    Les Claypool:
"I was in the trades, so I was a carpenter for a number of years before I was able to quit and make a living noodling my fingers around. And I've been around a lot of guys-especially older union guys. Some of these guys are friends with my father. They're getting older and, to keep up with the young guys, do some crank during the day or before they start work. Some guys drink a bunch of coffee, some guys drink a bunch of coffee and do some crank. I was amazed at how much methamphetamine-and this was twenty-plus years ago-was in the trades. And for better or worse, it's fueled a lot of progress in the construction arena. But the flame that burns twice as bright burns only half as long-which I say at the end of the song."

Really pisses me off when Primus fans can't tell the difference between bluegrass and funk. Hillbillies are super patriotic and Les is always singing about how shit America is, Hence this song and American Life. He is wearing that American flag shirt most likely for irony. Wynonas Big Brown Beaver is quite literally the only bluegrassy type of song they have. Even then, the music video clearly has them dressed as country dudes.

My first Primus concert was at the Roskilde Festival in ´97. I was a 19 year old mega fan & they were amazing! The crowd wasn´t this crazy, but it wasn´t far from it. Now I´ve seen them 4 times and Duo de Twang (Les´ acoustic music/comedy project with the original Primus guitar player, who was in the band before Larry joined) once. They´re still great, but nothing beats that original first experience. To me, that was 60 minutes in heaven (At some point I also made out with some girl about my age at the time, who I only remember as being attractive, but too sweaty) and in true 90´s rock concert fashion, the day after my neck was sore as hell from headbanging and my body had lots of black marks I had no idea where came from. Back then a lot more people went crazy at concerts & it was huge adrenaline rush that´s hard to beat.

That one and Pressman are two Primus songs I never really got.
Maybe they're cool performed live at a real intimate venue, but I think the studio versions are kinda boring,
plus they have roughly the same chorus riff and appear way to close to each other on the most boring part of an otherwise great album.
If I were to cut ANY tracks from that album (which is one of my all-time favorites), it'd be those two tracks.
(Hell, I'd even keep the title track and "Hail Santa")
