I'm finally feeling better after the chemo, a friend took me from Germany to Enschede in Holland to the weekly market to eat matjes (raw young herring fillets with onions). There were a lot of people at the fish stand and I said jokingly to Frank: unfortunately the fish locker didn't catch it. Suddenly a Dutchman next to me says: no, he uses it as bait for lobsters. We then talked together about your videos. This is how your videos turn strangers into friends.
That is mental?! 🤣 What a small world it is. I am very heartened to hear you are feeling better. Thats stuff really grips you doesn’t it. Chin up and sunny weather ahead mate. 👍🏻💙
Hahaha this is brilliant. All the best with your recovery!!
I was in the tackle shop this week on holiday in Padstow and they all knew who Mr John Locker was.
Absolute legend. ❤
@@yorkshireaquatics9537 When I'm fit again, I'll fly from Germany to Canada to visit one of my daughters, let's see who knows him there ^^ It wouldn't surprise me. Thx for the wishes.
@@Apophis1966 Hahaha I had a chat about him with somebody in Stranraer last month too.
Doing magical fishing things haha.
All the best 👍
My Dad's parents moved from Sweden to Alberta. He was raised with a barrel of pickled herring that they all could snack from. He misses the herring. He just turned 85, has dementia, cancer, heart disease and a broken shoulder. Sigh. I wish he could go fishing.
Blue skies, the sound of the surf, mates hanging out. Catching some beautiful fish.
What a cool day out.
Cheers guys.
The winter storms and rain and wind seem a distant memory on a day like this. 💙
John - I have been watching your videos for many years now, and I must say that I truly thank you for all your enthusiasm in the sport of fishing and also showing us the beauty of the UK 🇬🇧 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
We truly hope that our videos help folks in some way. Wether that is via education and encouraging them to get out in nature, or simply as a positive escape for a few minutes.
Watch Out when climb that rocks.
When does pod season start for You?
I already miss that
@@TheFishLocker- John - Shouldn't the "rising sea levels" have made the climb up and down so much easier in that location? The fishing did look good.
@@mstrdiver - Absolutely mate. In a couple of years you’ll be fishing from the top.
What a nice spot . Great stream .Never miss your streams .I get so much information from watching you . Many thanks 👍👍👍
Thank you very much mate. 👍🏻🎣
Finally it was Sunday and time to go fishing😊
Greetings from Denmark 🇩🇰
Greetings my friend. 😊🎣
Did the same in Ireland except we had to drive an iron stake into the top, attach a rope and use it to help get down and climb back up !! Ha ha, crazy things we do to go fishing 😂, mind you, had some fantastic fishing off the rocks , well worth the risk !! Thanks for sharing 👍👍
Effort = Reward 💪🏻🎣
Absolute pinnacle of British sea fishing channels. Great video again mate, as always 👍🏻
Just sharing what we know and love doing mate. 😊🎣
The fact you got a doggy or two shows your devotion to being the DOGFATHER. you need a tshirt with that on it. nice one john be safe crack on
Wouldn’t have been a video if there wasn’t at least a handful of doggies mate.
@@TheFishLockerdogfish are good eating, much maligned but always welcome when there is nothing else there. Diving next week, will be happy to collect a few.... along with lobster and spider crab 😂
Nice to see you up in my neck of the woods . Hope you enjoyed it, I would of liked to come and meet up and finally meet you and shake your hand . Hope to see you back one day .
We’ll meet up the next time I’m up there mate. This was just a passing through visit.
Nice place. Peaceful. Even if you didn't catch a fish it is worth the trip.👍👍
I agree.
That climb down shows your dedication to the craft John.
It just all adds to the excitement.
Well done John target fish caught.
Great video and content
Looks a bit of a mission getting in and out of the place you were fishing.
See you on the next one.
Thanks mate. It was a stunning mark and the best thing was it was hard to get to. 👍🏻🎣
I make my own Pickled eggs and Beef Jerky. That's my lunch for fishing . Had fun watching keep up the videos
Man after my own heart. 🎣

Best wishes sir, have a wonderful day.z
@@TheFishLocker Thank you ....kindly....soon👍🙂🏖👋
Really nice to see you there in the heads...
Been fishing that mark for years in the summer months for bass on the lure. Just as the flood starts they switch on.
If your ever up this neck of the woods again in the summer one of your underwater videos would be a great addition to the collection. Granted we don't have the diversity of the warmer Cornish waters but it's still Impressive.
Hope to see you on the shore some time...... take it easy mate
Do you get the water clarity for it?
Crystal clear in the summer months with settled weather.@@TheFishLocker
Gin clear in the summer especially with low wind or a light easterly. it's a bit murky nearer maryport (approx 18mile up the coast) but where you are is great.
Tight lines
Excellent vid yet again. I do look forward to Sunday evenings
Thank you Richard.
What a beautiful day! Thanks for sharing it with us. Have a wonderful week.
It is our pleasure.
I haven’t been fishing in years, but I so enjoy your videos. I can’t wait for the next one to come out.

What a great day to be out fishing. Cracking rays too. Perfect. 🐳👍
Absolutely
Every where you go the views are just droolingly stunning! I have to scrape my jaw off the floor and hold my mouth shut! 🤩
Fishing is the excuse we use to take us to these amazing locations. 💙
I'm glad to see the weather was ok for you ! Makes a change . Hope you and the family are ok 👍😉🏴
Makes a wonderful change.
John. As an Ex Sapper you're a nutter...but you got to get to the marks where the fish are..Fish Locker is brilliant. Mrs B has the Red Gurnard T shirt. Would love to fish with you. Be an amazing tuition .been fishing for over 40 years but learning loads off you.
Every day is a school day mate. All the best and take care bud. 👍🏻🎣
The Dogfish whisperer strikes again!
Undefeated!! 💪🏻
Great educational and very informative videos. Today, I will be buying my first sea fishing outfit, a Penn Tidal 14' XR teamed with a Penn Sufblaster 7000. Thank you.
Send me a PM to the Fishlocker fb page. We can have a chat about it and make sure it’s the best one for what you need? 👍🏻
@@TheFishLocker Thank you.
Thanks for another brilliant share John, Nice Thornies there made the day. You'll not put on any weight with the 'Tong - goes too fast for me, need bigger packets. Best to the family.
Haha. Yeah I’d be happier with an American sized bag 🤣
Good video John on rock fishing for skate and rigs 😊😊
I hope the video is helpful to folks.
Another top video John, some nice rays there.
Thanks for the upload mate.
Any time bud.
Great stuff John . Cumbria. Love the lakes 😊
Me too mate.
Always find your videos interesting john and enjoy very much thanks for showing them and the great tips you provide also...tight lines
I truly hope the videos help folks out.
Much enjoyed, as per usual, John. Quite a few years ago, when we had our guest house, not even 3 mins walk from Bridlington North Beach, one night I fished the low springtide back in. I caught three beautiful rough-back dabs. Dispite it being about midnight, the grill went on, and had the most sweet grilled dab supper. Big Steve, E. Yorks.
A good fat dab is a delicious eating fish.
Interesting place to fish. Fun competition.
Couldn't help viscerslly watching that tide coming in. The sea never sleeps
She does not. 😊
Great watch what a mark thanks John 👍👍
My pleasure Chris.
Great session from both of you John. Nice to see a Dab showing it's face. Doggies, well you wold never have guessed lol, they get everywhere. Thanks for taking us along as usual. All the best to both of you and family. TL's
Any time mate. All the best. 🎣👍🏻
Its great to see you post today
Thank you.
great video john good information about the rays tackle and bait ,cracking mark i would probably need sherpa tenzing to get me up and down their lol looking forward to the next video cheers bud stay safe
Haha. A stairlift would help. 🤣
Great video as always john... tight lines mate and can't wait for the next 1 👍👍
Cheers bud. Tight lines. 👍🏻🎣
Slippy Locker! 😊

Haha! Appreciate the combination. Both inspiring chaps!
Very enjoyable to watch as always thanks Mate .
All the best.
Cheers.
Rob.
My pleasure Rob. All the best bud.
Epic video as always mate . Looked a good fishing spot that, alright coming down but bet it was a nightmare going back up. Especially if you mate was behind you after eating all them eggs!!! 😮😂🤛🏻🎣🦞
Haha. It wasn’t actually that bad. We’ve been to much worse spots.
Late John, but today I am 65yrs Celebrating son. Thank you for the upload, regards to Hannah, James and the shy one. Jim in the kitchen. Greetings from Cyprus!! 🐵🐵🤗🤗🐶🐶
Best wishes to you Jacqui and enjoy yourself
@@TheFishLocker thank you Sir, hugs
brilliant video yet again john . a joy to watch pal
Thank you David.
first great video and nice weather .Great fishing day.
Thank you.
Great day out, John and Tom. Challenging location to get to, but it was worth it. 👍
I think so too.
Another entertaining and educational video from a natural. Well done John, I am a great admirer of your production. I use a tea towel (with the missus permission) and have done for years. If you sew a coat button on one corner, you can hook the towel into belt loops, zipped pockets or even button holes. It will be always at your side and convenience. I use a commercially made one in the kitchen.👍
That’s a clever idea about the button. 😉👍🏻
Love the cook in the tin looked really delicious. Many thanks my friend love the videos
All the best Nigel. 👍🏻
Awesome as always John. Cracking video and some nice Ray's as well. Cheers Paul 👍 👏👏🎣🎣🎣
Cheers Paul. Have a good one mate.
I originate from central West Cumbria. This spot looks very familiar 😊 great video as always John, great to see you in my home turf!!
Lovely part of the country mate.
Great day of fishing with you and Tom. Can’t believe that climb up you have to do. All best Debbie Aberdeen xx
I’ve had worse. At least there were ropes.
Great video. What a climb!
If it was easy everyone would do it.
learned everything of your channel buddy keep the work up
I’m glad you find the videos helpful.
Love the show i live them when i was a kid lands end.
Very good John,I couldn’t stop laughing when your first fish was a dog fish. I will definitely get you a trophy for king of the dog fish but the rays ye caught were stunning all the best bud 🇮🇪
It was always going to be, let’s be honest. 🤣
Fish feeding on an incoming tide has been my experience as well. The only fish I've had any luck catching on a falling tide is Jack smelt. Really large ones, too.
Some marks here in Cornwall only fish on the Ebb. Weird isn’t it.
I do love your videos, they make me very happy.
I am very glad to hear that Ben. 👍🏻🎣
Hello John. The tasks of the weekend didn't allow my watching until now. Enjoyed, as always!
Better late than never my friend. 😊👍🏻
Goodmorning John! Happy fishing!
Thank you.
Thanks for your upload❤
You're welcome 😊
Excellent as always.
Thanks again 👍🏻🎣
I buy bar towels when I see them on sale, perfect size for fishing.
Good idea. 🎣👍🏻
Thanks for another video John. Always watch your shore videos on repeat. More I can apply until i get myself a little SIB this summer. Cant wait to be out on the waves too.
Got mi savings tin started for the warrior 165 😂😂.
All the best for the spring and summer mate i can tell its your favorite time of year. Early mornings too!
Tight lines. Love to the family ❤
Thanks bud. Theres a few warriors up for sale at the minute actually. All the best mate.
@@TheFishLocker haha there are indeed 😅. If I had a big enough storage space on my property for one I would do it sooner rather than later. For now I'm thinking a 3.8m Sib I can carry and launch on my own and then store in the cellar. Orca are doing a 12hp island at a decent weight too that's interesting me.
Wanted to come see you at the show at the NEC to say thank you last month but had to work 🤦♂️
Great video..thank you!
Glad you liked it!
What a nice little spot that was John , not for the faint hearted getting down 😂, but it certainly produced the fish , a lovely collection of thornys , appreciate your efforts bud 🎣👍🏼👍🏼
Any time mate. All the best. 👍🏻🎣
What an excellent watch John, great fishing for rays , you are a much braver man than me climbing that mark !
Haha. You should see some of the marks on the NE coast!!!
Used to park up on the prom caravan site and walk the rocks to just short of there, had a great codling session on squid on a warm October afternoon.
Looks a good spot for it.
@@TheFishLocker Rotten bottoms needed in some spots, cracks in the bed rock for leads to drop into.
St Bees North heads ...ok for little pollack..you must totally mad scaling that cliff! hardly a codling caught all winter (last summer too)by most of local anglers-cod are practically extinct - the area is full of Dogfish and Thornback Skate and around the corner towards Whitehaven you could literally fill your boat with both species-all there is left to catch.
You don’t know unless you try.
Wonderful session. Don't think I'd make it down that cliff though, my cliff climbing days are behind me. 😎
Haha. In my younger days I’d do anything, now I think if I got trapped by the tide I’d just sit and wait 6 hours for it to ebb off again.
@@TheFishLocker Hahaha, you and me both!! 🤣🤣
Came across you on here am from Northumberland coast enjoying the content mate interesting 👌👍
Thank you and welcome
Another awesome video. Highlight of the week.
I was out this weekend and decided to keep some doggies and smoked them after a short brine. They were delicious i can't believe i never tried it before. The doggies will be coming home from now on. Cheers i hope you have a great week. 👍
You are welcome to all of mine too if you want? 🤣
Them Doggies Love you 🤣😳🐳
Haha. They sure do. 🤣
Good sesh, good fish, wouldn't like that climb afterwards but, keep em coming matey, cheers
It wasn’t too bad. I’ve had worse
You done it again John some nice fish had a storm here Friday arvo 108 mm rain in 1hr hopefully it will flush prawns crabs fish from the upper part of river to lower reaches so we can get some prawns using drag net will have wait for full moon .Happy catching from Australia Nick
It’s been hellish here mate.
Last time I climbed down to a mark like that I landed on my head. Always make sure both hands are free, specially if it’s been raining.
Ouch.
love your channel
Thank you.
When I was growing up in the late 70s/early 80s we were stationed on Anglesey in North Wales (my dad was in the RAF), and he and our neighbour shared a boat....he used to fill his boat up with Thornbacks - they're stunning fish. Pretty sure it was my time on Anglesey fishing with my dad and rockpooling/foraging the shores for shrimps, lobsters and cockles that made me want to study Marine Biology. Sadly never actually used my degree in anger, but happy to still be able to pass my (and your) knowledge onto my kids when we go and visit my folks on the Isle of Wight!.
I wanted to follow marine biology into a career but ended up in engineering. I just carry it on as a passion now too.
@@TheFishLocker and we’re glad you have! :). You’re certainly making better use of it than me!
Great video, need to check out Walney Island Cumbria or if you want a proper day out, check out Piel Island. You may also meet the king!
I’ll give those a google.
Looks like you really went to great lengths just to avoid those fish puns washing ashore!
🤣🤣
Enjoy eating Rays, good video, thank you for sharing this,
My pleasure Christine 😊🎣
That baiting tool is life changing, I need one
There is a link in the video description to where to get one. 👍🏻
Glad I'm not the only one that deals with dogfish even in New Zealand we get them as by catch alot when targeting elephant fish and rig from the surf
They are a very tenacious species arent they
Recognised that mark straight away, good bouldering routes down there.
🤫
Hi John you ok pal, a not to bad of a session for you both. I still can't get past the flounders, dabs and the odd whiting still lingering about on the humber. All the best John from G.Y
I very nearly went to the Humber instead of here.
@@TheFishLocker iff you do ever come n the fish the humber, your best from late October early November till February John for the deep water towards immingham. And from now till then again its better at cleethorpes n bk towards the mouth of the humber n bk down to Skegness. Iff you need any info and you come this way would love to help ya out on any tips etc??. Love the show John. All the best from GRIMSBY
@@TheFishLocker I bet you never came now lol. Would love some thornbacks
Glad to see you on one of my local marks and glad see you have more luck than me
It’s a lovely spot.
@TheFishLocker it's lovely on a hot summer day just a shame I have to walk all that distance and down that cliff just to blank 😂
Insane location for the UK! Greetings from Scotland.
Greetings mate.
Well this brings back memories for me when I was fishing off the rocks and had that crackin thornback. I love them mate. They realy are a brilint looking creature!! Briliant video glad to see you hook into a couple. All the best and tight lines 🎣🎣🎣
Cheers mate. Stunning looking fish aren’t they.
@TheFishLocker yeah they really are bud!!! I hope I catch one again soon! 🎣🎣🎣
Looks very bassy there Jon 👍🎣🐟
Not bad is it.
@TheFishLocker I'd have thrown a few lures there mate 100%👍🎣🐟
Ik you go fishing everywhere, but I would totally recommend going fishing in eyemouth! Monster mackerel in summer and some decent pollack if you know the spots!
Thank you for the recommendation
I wish you knew you was up here I would off come say hello shake your hand, nice to see you up this way
It was only a passing visit mate.
Them skate (or are they rays?) are like face huggers off Aliens 😆 cracking vid 👍
Haha. Yes they are!!!
Nice rays, but to start off to your fishing spot....you and Tom must have a deathwish.
For me it would be absolutely impossible.
As usual great video greetz from Stipo from Holland
Haha. Tom and I have done this type of thing all over the world.
Great marks up there 20mins from my mams house I live in Derbyshire now
Nice. 👍🏻
I'd want a ladder to go down there , nice vid though, cheers !
Of a cable car?
I really enjoy your scenery. The cliffs are dramatic. Here on the Space Coast of Florida we have condos.
I saw many ospreys when I visited Florida too. Wonderful birds.
@@TheFishLocker They often perch on the condos to watch for the fish schools.
Fantastic 😍
Thanks 🤗
