast etc. The earth takes many shapes, sizes but always firm and strong, like a mountain, a hill, and other geographical features, that's why the earth spirits are a family.
    8. Elsa is the fifth spirit because she is sentient, she is already herself a bridge between 2 worlds, because her power is capable of interacting with all the others (she tamed the water spirit, she dominated the wind spirit, she won against the fire spirit and befriended it, she had power over the earth spirits. Elsa is the fifth spirit exactly because is a human born, ice powered being. And yes, after her thawing (or resurrection) she is essentially a nymph or a small goddess or demi-goddess. Unknown if she is immortal or functionally immortal or if her human body can perish.
    9. She went to far as in too deep in the cave/ glacier and she went too deep into the memory of the water and the centre of the spiritual power. She went literally too deep, to a place meant for no one. She was the only capable of understanding the meaning of the water memories, frozen in time and in ice, because she is the only sentient powered being and by going too far, by understanding fully what she sees and feels and is, she is overwhelmed and she is frozen. Her, the Ice Queen unable to function there, frozen is the ultimate death of her former self. Elsa the Queen of Arendelle, the Ice Queen died and out of there came out Elsa the fifth elemental spirit.
    10. Atahallan keeps literally all the secrets and history of the world. It's a forever frozen place, enchanted, in a world where the water literally has memory. Elsa, a sentient spirit in human flesh with ice powers is literally the only person, the only being capable of unlocking the secrets there.
    That was long.
I hope i got some things right.

But also in the movie, didn't Honeymaren mention that Queen Iduna was from the oldest family in the Nothuldran tribe and that the scarf was passed between generations of Iduna's Family? I still feel like there are a lot of missing pieces about Iduna and her childhood; Also I feel like the writers could have definitely created a scene where Elsa and Anna talk to someone who was close with Iduna in her childhood and who also knows more about Atohallan.

  • @CrystallynRose
    @CrystallynRose 4 года назад

A lot of people have given their take on the questions, I figured I'd answer a few that I think I figured out:
I was also curious why Ahtohallan would freeze Elsa (I was searching videos trying to figure out why...which is how I found this video) . I found a series of videos that showed the scene where Elsa she sees all the ice memories and, after rewatching it, I realized when Elsa went too far and hence drowned. The part where Elsa follows her grandfather down this passageway, Ahtohallan warns her at this point by singing the section of the lullaby that goes "Dive down deep into the sound/But not too far or you'll be drowned". At that point she reaches a cliff and she watched the scene and got her answer and could've (more like should've) turned around at that point (she knew the king's plan and that the dam needed to be destroyed to fix everything). But like how the song says "can you face what the river knows"...she couldn't deal with what she saw and needed to see more so she jumped down (that was the point where she went too far). That's when she started freezing (drowning) and I think she froze partially because she went too far and partially because she couldn't face was she was seeing (she seemed to freeze more as she got more upset at what she was seeing).
I also think the voice is Ahtohallan but she used Iduna's voice to make Elsa more comfortable and perhaps realized that it might be more likely to draw Elsa to her as Elsa would subconsciously know it was her mom's voice or at least it'd be somewhat familiar to her. And that's also part of the reason Ahtohallan felt like home to her. I think Ahtohallan decided to take the image of Elsa's dead mother to help Elsa connect to her as Ahtohallan appears to be a formless spirit and needed the image of Iduna as an interface to interact with Elsa. Also Ahtohallan is referred to as a mother in the lullaby. Not sure if it's because Ahtohallan takes a motherly appearance for people who visit? Or perhaps the lullaby was always just meant for Elsa and Elsa was the only one that was ever meant to go to Ahtohallan and as Ahtohallan seems to be powerful and all-knowing, she was able to put this lullaby into the Northaldren's culture knowing that years down the line, Elsa was going to learn it from her mother and it'd help her eventually reach Ahtohallan.
As for Elsa going back to Ahtohallan, she did feel a tie to it and said it felt like home. I think there was a conscious decision on the filmmakers part to make Ahtohallan at least partially reminiscent of the Fortress of Solitude in Superman where, coincidentally, Superman could see/interact with a dead parent there and gain wisdom by visiting it. There are visual similarities that make Ahtohallan look a lot like the Fortress of Solitude (especially the fact that both are made of ice), that I wouldn't be surprised that the filmmakers were inspired by this and made Elsa her own little Fortress of Solitude. Especially when Elsa feels so alien in Arendelle, I can see the appeal of such a place. I think she also decided to stay in the Enchanted Forest because she felt a bit alien in Arendelle and she felt more at home with the spirits in the forest. Though she is also still close with her sister and friends, which is why she goes and visits them weekly.

My theory why Elsa has ice powers is:
Because of Athohollan - it's a glacier which is ice
SO it makes sense when her powers came from Athohollan that she has ice powers!
    Also my theory
she was the fifth spirit because her mom called for her when she saved her dad.
And the call was like a sos signal for all the people who got locked in the enchanted forest and she could escape and Elsa's the fifth spirit which is the reason she could go into the forest and that's why she was the bridge - the fifth spirit
(meaning she's part Northuldra and Arendelian is the bridge together with her powers)
Hope some of you think so too qwq

Optimus Prime yeah i‘d love to see an animated series or something like that, that explores the world the mythology and the characters. That could help to really give us answers. Also it would be a chance to show us more about young Iduna and Agnarr, maybe young Elsa and Anna, also the time between the accident and the parents death or something. I’d find that to be very interesting to watch. Not so much interested in the future of these characters, like I don’t want to see Kristoff and Anna having children and than possibly set the focus on them. That just takes away from the original characters that made Frozen what it is. But that’s also personal preference. I never liked that. Like for example they did something similar for Lion King, didn’t they? I didn’t mind that too much but I also didn’t really care. But with frozen I feel like it would actually take away from the story, for me.
I really hope they don’t do that.
So after getting that of my chest....
An animated series could be really good. Could be. Relies on what they decide to do. But I would really like something that explains more how this world works and explore more of the already existing characters we already are invented in.

Why Queen Iduna know Ahtohollen? *srry 4 the typo* .. if she know that place from her family, than "why she knows the map to go to Ahtohollen?" "is she ever go to there so she know where is the place?" Ok, this is so make sense right? And than.. why she can sing "Ahh Ahh Ahh Ahh~~"? In the movie, mayB just fifth spirit can hear it.. look, because "Anna can't hear it, just Elsa that can hear it who is the fifth element".. "Iduna is the fifth element to before? But her power is not too strong when she and Agnar go to Ahtohollen so she can't go to Ahtohollen?" Or "she is in Ahtohollen?" Look.. in "All Is Found" song, there's a lyrics that says "she will sing to those who'll hear" so.. is that Iduna that sing that to Elsa? I didn't know.. mayB "Iduna wanted Elsa to be the fifth spirit because her power not too strong?" "Iduna in the fact is live?" And than.. why in Ahtohollen "there is just Elsa and Iduna memorys" we can't found Anna or Agnar story right? And.. "why Elsa sing Show Yourself with Iduna/her mother when Iduna just in the memorys? It isn't make sense right? Sooo...... "Iduna is the real fifth spirit but her power not to strong so she choose Elsa who is her DAUGHTER because she know Elsa power is more strong than hers? But Iduna never tells anyone.. that's why when Agnar tell the story to Elsa and Anna, Iduna just keep silent? Not make totally sense if Elsa's power is a give and there isn't altought 75% DNA from her father or her mother right? And Iduna also life to sing the song for Elsa? Or... that will be in Frozen 3 if Frozen 3 will be come in the next sime year?"
We don't know.. this is just "the unaswered question that really make sense and be mystery theory that we can found".. sorry if it was to long and have many typo, i'm not good at English.. reply or like if we are same..

Im pretty sure Iduna survived on her own... After all she's used to the forest much like kristoff... We never knew where kristoff came from until he was adopted by the trolls.. Either that or the castle took her in but its impossible since agnarr doesnt know who saved him or he does know and just didnt wanna tell the kids for their safety... Knowing that the people in arendelle are enemies with the northuldra and iduna.. Who is a person in hostile territory only shared what she was to agnarr hence the scene "i have to tell you where i came from and who i really am" in the glacier..
So Iduna either was adopted by the royal family, found by an orphanage, survived on her own but im betting she was taken in by someone else..
Iduna can be queen since shes been chosen by the King, Agnarr, to be so after all its a monarchy a King can alter the rules whenever he wants and i dont think the council would be disagreeing since there wouldnt be any harm for agnarr or arendelle to marry a random person.. For anna she can marry kristoff but that doesnt mean Kristoff has to be King that is solely on the decision of Kristoff and Anna alone.. This applies to both Iduna and Agnarr regardless of common monarchy rules and tradition and yeah its fictional so anything can happen much like how they now added dark skinned characters in arendelle unlike before in the first movie despite the story supposedly originating from a european scandanavian country or something...
Iduna if u remember was the only one playing with gale among any other kids in the movie.. Implying she has a special relationship with the spirit or some other spirits.. The act of saving agnarr prolly made iduna a worthy person (saved an 'enemy' 5ttt65yshowing genuine love and compassion) and like the spirits prolly vouched for her hence becoming the person to be gifted by the spirits with the RESPONSIBILITY of raising elsa.. The person who can save and unite the spirits who were broken apart due to the conflicts caused by the war and the dam that weakened their flow of power that came from the north or atohollan....
Its possible that the these ANCIENT spirits have had a constant relationship with northuldra people and its a possibility that there were previous people who can communicate with these spirits much like how Elsa can understand burni, or knokk, like some sort of connection... These spirits may have no doubt shared the story of altohollan to the chosen people or chiefs and it became a legend to them that was just passed on through generations... And plus altohollan may be some sort of 'mother' to the spirits since she is kind of like the all knowing entity here in the movie the source of power and knowledge and memories.. So it doesnt mean it wasnt an encryption but most likely a prophecy... And it is UNLIKELY that iduna knows that elsa is destined to go to altohollan and endager herself i mean she herself tried to go there to find answers too
Im pretty sure that altohollan can be accessed by anyone as long as they do survive or are deemed worthy to enter but without any special powers they wont get any further down the glacier.. Elsa was gifted by the spirits with the ability to get passed through the harsh COLD air surrounding the area and was immune to snow and ice and such... Being able to manipulate ice made Elsa find her way deep into the glacier hence she has all the right to get there and make it.. But even so diving down too deep can cansume one to drown metaphorically too.. Knowing too much can be dangerous and it did kill elsa.. In this sense knowing the truth left elsa frozen.. Speechless now for anna to HAVE the SPOTLIGHT the story shifted to elsa sending the truth to anna so that a non-magic person the can compensate for the actions of non -magic users or haters such as their grandfather who saw magic as a dangerous entity WHICH is not according to elsa and the movie... So to MAKE IT RIGHT she has to destory the dam the embodiment of a barrier between the waters of altohollan and arendelle or the barrier between magic and non magic or the 2 sides of the bridges.. Anna non gifted and else gifted.. That despite their different ways of living they are united much like the spirits.. In short anna is the embodiment of the "next right
    thing"

Is anybody going to ask what this strange script with runes was that was found by Anna and Elsa in wrecked ship? Like where did their parents got it, and why there was note about Atohallan on it?
Also, like excuse me but what about this "special" family tree was Northuldra people speaking of when they first saw girls mom palto? Queen Iduna was some kind of royalty among her people, or sth? Also this palto, or a scarf I don't know how to call it, has 4 elements gravered on it. Was queen Iduna supposed to born a 5th element from the day of her birth? And also did Elsa's grandfather killing this old man and kinda killed a 5th spirit doing this? Was it Iduna's grandfather? It would explain a lot. A NEED ANSWERS???

From the lullaby I think Iduna is Ahtohallan. There's a mother full of memories maybe Iduna is like a god in the movie that was shaped into a human being.. I think that's why she was able to call the wind spirit. "There's a mother full of memories"
My question is how did Iduna become Queen of Arandelle when she's a Northuldra. By the time king Agnarr came back.. Northuldras and Arandellians? shouldnt have that good relationship right?

in the 3rd movie, the salamander evolves into a dragon.. dragon=fire..
the horse remains a horse, the giants have hive mind ( just one being ) and the wind ( gale ) was just invisible, she will show physical form later on. the voice calling elsa in the beginning was herself from the future? or other self?
elsa is supposed to command the physical elements, anna is to command the hearts. that is how their destiny was written.
while atohallan is just a rip off of the "fortress of solitude" castle of cosmic knowledge, just kidding on that part..

anyway, I think that the last element was the soul so it was Elsa herself as one part of the bridge (as well as Anna). And why ice? cause ice is an important part of norse mythology as well as the most important part of HChristian Andersen's story of Ice Queen which was an inspiration.

I was confused about the Spirits too, especially about the giants. But when I rewatched the movie, I started to think that the creatures I saw on the screen weren't EXACTLY the Spirits, but only the living manifestation of them.
I see this more or less like that: there are five Spirits, which exist from the beginning of "Frozen" world/universe/whatever, which are especially connected to Northuldra tribe (for some unknown reason, maybe just because they are natives, who knows). The Spirits are some kind of higher beings, like the five self-aware types of magic which exist in the world. You know, for me "the spirit" is here a word for "the inteligent creature which IS MAGIC itself, is everywhere and surrounds us, and which is able to control an element of nature it represents". Not gods. More like angels, great protectors or something.
But creatures we've seen are definitely NOT the Spirits themselves.
    Why I think that:
    1) In the flashback we can see that the elements of nature (not the giants/water horses/fire salamanders) help Northuldra people. And for me that's the way the Spirits had helped the Nolthuldra tribe before the clash - through elements, not through living creatures.
    2) Northuldra people know the giants, even Honeymaren or Rider, who was born after the clash and the whole mist thing. Which means the giants lived and moved even when the Earth Spirit was "asleep" (before Elsa woke it), so the giants are not Earth Spirit itself. They are just magical creatures which lives in the Enchanted Forest, just like (in my opinion) water horses or fire salamanders.
    3) When Elsa wakes the Spirits, it's elements, not giants or Nokk or Bruni, who get people out of the kingdom. (I think Gale also isn't there, because it sounds different from that howling wind which blows in Arendelle, but I don't have any evidence.) After destroying the dam that's also elements who "fix" Arendelle. There is no giant to fix the roads and no Bruni to light up lamps.
    4) This shining sign on the sky which appears twice in the movie also is not made by giants, Bruni, Nokk or Gale. Especially since Bruni and giants are nearly surprised when they see it (second appearance of the sign, after destroyong the dam). And after that Elsa says: "Arendelle will get a second chance, the Spirits agree about that" (in my language version at least). If she doesn't understand any of creatures she met, how does she know it? Even if she started to understand them after really becoming the Bridge, she wouldn't have time to go to the Forest and "talk" to them (at least with Fire and Earth). So, for me, she as the Bridge can communicate with the real Spirits, which are magic and which are invisible.
    5) Why five Spirits from the beginning? Honeymaren says that the Northuldra pattern, which is on Iduna's scarf, is very old (again, in my language version) and we can see that this pattern (which is a snowflake) already has all five parts symbolizing five spirits. Which means the Bridge exists as long as the rest of the Spirits.
Okay, so in my opinion Spirits are higher beings, self-aware types of magic and can control their elements. So what about living creatures we can see in the movie?
I guess the Spirits can manifest themselves not only in elements of nature, but also in some visible, living forms, because it's a Disney movie, u know. (And they want to give Elsa the magic pet and the magic mount, and even the magic postman... Anyway.) That means we (and Elsa, Anna etc.) can see Water Spirit as a water horse, Fire Spirit as a fire salamander, Earth Spirit as a giant, Wind Spirit as a whistling streak of wind and leaves and the Fifth Spirit (a.k.a. the Bridge) as a human strong connected to magic. Thanks to that there is a possibility to "taming elements" by taming creatures they are manifesting through. In a case where every Spirit manifest itself only through its element it's nearly impossible to fight them or tame them. Imagine fighting with whole wind (not only one tornado), whole water, whole fire or whole earth - I don't think it would be possible to win that fight, even for Elsa, when whole nature would be opposite to her.
But that doesn't mean that when for example Elsa's Nokk is in Ahtohallan, the Water Spirit isn't in Arendelle or in the Enchanted Forest. For me a "mind" of each Spirit, its true form, is somewhere "in heaven", kinda like a god, and each Spirit can manifest itself through its element of nature and through species that are bonded with this element, like giants with earth, water horses with water and fire salamanders with fire.
Because YES, I think there could be more water horses or fire salamanders. For me there was just no need to show more than one water horse and one fire salamander.
Last question and the greatest unknown is the Bridge. Like I said, I think that it exists along with the other elements from the beginning, because of pattern on Iduna's scarf and old age of this Northuldra snowflake symbol. If it has existed before Elsa, where and what it was?
I think it was always a human, because that's the main idea of existing the Bridge - to link the spiritual and the physical world, the Spirits and people. A tribe (probably only) which lives close with the Spirits is the Northuldra tribe, so in my opinion the Bridge always come from Northuldra. Maybe there was one line, one family, where the Spirit went for generations, but it's also possible that every generation the Spirit came to completely different people in whole tribe.
I guess the last Bridge was Iduna, Elsa's mother. It looks like she had strong connection with wind, which helped her save Agnarr. When the mist covered the Forest, the Spirits left it and... went to sleep? XD I guess, because Elsa later woke them. And if Spirits... were gone, or, to be more precise, were in their "heaven"/this place where they true are in their invisible form, wherever it is, there was also no Bridge, because the Fifth Spirit, well, was gone either. However, magic stayed in the world, because there was still mist - border of the Forest, and there was also a possibility to Elsa being born with the magical ice powers.
I don't know why Elsa has the ice powers (and why it's exactly ice), but I have a theory. See, if Ahtohallan knows all the past, and Grand Pabbie can see some future, why the Spirits couldn't be more powerful and see what ability or power the Bridge will need in its life? These could be different things in every case. We know that though the Bridge exists from the beginning, it haven't really helped people in the way the Spirits of nature have. But maybe it wasn't necessary and people who were the Bridge through centuries could only communicate with the Spirits in a closer way than the rest of the tribe. Or, like Iduna, they had really strong connection to one of the Spirits, which in her case helped her once. What if Elsa's powers, strong connected to water, which has memory, were given to her to help her find the truth about her parents and about herself, which leads her to crossing the Dark Sea and becoming the Bridge? What if she was given those powers, because before the clash no "Bridge candidate" had had to prove if they are worthy, cause the Spirits had been friendly to humans, and after the mist thing she was the first one who had to fight with the nature Spirits to get the place where she could become one of them? Maybe before Elsa there was no Bridge with powers because simply those powers were never needed?
I know it's plenty of "what if" and I'm not quite sure if it's logical or possible, but theories can be crazy and weird XD It still has more sense to me than "hey, Iduna could give birth to magical child cause u know, she once saved someone's life and surprisingly it turned out that the Spirits really liked it" :P
And in my opinion that first part about what the Spirits really are sounds quite good and logical ;) What do you think about it?
PS. Sorry for my English, it's not my native language. I've tried my best.

    • @szarywilkor1724
      @szarywilkor1724 4 года назад

About Ahtohallan and Iduna's knowledge - I think she and probably the rest of Northuldra knew that somewhere far north there was a river called Ahtohallan, which knew all the past and had all memories.
A common Northuldra lullaby is about Ahtohallan, there's also Northuldra phrase "only Ahtohallan knows", so I think it's kind of a myth for them - everyone knows it and most of them believes in it, but no one goes to check if it's true. I think ancient Greeks also have never reached Mount Olympus' peak to check if it really is the gods' living place.
When things started to be more and more complicated and Elsa wasn't able to control her powers, Iduna decided to look for answers about source of that powers and, what comes with it, about ways to control them. And because her tribe had always said about Ahtohallan as a magical place where "in her waters deep and true lie the answers and the path for you", she simply decided to try to find this river. When you played with wind as a child and now you have a daughter who shoot ice, it's not as stupid idea as it sounds XD
(And IF we link it with the theory about Iduna being the Bridge, she might think that because she was the Fifth Spirit, she was able to safely reach Ahtohallan. But we know that after the clash all the Spirits were gone, and Elsa, the next Bridge, was already on this world, so those are two reasons why Iduna was no longer the Bridge. Maybe she would really reach Ahtohallan if she was the Bridge in that time, but... she wasn't. And she drowned. Just a theory :P)
