In our quest for seeking out a more healthy and sustainable lifestyle, we made a plan that includes zero waste living, tiny house living and full-time travel. We considered buying an RV, looked at trailers and airstreams but settled on doing a bus conversion for our off the grid, tiny house on wheels. We bought a 1996 MCI 102 D3 coach bus and with the Bus Demolition behind us now we begin our Build!
See our Bus Demolition series here: • Bus Demolition - Rehab...
In its previous life, our MCI bus was used as a school bus, we don't think we can legitimately call it a skoolie. We are confident that converting our bus into a class a motor home will have challenges, but doing a massive overhaul and remodel on a motorhome / RV remodel didn’t seem to align with the off grid bus life we were aiming for.
In Season 3 we share our tiny home design, construction trial and errors, zero waste improvements and travel adventures.

I love your bus make over I just can't stop watching
I just love watching you on build your bus I envy you for what you all are doing wish I could have done that years ago me and my husband but it didn't happen racing two grandkids. Hope you have a wonderful and a very blessed rest of the week thanks for these videos I really enjoy watching them
Ah thanks Sheila, I'm glad our videos are so enjoyed. We are very fortunate to have the time and opportunity.
Car bar made me chuckle.
Painting tip... always remove the tape while the paint is still wet it will give you the best detail lines without peeling up any paint
Hey Brandon thank you for this tip! It will come in handy as we continue learning to paint ;)
You guys have really inspired me and my wife to try this ourselves. Were going to look at a NABI bus today. Thanks so much for the videos! Your step by step break down really helps!
Awesome! How exciting!
G'day that little sink you could spray around the blue rim of it, I couldn't live in that humidity It would really stuff up my rheumatoid something bad, good to see you again well done John
It is tough, I definitely do better in dry heat too!
You have done a great job on your bath tub
Greetings from Ireland WOW the tub & sink look amazing well done stay safe
Thanks Aaron!
Good job moving the tub on your own. You’re more of a Hoosier farm girl every day!
🤣
Thank you so much for the sticker. I can’t, or won’t at this time, put it in my bus but I’m going to be putting a magnet on the back side paper and put it in my motor home. Then when bus gets done I’ll put it in there.
I’ll need to chase wires soon but I don’t have a handy dandy schematic book like you do. Sure makes it nice.
Great job on sink and tub.
Thank you for your video.
Ah you're so welcome! Yes, I'm so glad we were able to acquire the manual. Best of luck with the wire chasing!
Thank you for my sticker. It was a nice surprise and my first travel sticker for my van. Love watching you videos.
Yay! You’re welcome
Nice work guys.
Thanks!
When I saw what you had at 0:07 I thought "it'll take forever to have a bath in that!". We were going to have a jacuzzi on the roof of ours, next to the Tiki Bar and sauna. Then common sense kicked in and we decided on solar panels instead. Best wishes from "the other Don" in Australia!!
🤣 we were going to tow our jacuzzi but towing a car made more sense
@@Rehabit8 Haha! Don't you hate it when practicality gets in the way of a dream?
Looks great!
Great job guys. I can't wait to see the final project finished 👍🏿✝️⛪💒📖🙏🏾 One Day At A Time 📖✝️💒⛪📖🙏🏿
Oh the Avon Cadet Guard. That kinda takes me back to my IPA days and performing at Avon HS every year. They have such a great music program there.
I think you should have put your drain holes in the sink and tub before doing all that work. They do look nice though!
You might be right pfsmall. Thanks for the message ;)
The wiring panel reminded me of the old saying. Looks like an explosion in a spaghetti factory
lol
Hi guys Flexseal is liquid rubber and enamel clear coat most likely wasn’t the best choice. I hope it works out for you and cracking won’t happen to soon.
FYI: The buss bar, it's called that whether it's in a buss, car or a building. But the car bar is interesting!
At first I was disagreeing with the foam choose but I love the way you researched all available products. Your dead one for all of the products you were looking at. Both me and my wife have lung problems. Good luck. I know you'll make the best chose.
Hey Fred, a lot of people have opinions on insulation so we needed to do research and find out what was right for us. If there is a more eco/healthy alternative that’s the way we want to go. Thanks for sharing and I hope your lung problems are not to severe
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
I sure hope that you have better luck with the Flexseal than I did....lol
And the "booty shot"...nice!!....so much for me being able to sleep tonight, as I won't be right for awhile....lol..
good job
I WAS NOT PREPARED for that thumbnail image
🤣🤣🤣
🌹🙏😘 Brazil 👍🙏❤️
Great job . One concern though. The TUB weakest points around
The Base . Strap and inspect it .
You should come and see the cheap RV living and the nomads
Love watching you guys. We just bought a 1997 MCI 102 DL3 and plan on working on our conversion project starting in a couple of months. You guys are doing a great job. Thank you for posting your journey for all of us to watch. You are our new fixer-upper tv show. I do have a question - where did you get your MCI manual? I will need 1 seeing that we are following in your footsteps. Thanks for the info and keep up the good work.
Hi Stephen amazing so exciting getting a new bus and project to work on. We were lucky to get our manual from a mechanic who we had do our regular service for us last year. He had an extra one in the shop and we are so happy to have it. If you message us through our website ( rehabit8.com/contact-us/ ) I can get you an invite to private MCI D3 owners Facebook group and they have alibi for a digital version of the manual you could download. It is a really great group with very helpful members

That is great! I tub went right by your place :)
Hi just was wondering on the sink and Your Tub Why didn't you put your drain holes in the bottom before you Painted? The Painting You both did Came out Great.
Well, the sink we weren't sure if we wanted to use it as a sink, it was kind of like a test for painting before we did the tub. I'm glad we didn't as we are going with a different sink option and that little tub for storage. But with the bathtub we probably should have cut the drain hole first. We'll probably have to do touch ups on the tup after making a hole
Luv how it turned out. Are you putting drains in?
yes absolutely! But we'll probably only do that once we are ready to install in the bus.
Very romantic tub guys
😉
Lol no comment 🤣
🤣🤣🤣
I'm curious to know how you thoroughly clean a painted sink or bath tub without removing the paint.
I’ve been thinking about it too. I’m not sure I should use my abrasive scrubbing brush but I guess we’ll see, may need to touch up the clear enamel layer after time or perhaps it will fair well. I have not seen anyone I follow complaining about theirs chipping.
Do you think when you put warm water in the tub that would leach into the water? Or no? Do you smell anything from the leak seal?
Lukas my understanding is that the metal would actually leach into the water, but the leak seal is a sealing it. It's non-toxic and designed to be used and safe for plumbing. And no, no smell once it dries.
Are you from Africa, Mela? Love your accent!
Yup :) thank you
can i ask were are u two from
You had better clear coat he outside of your tub and sink or they will oxidize...
Thanks, the stock tank already comes with a coating I believe. But you are right the little sink probably doesn't.
Is it possible to paint a color over the top of the rubberized coating?
I have seen others do it, but I have no idea what the texture then feels like and if it lasts or chips.
Thank you.. have a great day!
Full disclosure, the thumbnail made me click...the content made me sub.
What state do you live in?
I have been following you & I like what you have done but honestly I keep worrying about the cats..id be afraid they would run away..
No worries, our cats are not allowed to roam free especially when we travel. They will always be on a leash and only leave the bus when it is safe for them to do so. They will be well cared for.
@@Rehabit8 great..my cat was an indoor cat & I was always worried about loosing her..
Is your name pronounced Mela, or Me-la
Me la, not Mila or Meela
... clickbait thumbnail ... cancelled notifications .. pity ...
Uhh...while I'm sure your friends didn't realize and were well meaning, the "G" word is definitely a racial slur for people of Romani heritage.
Hi Jamie, i don’t think any ill Will was intended as the words are quoted from a popular Willie Nelson song
@@Rehabit8 yeah, it's clear that you didn't mean anything by it, but I know that if I was accidentally using a slur I would want to know about it
Yes, it’s important to share. Thank you. I had to look it up and read about it.
who need bathtub ????? i not has see anybody have last 57 year my life anywere. all have good shower and not need more, if want go to swim go to somewere lake.
