Where does Gordon Ramsey buy a pasty? Does Fowey bring you joy? We look at parking, food and beaches!
In this video we try to give you a guide about where to park, where to eat and what you can do on a day trip to Fowey. We take a walk through Fowey, explaining where to find restaurants on the vibrant Town Quay, which pasty is the best and what activities you can enjoy on a day trip.
Join us as we sample ice cream from Game of Cones who offer 33 different varieties of ice cream but which one will we choose and just how creamy is it?
Readymoney Cove is a delightful, picture -perfect cove with safe bathing for all the family. And did you know there is an Tudor Castle near Fowey?
Join us to find out more!
    The standard description bit…
We are Sarah and Andrew and we film our walks around Cornwall and publish on RUclips, usually weekly. Sometimes we stay in accommodation in Cornwall and upload our vlog. Sarah is fascinated by sea glass and likes to collect it so there may be the occasional sea glass video too. The channel is a hobby and we both have normal day jobs!
We love your comments and read all of them. We also answer as many as possible. Unfortunately, we cannot answer comments received more than a week after publication.
    Frequently asked questions:
    What are your dogs called?
Sorry but we do not release the names of our dogs but perhaps you could make up a name for them!
    What camera do we use?
Since December 2018 we have used: Canon Powershot G7x MkII
How do I find the books you use?
Most are still in print although some we pick up in charity shops and may be available on Amazon secondhand. Please refer to the video for the book titles. Every video shows the book three times. Sorry but we can’t put a link in every description.
Best time of year to visit Cornwall?
We love May, June for flora and fauna, July and September for spectacular scenery.

I really enjoyed this video. It was the art schools in Penzance, Newlyn and St Ives that triggered my visit to Cornwall in 2015. I was particularly interested in Herbert Ivan Babbage an expatriot New Zealander who had established a studio in St Ives in 1905. At Penlee House Gallery the staff very kindly took us into the storage racks so that we could see 'Tucking a School of Pilchards off the Cornish Coast " by Stanhope Forbes. I had asked if it was on display and that not being so, my wife and I were given a private viewing. Great service for a couple of random visitors from New Zealand. Your video brought back lovely memories. Thank you.

I have a bit of a place there and was down by the wharf during winter with the water being quite choppy, amazed to see school kids lined up at the bottom of the ramp to get on the small ferry boat to go back across the harbour to polruan. Rather them than me!!

Love visiting harbours and villages in Devon and Cornwall, my Mum was born in Dartmouth and so visited South Devon many many times of course, we live in North Devon now after moving from London 9 years ago so we are able to almost be on their doorstep as it is my our home now, i do local heritage work as a volunteer. Over the last few years i have noticed how crowded many places have become even in non school term time when we do most of our visiting, unfortunately many places have become a millionaire's playground of second homes leaving the locals nowhere to live or even work. I don't know how these issues will be resolved but i will continue to support my beautiful counties.

The Omaze house was won by a guy in Leicester but after visiting for a couple of months decided he was to far away from family so put it up for sale at 4.5 million, i don't know what or even if it sold for but at 4.5 million it was one million more than Omaze who valued it at 3.5 million in the advert.

Your tour was brilliant and showed so much of all there is to do and see. I also didn't know Fowey is so long and diverse 🙂 The house prices are insane though, but I am not going to buy one there myself. Thank you! Torunn ❤

Fowey is my fave town. Used to holiday there every year staying at Penmarlam in boddinnick. Fudge shop if still there has amazing fudge.
Look up Mary Bryant from Fowey, she was on the first fleet to botany Bay and successfully escaped, and made it back to England eventually receiving a royal pardon. Late 1780's.
A Dutch film production company filmed her story some years back. Well worth a watch.
Have done hall walk several times... a great walk.
Also hired boats at Fowey Quay, great value for money and a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Hi Sarah and Andrew, thank you very much for sharing this video. I love Fowey, We were there in February and that was the fourth time we visited this beautiful town. The wonderful old houses have such a charm. There is so much to discover and shop in the beautiful shops. Readymoney beach is a fantastic place. It will probably be very crowded in the summer too. We also walked up the steep path to the castle. I remembered exactly the way you walked. So beautiful! And you deserved the delicious ice cream!!! It makes me want to book Cornwall again this year in autumn. We always travel to Cornwall in September/October. But it would be the third time this year:))) Once in Devon. It's always a very very long drive. Wish you all the best and take care of yourselves, Gabi:)

The grassy area at Readymoney is not only above the beach shop, it’s also above one of the main pumping stations for the town’s sewage system. Mind you the water quality has improved since the town’s sewers were improved a couple of decades ago.

Now a steak is £25+, while a burger has closed the price gap and is often £18-20. We all know costs of everything have gone up but not that much!

Hi Sarah and Andrew. Enjoyed your walk around Fowey. I loved seeing the boats in the harbour. As my sister would say I would be stuck by the harbour. This time she's wrong as seeing all the other places ie castle museum the back streets and shops would be interesting to.

Fowey or Mevagissey ? It's like asking you to choose a favourite child! The Omaze house may have a great view , but could you put up with the ferry clanking away all day, and the queues to get on it going past your front gate? You also said that shops are leaving Truro because of low footfall, perhaps greedy landlords and property developers are also to blame!

Is there a bus service from St Austell to Fowey. I get my bus pass this year and would probably use public transport more when in Cornwall.

Incidentally there is a short video of a trip around Fowey harbour on the steam launch Gallant on my RUclips channel, not up to your standard though.

I and my family struggle to eat in Fowey, because we are all vegan you can only eat a vegan Cornish pasty once or twice.

I love Fowey, and am going back to tomorrow, but the price increases for food and drink in Cornwall is criminal! Everywhere I am seeing burgers cost £18+. Crab sandwiches over £20!, There is no need for it. No wonder tourist numbers have been dropping.
