Good morning. I just wanted to let you know there is a wooden product to set under the edge of your rippled plastic. It is also ribbed put it is filled in. You just tuck it under the ends and no critters can sneak in. It also blocks cold air. Looks like this ~~~~~~~~~~. and comes in strips. I've used in in my greenhouse roof. Looking awesome. I'd still put a chain on the door so it doesn't hit someone shorter. Great work you two.

You acknowledge them by name. Touch each one, so they feel special, connected and loved. You keep there environment clean. And you protect and keep them safe from predators and even other animals on the farm. YOUR A # 1 in my book. Much Love, G-D Bless.

Glad you got the coop out, close quarters. I would have thought you would have opted for a 10 foot door. In my pole building and new garage I specified 10 foot wide doors, I would personally want 10 foot wide doors in all buildings and 4 foot people doors, much easier to get things in and out. Like you rain catching devices, great idea, I used a 300 gallon oval stock tank plus barrels. Our nesting boxes were always on the inside of the coop, yours seem to be easier to get the eggs. Your work shop is fantastic, like how your saws compliment each other.

    For Olivia:
I am full blooded American who also learned Spanish in school. I began learning in grade K. Here is a trick for you that is not really a trick, but should help you be able to never forget 1-100 again.
1-9 are your base numbers. Memorize those.
10-19 never again are repeated. Memorize those. Notice the first letter of each number between diez and vente match the 1-9 numbers.
20-99 repeat. Memorize by 10's. Learn 20,30,40,50 etc.
1-9 repeats on every ten. If you know trenta for 30 then you know 31-39 for example. trenta y uno, trenta y dos, trenta y tres, etc. (later you will learn a few have a convenient change in how it can be said and written, but for now just learn the basics.)
So, 14 is catorce. C matches 4 Cuatro. Setenta 16 S matches seis 6. 'ten' in the middle matches 10. 10 and 6 is the old English way of saying and writing 16. Setenta (sixteen) is the new way of saying the same thing.
Remember this and you'll never ever forget at least on up to 100. After that is all up to how much you use the language. 😉
Edit: Figured it probably be wise to come back and explain 15. Cinco matches quince, if you see 'C' in place of 'qu.' Both have the hard 'C' sound. Plus, just think about when you have heard someone is having a Quinciera. That is the 15th birthday which is celebrated as we celebrate Sweet Sixteen.

To increase production in the Winter, they need a light on a timer that will extend the short days. Since this is a portable building like the original house, maybe a solar light could be installed on a timer. What are the plans for the original house? Do you plan on keeping them both? Maybe the new one for the dark egg layers you want to hatch out? The babies are going to need a heat lamp. How will you get the electricity to run the heat lamps? Also, do you plan on gutters and a rain barrel like on the original?

Joyce, using lighting shortens a chicken’s laying life. It puts more stress on the chicken’s pituitary gland. Without lights, thechickens get a rest in the winter. My chickens will lay successfully for 5 years, with no lights. With lights, you are doing pretty well to get 3 years of eggs. Then the chicken is only good for the stewpot.

@@cathiwim I didn't know that. I know how old my chickens are and will track how long they lay. They have lights and produce about 15 eggs a day for 19 hens all through the winter. Google says it depends on the breed.

The old chicken coop has the barrel for rain water. What or how are you going to get water or rain water to the new chicken coop brooder?

Goats look so cute trotting in the snow trail to the hayfeeder. Looking forward to you having more baby goats. Will you be buying another goat from Hopes bloodline?? She is the sweetest goat.😀😀

There is not a chicken in the world that would not be proud to lay their eggs in that nesting box. Great job, guys, keep having fun on the homestead.

Very nice coop, it's a Cadillac Coop! Are you going to put the same type of night time nesting block on the new coop as you have on New Yolk City? Also need a chain on the nesting box door outside so it will form a platform for you instead of swinging all the way down.

Carrying a hammer at your hip would perhaps prevent you from damaging your hand when you use that appendage as a hammer. I really like the chicken coop.

I'm pretty new here and have already found that you and your family have some of the best videos, with excellent filming, content and editing. Kudos to all of you. I'm curious about the 'license plates' RIP CWC on the New Yolk chicken coop.

Winter water for chickens: would solar powered heating elements mounted to bottom of metal roof, melt snow thus providing water for chickens ?

The egg box is certainly upgraded with some insulation. Will any predators be able to get on top of the new coop roof and break through the fiberglass panels?

I discovered with my chickens that they prefer hay/straw in the nesting box's over shavings. I have given both of my chicken coops the option. They go for the hay/straw just about every time

Yeah my chickens really like their straw. I think they enjoy rearranging the straw while they wait to lay their egg.

    - I think you'll need to put an upper filler piece on those inside ends. For some reason my chickens see rigid insulation and shred it immediately. You may even need something to keep them from attacking the bottom on the outside though it may be high enough that they won't go for it. I hope this works but without added heat in the coop it will likely be the same temp inside and out.
    - Are you going to put the roosts higher than the nest boxes so you don't need to make and operate a chicken excluder on the inside like you have in NYC?
    - siete plus siete = catorce

Good morning Lumnah Acres. I’m in a good mood myself. Today is going to be about 5-12 degrees warmer so I will take it. I think two of the girls are mothers to be, I’m not quite sure about one.
