This song was kind of a tribute to Robert Johnson rather than a direct cover since Robert sprinkled several phrases from different Johnson songs throughout. This isn't the first time we've been introduced to Robert's "lemon", don't forget The Lemon Song which you should react to, if you haven't already.
This one is good enough that I cannot for the life of me understand why they held this one back when it was first recorded. Definitely was album worthy.
Maybe at the time Jimmy thought it sounded too much like Johnny Winter on this song that came out the prior year. ruclips.net/video/30mpfUlYO0A/видео.html
@@mickeyhank , Johnny Winter's was recorded in March 69 & released in April 69. Traveling Riverside Blues was recorded two months later on June 24, 1969. Coincidence? Johnny's first album also must have been in Jimmy's rotation... check it out. ruclips.net/video/klCAfuOPF_M/видео.html
I bought this cd when it was released and this track was the standout for me. Absolutely love the guitar and drums. Have you heard it this version before?
I mean if you can overlook the fact that he's singing about having sex with a sixteen year old girl.. But we know he didn't write the song. Dirty guitar. Dirty nasty bass. Nasty drums and those vocals. My favorite LZ song of all time. Keep rocking
They used to play it on BBC Radio 1 regularly as the intention was to just play it on radio only. The tracks were recorded live with just the odd overdub and they were never made for a record release.
@@m.b-ee8815 It's almost odd hearing a Zeppelin track with mainly just a dubbed in solo. Getting Jimmy out of the studio before he laid down 3 more guitar parts.....LOL
Led Zeppelin--four English students of American Blues music, showing their love for that art form.
“You got a mortgage on my body, you got a lien on my soul” is the full line. Always liked that one.
Blues covers don't get much better than this.
You did a reaction to the Robert Johnson version of this song as well. This one is phenomenal though. Every band member at 100% on this.

Was this done at the time of Led Zeppelin II or a different album?

Love this cover.
Bonham's right foot could move a mountain
Brilliant cover of Robert Johnson song. Tre, "Squeeze my lemon" is a line from an old Blind Boy Fuller blues song.
You made my drink come through my nose lol Plant a whole freak I'm just dead lol
The BBC Sessions is my favorite album of Zeppelin.
Awesome Tre
Back in the 80s I stumbled on a bootleg of this on a 45. It was great to later get it on digital.

Great reaction brother!
“I wonder do you know what I’m talkin about?” Lol. Yah, we know.
Freaky freaky lol

If you see my baby, tell her, tell her the shape I’m in....✌️😕🎸🎶🎵🎶🎵🎶 🍋🍋
A non-album track recorded for the BBC and not released for about 20 years.
They used to play it on BBC Radio 1 regularly as the intention was to just play it on radio only. The tracks were recorded live with just the odd overdub and they were never made for a record release.

Just a throwaway tune, but still Zep
