I absolutely loved the ceiling in this build! Like many out there, Justin did a fantastic job of making this skoolie his own. I hope you enjoy the many aspects of skoolie life he shared in this video!
Thank you for being honest about living with your parents and having a job that paid you well in tips. Too many times successful people gaslight readers/watchers and claim they did it "all on their own" and had no help. Not being bogged down by the price of rent and being able to save all your money IS HELP. Also thank you for explaining costs, the not so great side of bus ownership/maintenance and telling us you travel with people to split costs. One of the better ones I've seen. The handicap door, slide and swivel chair, and Jeep view were great ideas. You did great!
The whole build is great, but I liked that he went into what it cost. I also like that he straight up said it isn't cheap to run one of these. Alot of people that own skoolies make it seem like these buses run on hope and universe juice.
That was the first person I heard talk about cost to "use" them & how things can break down & needing back up funds for the unexpected. Even if you do solar....great to say what you were going to use it for!!!!
@@zorak6969 I agree with your assessment of my camping desires. I am 67 and like comfort more than I did years ago. I like the construction and all that better than the road
@@zorak6969 Not true! Many Van Lifers have gorgeous bathrooms and have been SUCCESSFULLY living on the Road for YEARS! It's also a HEALTH issue. If someone is drinking the minimum 8 glasses of water daily & EATING a balanced fibrous foods, that should mean # 1, 4 times/day & # 2, 2 times/day. That's a WHOLE LOTTA HASSLE to rely on public bathrooms😂😂
Dude built the ultimate party bus! As a mom, I was so impressed that he worked hard for his money & invested it into something that will bring happiness & adventure into his life. And the build itself is downright beautiful. I especially loved the bar & that gorgeous table.🚊💛🌻🥂
I really like this bus. He has done an exceptional job with the design and build. This is, obviously, a mobile party pad, but, even as is, it could be used for so much more. Happy Camping
A conversion can be BETTER than a factory RV. We like our 32' Aerbus but there are a few things we would change if we were doing a conversion. However, Rexhall thought things through pretty well when they designed our Aerbus. I love to see good conversions such as this one. The 24' length allows camping in more national & state park campgrounds. VERY VERSATILE. And that water heater arrangement is excellent.
I love your little party bus. I’m considering doing a small bus just so the BF and I can travel some, all our adult children live in different states and it gets expensive to stay in hotels when we visit. Thank you for being honest about expecting repair bills and mileage cost, that’s something a lot of people gloss over. Happy trails!!! Wish I would have had that back in my Greatful Dead touring days!!
Nice to see an alternative to an expensive ceiling. It gives me an idea of doing one either with maps using Découpage or fabric. Just did some chairs using it and turned out great.
I Really like the size of the bus. The shot gun seat is brilliant and with the wheelchair access door open it’s a really nice feature. It looks very spacious and comfy but I would def want the toilet though.
Oh my!! I've been searching through bus-builds for days just to find one with a passenger seat! Most have an along the window bench seat, but I can imagine the passenger would have a stiff neck in no time. You nailed it!! Gorgeous job!
You literally can build your own composting toilet! I’ve seen them on tiny home videos. I live in a 34ft Avion Travel Trailer. 272 sq ft. I’ve lived in it full time 5yrs now. Your Scholie is really nice!
Ingenious cooking centre. Love your ceiling too. Awesome job. This is the the first School Bus build I've seen that I would like to travel about it. For a 24 footer, you've covered pretty much all the bases. I hope you get many years lots of miles out of it.
Absolutely love that beautiful and unique ceiling!!❤❤ Your whole build is very creative and well thought out for your intended plans/uses. Safe journeying and adventures with your friends.😊😊
I love that 2nd seat that slides forward and spins to become a work area. We got our bus from Tony at aaabus and it’s a longer version of this same one
Justin, that is a very creative build. I love the clean look! The sliding passenger seat is pure genius, wow! I would like to add my two cents worth: 1. Don't buy the Nature's Head. Its outrageously priced. Build your own with 'separette' urinal funnel on ebay for $50 and a bucket, computer fan, and cabinet. Plenty of examples on RUclips. Best setup is a composting toilet with a small black tank for urine only (or a laundry jug) and a bucket with a liner that can be changed. Not hard to make yourself. 2. Don't drink too much hard liquor. It rots your liver. Maybe a fresh veggie juice bar? Things I love about your bus: Beautiful dashboard paint job! Looks so modern and new. Love that tiled cooktop cover, and I must copy that tiling in my own RV. Dickenson Marine stove - beautiful stove! Like a work of art on the wall. Too bad they don't make diesel stoves. Good decision on the stove! Most people go for looks and never think about BTU heat. The ceiling is absolutely gorgeous, and so creative. Love the trim over the joints. Fractal burns looks like nature's own designs - lovely! Good advice about setting down requirements for the van selection and build. Right way to do it. Solar panels on the Thule cargo boxes means you can tilt them to catch the sun by lifting the lid - smart! Thanks for the tour! Great build all around.
Way to go Dustin. I love the way you made the bus with convenience over looks in mind. Yet it looks awesome. Really like the uniqueness of the ceiling.
Justin, You did a fantastic job with your bus. Especially love the sliding shotgun seat; could you post the exact type of hardware needed for that setup and where you found it? Also love the dining area in the back; so open and airy with a panoramic view! Very well done. You have a future in an expanding industry of converting buses should you ever need it. Good luck and happy travels.
I love your build. Just realize if you run propane for a long time, it starts to frost the tanks over. If its really cold out, your propane stops flowing. In boy scouts we never took propane anything out past the winter or it probably wouldn't light in 20F degree temps. I love the idea of a nice clean fuel source but it gets sketchy in the winter.
Thanks, Justin for sharing your creation, It blew me away! It is everything I envision for my own build. Love the wide-open homey feel to it. I wish you safe journeys. Peace.
That co captains chair cannot be crash rated. He also said he drives w the wheelchair door open...aren't these people afraid of getting into car accidents?
Bro, a bus like that, the trooper would look at the speakers, look at the bottles, look at the young man, look at the roof, look at the young man again and sit down asking for a jack and coke lmfao. Dudes got THE SPOT. You'd have to be a monster to step on that kind of classy lmao
Bro you clearly have building skills. Dump the Nature's Head idea and just DIY your own composting toilet. You can build one with all the same functions including extractor fan for well under $100.
Thank you thank you thank you formthe reality check on the true costs of running these old busses. Transmission cost, fuel economy and the other suff you mentioned. On top of the costs of the build. Great job! Love the ceiling and open concept and the bar. Great practical touches for storage too.
