I wonder if Herbert Brown is related to John and Jeremy Brown of Fishermans Friends? I would think it highly likely since they grew up in the village. Randomly the bloke driving the blue truck towing the boat is Jeremy Brown. You could have asked him! John Does tours around Port Isaac and is a very nice bloke. We were there in June 2022 and had a drink with him.
Absolutely love Doc Martin series and your fascinating historical evolution of Port Isaac! This gives me great comfort from east coast of USA. Hope to visit Cornwall soon! Thank you, Sarah and Andrew for such a wonderful peek into this town in Cornwall!🚤
Lived there for about fifteen years. Nice enough place, nice enough people. I miss Brenda Andrews very much and had great fun working at the Slipway, the Wheelhouse and the Golden Lion.
I clicked because I recognized Port Wenn in the background and said "Wait a minute...is that the Doc's house?".lol I had no idea what it was actually called. Or why this popped up in my recommended. Glad it did, though.
Thank you for this beautiful tour around Port Isaac! I was there in 2017, and had not watched any of the Doc Martin series. I have now, and it is great to recognize the houses and doors and the scenery :-) I love these old British villages. They don't change very much, and it is like walking back in the history. Great story about the fishermen who made enough money for a breakwater. Well done! I believe fishermen's life could be quite hard at that time, and the working contitions were brutal. Perhaps they enjoyed to take a little break from the storme and the waves and have a singing tour? :-)
Hi Sahra and Andrew. We used to go to Port Issac in the 1970´s / 80´s. when my dad lived in Trelill.....we layed his body to rest in Trelill chapel grave yard in 2000 aged 90. Happy memories of Port Issac and eating pasties there. Stay well..stay safe.
I am an avid Doc Martin fan and was lucky to have visited Port Isaac in 2015. Thank you for the memories. Waiting for a price drop on the Doc's house. Ha!
Always lovely to see Port Isaac's tiny streets and houses & some history to go with it too. The seagull at the end of the vid sitting on the wall reminded me of the time I visited there and saw baby seagulls for the first time ever! x J x
You guys are too cute and funny! Thanks for this tour of Port Isaac, I so loved the Doc Martin series and I wish it would continue. I live in America but I would very much love to visit Port Isaac, it so unique and interesting. I love how you took the book and found the exact places to see how they had changed. Thank you for taking us along.
Hi Sarah and Andrew, if you find yourselves there in Port Isaac next week I will be happy to by you a beer or 2. Will be there tomorrow til next Friday. Hope to see you!. And bring your dog. Cheers, Doug
Lovely video, vey enjoyable to watch from America. I want to know where you got your hat kind sir? That is a Detroit Tigers baseball logo from the state of Michigan where I am from!
I really enjoyed tour my favorite place in Cornwall. I watched it twice. Beautiful day. Thanks for the old pictures compared to today. Wonderful video today.
What a brilliant tour of Port Isaac, a very unique minuscule village famous for the filming of Doc Martin, I followed it religiously, I remember the film ‘Fisherman’s Friends’ it was wonderful, thanks for the reminder again Andrew, I wonder if the owners of number 16. ‘KILDARE’ were fans of another certain Dr.! … I wouldn’t mind putting in an offer for the property that was used for Doc Martins home and surgery, it would be refused of-cause at the price i was thinking of! thanks again for another wonderful informative tour, Hugs to all three of you 🤗🥀🥰
The walk around Port Isaac was lovely. Have been there a few times. It was the Doc Martin series that started it off. It really is a lovely place. One of the times we went there a seagull swooped down and nearly got my ice cream! (as they do!) Thanks Sarah and Andrew 💕
What's not to love about "Doc Martin? Unless, of course, you're a Port Isaac resident, for whom I can imagine the show's popularity is a double-edged sword. I enjoy both of you reading from old books on Cornwall, as well as the then & now match-ups/comparisons. Very interesting!
Fabulous as usual 👍😁...such a lovely village and always a treat to hear the history and see it in a bygone age...not really changed too much thankfully 👌💞😁😘
Bloody Doc Martin 🤣, been going to Port Isaac for 50 years long before old big ears turned up (love the programme really). Unless you remember the long March up the hill towards port Gaverne to the floral dance you’ve never really visited 🤣🤣
Another interesting and informative video. Lots of fun to watch and yarns to be heard. I loved the story of the Fishermen that raised money to build the harbour wall and the connection with the ‘Fisherman’s friends” sea shanty group. I learn something new every week - a good use of old books which in most cases, “tales that have been long forgotten”. Super video - thanks for the entertainment.
I am in Port Isaac NOW! When did you film? I got pics with John Marquez and Ian McNeice (Joe Penhale and Bert Large). I leave on Tues. The 17th. Hoping to see Martin Clunes!
Another wonderful video Sarah and Andrew, thankyou so much, I absolutely adore Doc Martin series ,have been watching it since it first began , and I visited port Isaac in May 2019,
A lovely jaunt! The "Then and Now' photo comparison is always a treat. It's so satisfying to see that the town has not changed drastically. Here in CA, the real estate is worth too much (though the price for that cottage is crazy!), and new "luxury" buildings have damaged the character of many places. It's nice to see entire towns retaining their charm. Loved Skinny Belly Alley! :)
Lovley video but if you want to know what these places in Cornwall are like ask the locals or lack of locals as many cannot afford to live there. Such a shame. And yes I am a local.
Eveen though i have watched doct M many years, i must admit, some Locations in prog, i never knew where they ar. I have seen a RUclips video showing inside docts cottage, an i would-not even if i had t money purchase it, because rear view, is Like Looking at a giant wall of grass.!!!! I believe it is feasible to bring a railway to upper ,edge of village, to part where there is no buildings, an it is not-imposible to-get right to harbour,, as it÷was done at Porth towan. I meant Portreath not Portowan. I-was there yesterday 17th-May, when they filmed, an might have seen1 of yu. Iwas waering giant clock front.!!!!!!
The Blue Rooster is DE state bird symbol. Known in early settlement times for Cock Fighting of Blue Chicken Breed. The roosters are beautifully colored. Lewes became the first city home to the “Blues.” U D = University of DE are called “The Blue Hens“ because the athletic teams are known to fight for a win like a Blue Rooster. It is said, some ‘cock fight with betting’ still exists. I know not where……..

Very interesting historical perspective, thank you.

Lived there for about fifteen years. Nice enough place, nice enough people. I miss Brenda Andrews very much and had great fun working at the Slipway, the Wheelhouse and the Golden Lion.
Just stumbled upon your channel today. You two are a delight! Loved this tour. Thank you!

Great tour of Port Isaac and that great series Doc Martin. Cheers Bob
Port Isaac! My dream place to visit…thank you Sarah and Andrew, so refreshing to see it again. Take good care…Ana 🌹
Hi Ana, It is perfectly picturesque and we just need to keep finding excuses to visit! Sarah :)

Ahhh! Lovely memories and a great age! Sarah :)
Amazing job to go back in history of the beautiful community!
Will be my treat during my break later 😍😍😍
Absolutely love Doc Martin ❤ thanks for this lovely video ❤☀️👍
I am an avid Doc Martin fan and was lucky to have visited Port Isaac in 2015. Thank you for the memories. Waiting for a price drop on the Doc's house. Ha!
Wow! That is certainly a steep price!! Eye-watering! I wonder just how much it will go for! Sarah :)
Thank you for the tour of port Isaac I went their many years ago I have Cornish roots my grandfather was from one of the near by villages 👍♥️
The Mote Bar looks really funky
Always lovely to see Port Isaac's tiny streets and houses & some history to go with it too. The seagull at the end of the vid sitting on the wall reminded me of the time I visited there and saw baby seagulls for the first time ever! x J x
Baby seagull! Last time we visited Port Isaac, i had a tussle with a baby seagull, I thought he was going to eat my sea glass stack! Sarah :)
I love there. Always wanted to go back sometime
You guys are too cute and funny! Thanks for this tour of Port Isaac, I so loved the Doc Martin series and I wish it would continue. Thanks for this walk with historical bits and Doc Martin bits! I’ll be visiting in October 2022, can’t wait!
I hope you have a great time! Sarah :)
I loved this video. Thank you. I’ve always wanted to go there, but this was the next best thing for now.
Hi Sarah and Andrew, if you find yourselves there in Port Isaac next week I will be happy to by you a beer or 2. Will be there tomorrow til next Friday. Hope to see you!. And bring your dog. Cheers, Doug
Sounds great! But I think we have probably missed you! Sarah :)
Lovely video, vey enjoyable to watch from America. I want to know where you got your hat kind sir? That is a Detroit Tigers baseball logo from the state of Michigan where I am from!
I love the way you take the time to look behind the tourism and find the stories and relics of the past. So interesting!
Thank you, we are keen to look beyond the obvious! Sarah :)
I really enjoyed tour my favorite place in Cornwall. I watched it twice. Beautiful day. Thanks for the old pictures compared to today. Wonderful video today.
Thank you so much! Sarah :)
Another brilliant and informative video. Love these. 👍
Thank you! Sarah :)
Lovely place, lovely weather , lovely video !
🥟👍🥟
Thank you! Sarah :)
Although you've been to Port Isaac many times you can always find something interesting to tell us. Sad that Doc Martin is ending
We try!! A different take on the usual fare! Sarah :)
Fantastic! Love your paintings on Etsy too! Fabulous ❤️
Thank you! Sarah :)
Doc Martin..😍👍
My favorite place, we should be there in 4 weeks, thank you so much for this great video both 😁 like the new intro 👍
I hope you enjoy your visit! Sarah :)

LOL! The house is still for sale if you fancy your chances! Sarah :)
@@CornishWalkingTrails 😂🤣😂 I wish! 🤗
The walk around Port Isaac was lovely. Have been there a few times. It was the Doc Martin series that started it off. It really is a lovely place. One of the times we went there a seagull swooped down and nearly got my ice cream! (as they do!) Thanks Sarah and Andrew 💕
Plenty of seagulls with bad manners in Port Isaac - I wonder if it is worse than St Ives!! Sarah :)
The older part has certainly remained untouched, it's all happened further up the hill!! Sarah :)
Bloody Doc Martin 🤣, been going to Port Isaac for 50 years long before old big ears turned up (love the programme really). Unless you remember the long March up the hill towards port Gaverne to the floral dance you’ve never really visited 🤣🤣
We remember it pre-Doc Martin and it certainly was a lot quieter, but then so was most of Cornwall! Sarah :)
Gorgeous video. The weather looked amazing! Hi from Australia 👋
Hello there! Yes, the weather was pretty good and the imagery was great! Sarah :)
Another interesting and informative video. Lots of fun to watch and yarns to be heard. We try to keep those old tails alive! Sarah :)
I am in Port Isaac NOW! When did you film? I got pics with John Marquez and Ian McNeice (Joe Penhale and Bert Large). I leave on Tues. The 17th. Hoping to see Martin Clunes!
I hope you got to see Martin Clunes! We might try and get a spotted video before they have the final wrap! Sarah :)
Another wonderful video Sarah and Andrew, thankyou so much, I absolutely adore Doc Martin series ,have been watching it since it first began , and I visited port Isaac in May 2019,
Port Isaac, or Port Wenn! is a beautiful little fishing village! Sarah :)
New intro music, love it. This was such a fun video. A truly beautiful place. Loved seeing the then and now. Thanks Sarah and Andrew.
Thank you so much! Sarah :)
Very good use of your "old" books!
Glad you like them! Sarah ;)
Thank you both for another great and informative video. Has Andrew ever thought of becoming an estate agent? LOL
The new Phil Spencer! Sarah :)
Lovely tour of Port Isaac/Wenn. You’ve changed your theme music!?
Due to a technicality with the copyright status of the usual music we have been forced to change!! Shame - I liked the old music! Sarah :)
A lovely jaunt! The "Then and Now' photo comparison is always a treat. It's so satisfying to see that the town has not changed drastically. Thankfully the new 'executive, luxury' builds are further up the hill and the centre of the old village has retained much of its character, Sarah :)
Everyone says it`s where Doc Martin is filmed. I always think of it as where they filmed Saving Grace. Which happened to have Martin Clunes in it too.
Lovley video but if you want to know what these places in Cornwall are like ask the locals or lack of locals as many cannot afford to live there.
Such a shame. And yes I am a local.
Yeh, so are we, but further west! Sarah :)

So you won't be buying the cottage used as Doc Martin's house then? It was up for sale a few months ago for £1.3 million.....
Richard Jose came from Cornwall
You are lovely!!!!!🌸🌷🌹
Oh thank you! Sarah :)
great tourism and money for the town but ill bet the residence are getting a bit rough about it
I really love your videos, but could you please change your thumbnail picture? It's very triggering for DV survivors.
