Billy Corgan's screams are so authentic, coming from deep down from the bottom of his heart. A soul screaming and asking to be released. Perfect. Great era of rock. It's a great refugee to hide from today's bullxit
James was above average. Billy is one of the greatest guitarists on the face of this earth. I love seeing him heralded for songwriting, but sheeeit, that man can shred!
one of the greatest songwriters, guitarist is pushing it. every member plays their role perfectly in the pumpkins. All 3 guitar players, james, darcy, and billy are amazing. them as a whole are one of the greatest groups in history. but they couldn't get there without each other.
@StevieTVee92 Best guitarist of the 90s was James Dean Bradfield but I agree that these two are criminally underrated. Some of the solos on Gish and Siamese Dream are mindblowing, such as Geek USA, Bury Me and Soma.
good lord that's the coolest freakin thing ever.....no question. One of my most heartfelt wishes is that todays youth gets turned onto such music as this
Billy raided Mike Brady's wardrobe for this one...I saw them in concert during this era, he always dressed like this. Everything changed when he shaved his head....
The way he dressed changed a bit similar to how their sound changed didn't it. Gish and SD had a bit of that psychedelic rock and "Grunge" sound, mellon collie was different.
You're past potential when you played in one of the greatest bands in one of the greatest decades of music. What was fascinating about D'arcy was that she was the only person who would challenge Corgan The Conqueror. I think people tend to pick on her the most out of the band, when each member had some serious demons throughtout their career. Remember, she made it out of the industry alive. Not many people did in the 90's, and after she left, look what happend to Billy's ego and fame. .
@@OCTACHRON_iOS_Drum_Sequenceryeah I have no idea why I thought that was Butch Vig. The video quality is so low but I guess I thought the hairstyle was similar or something😒
@@leob4403 haha, yes, but it would have been cool indeed. Just ordered my siamese dream on vinyl. Its quite expensive, but I need to play it in my favorite bar Rennsalon here in Munich, where I dj sometimes ✌️😊
@@OCTACHRON_iOS_Drum_Sequencer atleast vinyls have good resell value so its not a bad investment. Theres also a mellon collie deluxe LP box set which looks pretty sweet. Oh cool Ill make sure to visit that bar if I ever visit Munchen 👍
Also the song cherokee warrior if you don't like neo classical. Cherokee warrior is almost like a blues rock song. He has so many songs and yet you choose 1 and say OMG hes playing so fast there is no feeling at all to playing. Yet you've only scraped the surface.
Songwriting is all that really matters and some people today have lost sight of that which is a little depressing for me because some people think you have to play like yngwie or steve vai to be a good guitar player i mean look at Clapton he is a legend but doesnt really play that fast, and all of the legendary alternative stuff like this isnt blazing fast but it sounds amazing
yeah those power chords are not what you think...some EJ type 3-string/note chords going on...watch closely. and Bill's turnarounds (the D to A) on each verse are atypical as well..until the chorus which are classic opens down at the bottom. he even has missy doing the ej stuff on the turnarounds..watch her fingerings.
I love D'arcy's back up vocals on this performance
You can actually hear her sing ! I LOVE IT !
Both D'Arcy AND James doing some of the back up vocals.....love it !
Everytime I hear this song I think “this is the best song ever”
Cuz it is. It's incredibly fun to play live too. So much energy. I don't think you could rock much harder than this song/performance.
That spot is reserved for Mayonaise...at least for me.
Ahh. To be in high school again. This is Smashing Pumpkins at their best. Love 'em.
god I wish I would have seen them at their beginning. I was just getting out of heavy metal and heavy distortion then. Jeez I love them now :)
decades later we still miss D'arcy
Goddam that solo. Billy is my favorite guitarist! Jimmy my fave drummer!
Wow you can actually hear D'arcys vocals in this
Alas.
Clearly. It's really interesting and refreshing to hear her so well. It's sounds raw and pure.
Man what happened to music? This was incredible had no idea then how great this actually was!
1:15-1:30 their singing together is so great
You could actually hear her throughout the whole song !
The 90s was fucking GLORIOUS for music if you were young back then
The super hot and mysterious D'Arcy....
James Iha's "I dont give a fuck" strum gets me every time. Immortal.
I wouldn't necessarily describe it as that......but absolutely couldn't be cooler :) luv it
@@garyives1218James Iha delivers and huge amount of talent with zero showing off, absolutely brilliant
I love Siamese Dream era Pumpkins. It's like hardcore for hippy hipsters.
The great 90's, we were so happy and we didn't know it. Long live Gen-X !!
Fuck yes. Music was GLORIOUS and we didn't realise how good
Thanks SNL - my introduction to the Pumpkins and Billy's snarl "let me out" and 20 years or so later...still a huge fan!
billy corgan really is one of the most underappreciated guitarists ever.
Not sure what's more beautiful: D'arcy hitting those high notes or the crowd shot at 2:00....I've watched this video at least 500 times.
nailed the solo
Yep. Corgan for the win
Set list:
0:01 - wonderwall
1:23 - Santeria
😆
4:34 - The Sound of Silence
This is the best video of Cherub Rock

Chamberlains is an animal on the drums. It looks like he isn't even struggling
Chamberland*
Chamberlin. Jimmy Chamberlin. Best drummer in rock music history.
Not even close.
couldn't be more impressed or entertained........tops
Chad Smith is a beast too

I love The Smashing Pumpkins. This is just awesome
3:07 even Billy was amazed with his solo!
People really don't realize how good his voice is. With all the 'screaming' he does and he can still sound soft and sweet! Talent right there folks!
We need sets like this again, the watching-from-every-random-place aesthetic is awesome
Can a 90s rock song be any better than that right there?! 😅
Nice clean solo!!!
this album helped to get me thru hell.
Aka high school
damn....great performance. Billy's solo is best performed right here.
Absofreakinglutly the best on top of the game!
Working hard like root’s time!
I loved it!
Awesome Performance!!!!!
Thank you for muting this for our enjoyment.

jimmy chamberlin is a beast.
What a performance.
Billy's got the Top Of The Pops, monitor above the stage checking himself out stare.
thx for posting! That said the editor was in imbecile-pans away when Billy's soloing .. :/
Great song, great performance! ✌️🎶😊
This tune is right out of 1968.
good lord that's the coolest freakin thing ever.....no question. One of my most heartfelt wishes is that todays youth gets turned onto such music as this
Billy dresses like a middle aged dad on vacation and I love it 😂
This is not how a middle aged dad dressed in 1993...
It's what hipsters do...wear a snow hat when ya dont need to
Cool. Never got into the band at the time, but they had some tunes.
D'arcy was so cute.
Fer Abra was..
Bryce Giordano stop
It's weird seeing the Bat Strat with almost no wear on it!
Kids, that's what ya call blowing the doors off.
darcy! and he nailed the solo
Jimmy chamberlain is an awesome drummer got to be in the top 15 drummers in the world
Only Billy could pull off such a godawful shirt and look so incredibly badass. Man I miss the 90s.
Sweet Ass shirt.
Thank You:).

Los 90 la última generación de verdad del rock.Ahora es todo postureo y nada más.
Does anyone have Footage of their performance of Geek u.s.a. from this same broadcast. Can't find it anywhere
She sure was beautiful in a very plain way. Very beautiful. Man, Cherub is one fucking kickass song.
just froze hearing this on the radio
such a menacing riff.
Fuckin great!!!
with those Giant Hands, of course hes great at guitar
Darcy was just so hot!
Luv da pumpkins!
Yes
that's so sick
This is the first time I ever heard the smashing pumpkins I remember my 10 year old brain exploding! haha
Fuckin' cool as hell!
The audio blows.
Cherub rock total time:4mins58 seconds Corgans live version 4:32
NICE
best bit 0:00 to 4:34
Malmsteen and Corgan/Iha are all different guitarists, and are incomparable.
the golden age.
I always search for a pre- 2008 version of this song. Jimmy missing from the drums is too much.
I agree dude, I've always said Pumpkins songs were the most intricate of the 90s alt rock legends.
is that Butch Vig rocking out in the back? epic performance

I don't care what anyone says....the Pumpkins are a much better band then Candlebox or Sponge.
rad shirt Billy
Saw them headline Lollapalooza 1994 w Beastie Boys. Nirvana was suppose to headline
Me too. It was an incredible performance. Molson Park, Barrie, Ontario. August 12th 1994.
that solo...
If you play them fast, then you're good.
i'm making my one month old baby watch this awesome video
bellaka08 bruh
I wish I was alive in 93.
Billy was really cool for about ten minutes there.

proper gear

Jimmy Hendrix best of all time Billy rocks in these days
Nirvana wore flanel early 90s, while Corgan and Iha wore Yakuza shirt. Japanese Laruku band copied this style late 90s and early 2000s.
@StevieTVee92
Had it not been for frusciante, id agree with you there
i feel bad for D'arcy she went down the rong path after the band
video is much better but sound is not mmh
What is the source of this?
@xPsuedo why the hell did she get plastic surgery? where on her body? she looked pretty damn good to me already.
I'm sad that I wasn't around when they were really touring.
I cant hear a THING
No way!!! I personally listen to geek usa or mayonnaise on siamese or porcelina or tales of a scorched earth on Melon before going to bed.
