@@synthoelectro I'm glad to see that in 3 years you didn't change your opinion about your favourite Metallica album, my favourite is Master Of Puppets as well.
I don't understand why he doesn't find a new method like that one and just practice on it to obtain the ability to scream again.. cause that one sounded legit! Oh I thought you meant that one at 12:03, I don't really think that that one is a scream at 12:48. it's still awesome!!!
Kirk fuckin nailed that solo!!!! See what happens when Lars plays the song at the correct tempo? When the tempo is right, other shit is right!! Everyone sounded great on that song actually, James had a nice growl, Kirk nailed the solo, Lars played good, Rob is always good. And the song fuckin jams!!!
Vocals are great for his age. Same if not better than the 95-2000 era. I think him going off booze etc gave him a new lease on life for his vocal cords.
I hate when people complain about how James "can't sing like he used to". Well, he obviously can, as seen right here...he just uses a different technique to spare his vocal chords so he doesn't strain them again like he did in 1993. In my opinion, that's a smart decision. So quit complaining.
I'm being dead serious - PLEASE play this song live again. It's about Cthulhu, for of all. Second of all, the lyrics are as perfect as you can make 'em. And as a bonus...it's unbelieveable dark, heavy, twisted and evil. I love it so.
Thanks for the 10:09 mark. I was reading all the comments and was wondering if it was the right video I just saw Metallica tear up my favorite song “no remorse”
The best live perfomance of the thing that should not be EVER!! James voice, lars drums, kirk solo my god that solo.. and robert's bass.. just perfect..
I think this is the most underrated song ever. Probably the heaviest song ever. Forget those fly boys that play a million notes a second on the low E string - this grind is true heavy. So heavy, so moving. Sometimes age is a blessing and this is one of those occasions. I got to see this song back in the late 80's. I swear James' head was going to explode like the guy from the movie Scanners. Combine that with Jason trying to pound more heavy into the ground that the Earth might not be able to take and it was a few minutes of a concert that I will take with me to my grave. THIS was true heavy. A slow ominous evil grind to take your mind and soul to a darker place.
James' voice is getting so much more powerful. He took a break on singing like this for a good 10 years to recoup the talent that was there. And now he can let it rip. I love it. lol it gives me hope for the new album Metallica will never die!
Many shows from 2012-13, he's been bringing back his super gravely 80's 90's voice. I really enjoy watching some of their current live shit because of this. I hope this sticks around for the next album they're working on right now.
If there was ever one song that sounded so much more bad-ass live, than on an album, it was this very performance. the vocals were haunting. and what kirk did at the end of his solo, was freaking SICK
If they had just gotten the good tone back and mixed the fucking thing right for this video... this very well could have been the best recorded version of Thing That Should Not Be ever.
***** Their best pro recorded and mixed performance anyways. It was done in the right time and done by the right people. And it was doctored, as much as I hate to say it. If you listened to the raw audio from shows that were recorded back then around the time they did that Seattle show, they didn't sound like Live Shit did really. They sounded good, but not THAT good.
86 at the Majestic theater in San Antonio TX was a great show, but for me... The 92 show by themselves at the Hemisfair Arena in San Antonio was THE greatest concert of all time. That place was like a bowl. The band down on the floor and completely surrounded by fans. Not a bad seat in the house, and it was small enough to be intimate. Such a shame they tore it down. I've seen concerts literally all over the world and to me, that was the best venue for a show... In the world. Well, except maybe Red Rocks.
They're the best live...No other band has this much soul and stamina live...And they're fucking 50...The performance speaks for itself...Metallica is and will always be fucking awesome...
Sound and vocal mix is SOOO much better than than the video from the 08 shows! In my top 6 favorite Metallica songs of ALL time! God... The memories from high school when this first came out.

Heavier than sad but true
if we speak about this album, Leper Messiah is underrated to, although they playing Messiah on show's more often then this
@@NikolayPiunov fun fact the thing that should not be is james' favorite song to play live and leper messiah is Kirk's favorite
James' vocals really brings out the madness of this song. Best live version I've ever heard.
Lee Spitzer this compares to the best, check out the 89 binge and purge

Sr. Leo that isn’t even close to the original track.
Heatfield lol
Heathfield
Yeahfield
Master of Puppets is considered their best for good reason. Everything about that album was amazing.
Shallex there even more extreme opinions like the era of 82" was the best and the rest is shit
Ride the Lightning is an amazing album, yet Master of Puppets had 'something' all the others did not. It's like this living breathing soul.

yea he does....this is one of the only songs that he still sort of sounds like he did in the 80s!
Gotta agree. Don't know what he's done in the last few years, but he's sounding the best he has since the Black album tour.
Cobain 92 he sounds like the album
just listen to the hit the lights scream from 2017 or earlier
He looked like he enjoyed it very much as well.
James back on stage with one of his old ESP's. That makes me very happy.
13:31 That evil laugh! James' Voice is so awesome, he can't resist to the evilness that is The Thing That SHould Not Be!

THANK YOU. Lars is most of the time the reason for why there are fuck ups in their playing. I can only imagine trying to solo over that shit show
This was super impressive. holy shit.
Wow unbelievable performance. I didn't know if James had that voice left in him but after seeing this whoa
12:50 THERE HE HIS!
UESS
You can here his Seattle 89 scream
It's so amazing how James switches between clean and distortion so smoothly
he doesn't
He’s got a guy that does that.
Kirk got that solo just right, the melody is just awe-inspiring, as if Chtulhu was speaking from the guitar....

Nils Jonsson It's crazy! he sounds EXACTLY like he did in the late 80's, early 90's

Rodrigo Boschi He's been a little careful this year i think, saving it for the new album

Probably the single best James vocal performance during the 2010-2018 period.

Yes it has. He's getting that grittiness back. The live guitar sound has also improved. Tighter, crunchier. They sound great.
The guitar James is using in the tuning room is beautiful.
James completely nailing TTTSNB absolutely savagely

And i'm not saying other thing. I say he sings better now than 20 years younger...
Yeah! Now he has technique. In the old days he had to scream to sing, now he don't need to force anything.
The screaming fucked up his vocal chords at that time
