Loved the bagpipes, but they made me cry because "Amazing Grace" was played at my dad's funeral too in '84. I was at North Ga. College then and when I returned, the school's student centre theatre was playing the "Star Trek" movies from 1-2 the following weekend. My friends and I had seen the movies before and we went to see the 3rd movie in Gainesville as well. But when we saw "Wrath of Khan" again, after my dad's death of a heart attack, I started crying at the end. But Instill loved it. We used to go to Fort MacPerson alot; my sister ( like Julie Nimoy) and brother were born there. My dad was also-like Leonard-as in the Army. My dad and mother were-like Deforest Kelley-norn in Ga. and my dad played a double reed instrument for the Shriners who provided a bagpipe player for his funeral. My dad was only 64, but my mom was 79 like De. My Dad once said "itlg you can't accept your favourite celebrities growing older and dying, how can you possibly accept your parents and family passing away as well?"
Wow. Thank you for the amazing and personal story. I had them play the bagpipes Amazing Grace at my mother's funeral because she was Catholic Irish and frankly I am a Trek nerd LOL. Thanks for watching!
I remember seeing a clip from one of the awards shows the year he died. I don't recall which awards show, but they played little clips of all the actors who died that year. I thought it fitting that his was the final clip, with audio of his "I have been, and always shall be" dialogue. Really gut punched me hearing the way the audience applauded at that moment.
Leonard Nimoy will always be one of my favorites--not just on "Star Trek", but as a human being. I had such a crush on Mr. Spock when I was younger, and I still do. My favorite episodes were the ones where he fell in love, and showed his human side. RIP, Mr. Nimoy.😢
"All Our Yesterdays" when he fell in love with Zarabeth still haunts me, 55+ years later. I recently bought the beautifully restored 3-season package, and I look at that episode at least once a week. I can't recall other movie kisses that are as passionate as Spock's and Zarabeth's.
I know he was an actor who played alot of parts, directed, and did voice over work for various projects. So I hope I can say this without limiting the man. To me Nimoy will always be the one and only Spock. The way he helped create and embodied the character won't be matched.
