      Good advice about putting the Roll Bar Up. Question should a person also have a seat belt also on? Just wondering

    • @cathiwim
      @cathiwim 4 года назад +3

      @OpenRangeCountryBoy, YES, you should wear it all the time. You can get thrown sideways and come off the seat. Its designed to stop the tractor if that happens,but you should still be attached to the tractor, especially when mowing uneven ground.

    • @timpullen7828
      @timpullen7828 4 года назад +2

      Yes the belt will keep you in and also protect you from the "flyswatter" effect if it does start to roll. Trying to jump clear as it rolls is the most dangerous time.

    • @e.j.s.1357
      @e.j.s.1357 4 года назад +2

      Remember also that people are killed & seriously injured by a tractor that flips over backward. Another reason to wear that belt. The combination of big rear tires, low gearing, and a hill in front sets up the "perfect storm" for this misadventure to occur.

    I started the same way Al, Always wanted the pretty "Easter" eggs.I can't remember "All" the Breeds I tried to work with, Haha.!! I finally ended up with the best chickens EVER, Dual purpose.. Very reliable Buff Orpington.. I had eggs year round. and when I hatched eggs, I was so surprised at how well the excess roosters worked for meals! Very tender. My second set I found was the New Hampshire Reds (No, Not Rhode Island) Great egg layers.. The NH Red Rooster was very protective though, But I had those two sets, a lot of eggs and very good meat! The roosters did their job well and I was very happy with incubation results for new chicks. The Third set I had was the white Cornish (Seasonal) to stuff the freezer. I wish I would have started that way, I could have saved a lot of money and heart ache.We have All four seasons here in Arkansas..The Orps and the Reds were the most durable, Easy to be around Great tasting eggs and meat..I'll never have any other.

    FWIW: You really should use eyebolts with big washers on both sides on those skids for pulling, the ones you are using will just pull out as the wood ages. Also, it is nice to have the skids extend out in front of the structure a foot or more so you can use the three point hitch to lift up, if needed, to free the structure from mud/etc. Anyway, I enjoy your farm.

They are sweet tempered and allow the old Bantams to boss them. Even the Bantams are starting to lay again. Oh and the eggs are differing shades of chocolate and so yummy.

    It worked! Well done! Harbor Freight has 10" wheels with tires that should work they are made as replacements for 2 and 4 wheeled carts and come in solid or pneumatic, tubed and tubeless. With different types of wheels.

    • @Newman81964
      @Newman81964 4 года назад

      I got a couple of those H.F. tires for my cart and the first time I used the cart with 50 lbs in it, the wheels fell apart. The center of the rim part stayed in place, but the outer part of the rim where the tire is just fell apart and the tires fell off the cart. They rims are made with a real thin cheap metal and are only tack welded together. I tried using a flux core wire welder to put them back together, but with how thin and cheap the metal is, it just kept blowing holes through where I was welding.

    Have you considered composting bins? You could build them with 4 bays, start by filling the first bay then when it gets full, use the Kubota to shift it to the second bay which stirs the compost around, giving the microbes and worms a chance to digest what has not been digested. By doing it like that and keeping it covered, by the time you get to the 4th bay your compost should be nice and dark and rich.

    That hook hitch is better than just the ball but the right way and safe way is to but a hitch without a ball, just the hole then buy a shackle to fit it. You then wrap the chain thru the shackle.

    If you use some wet/dry sand paper on a sanding block (maybe 220 grit) on that table top repair, you will degloss the epoxy and make it blend even better with the concrete top. Use some water while you sand.

      I have seen many people do that with their roll bar because they got tired of hitting their head on it every time they got on or off the tractor. Many times, the roll bar is just too short (all depends on the height of the user). My parents have 2 of those Kubota tractors and my step father almost knocked himself out by hitting his head on that roll bar.

    As a stonemason, had this happen many times. Drilled bigger holes into both sides for stainless pins . Filled them and smeared edge with coloured epoxy, pushed pins in, aligned broken edges on supports. With masking tape along broken edges, let it harden a bit before removing most of the excess. After drying, use a vertical blade to SCRATCH away rest. Be gentle, it will be very hard to pick the repair if done right. This works, as experience proved.

    You dont need it now but a simple farm Clevis would have worked to hook up the chain. I guess you need to be an old farm boy to know what that is.🤠

    Nice job Al getting the coop out of the workshop. Just a thought about putting either chicken wire or filler boards between the rafter boards where they meet the top of the walls. Raccoons and opossums are strong and I have seen them push that plastic roof right out of the screws holding it down. My mom has a attic fan and they tore the plastic cover right off of it and were getting in the attic. Disappointing to see the chicken. You and Gina have a beautiful family.

    Sorry about your olive egger. You could get some Whiting true blues if you order from Murray McMurray. Then you’d have blue eggs this season and olive edgers next with Rusty’s help.

    Try squaring up your dough, then cover 1/2 the dough with just a little melted butter or sesame oil for a different flavor. Then fold the buttered 1/2 over the other half and roll or pat out to your required thickness, and cut and bake. Recombine the dough left after the first cutting of biscuits by closing the holes by squeezing the dough back together and fold once and cut the rest of your biscuits. The scrapes after this cutting can be combined cut into small squares, baked and use for garnishing your stews or soups. When you cut the biscuits always cut as close as you can to the other cuttings so your dough is used up for the first cutting as much as possible. Here's the best non-traditional method, square your dough to a rectangle or square, then cut it in squares, make sure your dough will divide evenly into what ever size you want. 12 by 12 equals, 12-- 4 inch biscuits and so on depending on how thick you want your biscuits. No waste or recombining the left over dough, as there is none. The butter or oil in the middle? Means your biscuit will split evenly in the middle of the biscuit without using a knife to split them. Just give them a gentle hand twist. I have enjoyed watching your show and hope you will continue to post more episodes.

    Good job getting the chicken coop out without incident! I always guess number of eggs every morning with you and Olivia! Love your NE accent. Reminds me of my Dad. He was from Westport Ma. Sorry you lost a chicken. I've had that happen to me, too. One day fine, next day passed away. It's frustrating not to know why. Thanks for another great video!

    Not sure about the concern with a chain around the ball? Never had a problem as long as the ball is tight. Al you should consider drilling through holes on your runners and slipping a schedule 40 3/4 or 1" pipe through it to pull from. you could pull from a fabricated connection in the middle or run the pipe 4" past your runners and hook on that. Those eye bolts even if they hold for the initial move will not hold if you move it a year or two down the road and that would be a safety concern. Love your channel!!

    Last August I purchased 14 Blue Sapphire chicks from Murray McMurray Hatchery... I highly recommend them. They start laying eggs sooner than most breeds and I'm getting a lot of eggs every day... They started laying eggs by 18-20 weeks old... they lay a medium dark eggs. They are suppose to lay 290+ eggs a year and they have such a sweet temperament also
