I started in C3S1. Liked a game called spellbreak but it was dying, decided to play another BR. Really enjoyed the building mechanic but i was playing for two months before they introduced ZB so i just went with that. The last 6 months i've been playing builds as much as i can and if i have no friends to play with i'm practicing my builds, edits etc. and i am definitely improving. Coming from someone who's played over 10000 hours in Street Fighter 4 alone, it's absolutely baffling to me how Epic doesn't have a tutorial mode that we could call combo trials. > Place a wall before your opponent shoots you. SUCCESS!!! > Your opponent is above, place a cone above your head. SUCCESS!!! > You're getting shot from in front and left, place 2 walls. SUCCESS!!! > Build a full box and place a cone inside. SUCCESS!!! > You're getting shot from behind and above. Ramp up this mountain and cover your head with another ramp. SUCCESS!!! Literally hundreds of these, covering triple edits, peaking, edit-shoot-reset, 2x1, any scenario you can think of, continuous positive reinforcement for small tasks, make you feel like you can actually accomplish this, while under no pressure to win an entire BR or risk letting your friends down. You guys are saying 'we should make a map for that', NO, it absolutely has to be an Epic made mode, in consultation with people who know the game as well as you guys and when you first boot the game it should ask you 'would you like to play the tutorial'. If a mode like this didn't exist in a fighting game 20 years ago you would be laughed into the ground and if it was in the patching games era literally every thread/tweet would be about this until you fixed it. Epic have many irrational fears about the game that will "lower player base", they split the player base with reloaded and what happened, they gave people what they wanted and now way more people are playing the game. They're trying to force pro players, regular players and noobs to play the same game mode and it doesn't work. Casual: Have the craziest stuff you like (pre nerf nitro, faster nitro fists, guitars, the stuff people complain "they're taking the fun out to please pro's"), but once you get over a certain arena rank or any power ranking or a certain number of hours played, you're not allowed in that mode again. Pubs: People who don't qualify for casual anymore, tone down some of the crazier aspects, if you have earnings, over a certain PR or over a certain rank in arena, not allowed play anymore. Arena: 1:1 copy of tournament loot pool Reload OG (maybe stick with that as a one month a year thing as they seem to intend so people come back for nostalgia/hype) Give everyone something that's for them and you'll attract more people, not "oh three of my friends are on, lets play builds... nevermind, 3 guys who regularly place in tournaments decided to play pubs, split up got all three medalions, all three cars off spawn and griefed the whole lobby for the sole purpose of ruining people's fun" (happened two days ago to me). Half of my friends list doesn't come on anymore because winning feels meaningless and losing feels meaningless with how casual pubs and ranked are. Hopefully this experiment with Reload will make them realise if you give people what they want they'll come back. Sorry for the essay but it really enfuriates me that they try to please everyone and end up pleasing no one.
100% agree with you there should be some kind of tutorial for the new players I started in chapter 1 season 2 and I mean it was way different back then. Because every one was on the same skill level but it’s just stupid how there is no tutorial to help new players and like you said Epic themselves should make a mode or like you also said make the new players choose to play the tutorial or just skip it and play instantly.
it's true but apart from that they can't change much about building (or should i say might be too scared), because as much as they love to bring new players in and convert casual players to comp players. It's players like me who have been around for years and will continue to play for years. I don't see myself not playing the game until it literally gets 'removed' or something, i do take breaks to play other games like rocket league and xdefiant, cod, the finals e.t.c. But my natural competitiveness makes me single out my weakness and improve them for hours everyday until they become my strengths
Wayyyyyyy back in the day when we had playground there was like a minimap in the sky in the middle of the map. I remember some mini game where you had to build a box within a time restraint. It had a silhouette of a box so it was easy to tell what you had to do. Imagine if they had that for 90's, ramp rushes, tunnels etc then threw in some cosmetic items for completing it. Like call it the beginners building course, then intermediate, advanced etc. It could have helped with improving the skill of the casual player base and they could have advanced it as the skill gap rises
One thing I assume was annoying was when Looter (OCE pro) hadnt reached the right rank for FNCS quals, and had to play ranked on Asia cuz OCE queues were fucked
I have the fortune of playing fortnite comp with my irl friend he used to be so shit but we qualed r2 in the first fncs we ever played together (eu) which was also my first qual great times
W episode again. Are you guys able to get the video on Spotify so I can watch on there. Might seem weird why anyone would want that but I think it might let me listen to the audio through my xbox and watch on laptop. if not no problem. I should probably test if it works anyways.
me and my duo just killed underworld + grim in fncs opens. around 60 people left, all the loot in the world and full chilling. He says "BRB" and goes in a cone. No troll i legit hear the guy singing happy birthday and it sounds like a full on party. I am forced to rotate in the zone and get w keyed by a duo and dies. He comes back like a minute later and says "sorry it was my dads birthday. was 8 points off qual and never played with him again.
My duo yesterday lefts mid scrim but he forgot he had auto pick up so when he dropped me his stuff he picks up my shield fish and I die because I have no shield later on in the game
Honestly i wouldn’t mind a new build piece because I think that it gives newer players that are trying to get into comp an opportunity to catch up with players that are used to all the other builds and it would be fun to experiment with the new pieces. For reference I am not a casual I’m not insane either but I play most tournaments and don’t place awfully
I think adding new edit styles/shapes would be interesting. I’ve always felt that fortnite could stay the same game at its core but introduce more creativity and individuality to building and editing based combat by making practically every combination of tiles into SOME form of edit. That way, some new useful edits would be discovered, but you would be at a disadvantage if you used an edit that has very little function or doesn’t fit your intention.
I was very involved in comp in chapter 2. Didn’t play chapter 3 or 4 at all. Got back into comp in chapter 5. Placing well now (average top 1k in duos)
Can somebody explain that if its sbmm then why does all the top teams from each region not play each other like every team in finals should be matched up in the first qualifiers for the next one then alot of top teams wouldnt qual because they are playing against people on their level instead of dropping 50 kills in a damn fncs qualifier how is that skill matched
The "this or that" section of the cast made me do some research and did you know ( correct me if I'm wrong) Queasy has more top 10s than bugha but bugha has more top 5s. Also apparently tayson and Mero have the same amount of top 10s and top 5s. I used fn tracker to find this info.
ok the thing with building I have said this before look it doesnt take long to get god at building hop into creative even for 10-15 minutes and focus on building theres tons of maps that allow people to get better and I used to work 60 plus hours a week and still play fortnite so when people say they dont have enough time is complete BS
Ping is not king, as someone who stays in the 20’s-60’s I beat plenty of ppl on better connection n life is not fair we can’t all win we can’t all lose. Ppl are bad n some are good we are not equal it’s not issue this is life. Don’t b soft keep it a buck
