That’s why teachers are overrated. I loved my guitar teacher. He taught me the basics. Like how to hold a guitar, and correct finger positioning but when I stopped doing lessons I took off as a guitar player. Still am not the greatest and I know that, but I was able to branch out and I taught myself so many songs on my own (mostly Tom Petty, Traveling Wilburys and some Beatles stuff). Granted they were simple at start but I built up and i can play some pretty impressive stuff like Never Going Back Again by Fleetwood Mac, etc.

@@rensb9214 I almost consider midi a plus tbh
almost no one can write truely original riffs
people are honestly bad at it
that's part of why so much music sounds the same
dispite the fact that you could mathematically
      generate brand new chord progressions
every second from the beginning of the universe till now
and you will not have repeated a progression
humans just like to rewrite what they hear
we evolved to recognise and reproduce patterns
      not infinitely generate unique ones
it's not in our nature to be creative
it's just a byproduct of pattern recognition
but by using random gen to get a small section
you can just customise the play of those parts
you end up with significantly better variety
imo it's also a more enjoyable creative process
so it's kind of a win win 🎉

They really are advancing the craft by bringing in influences from outside of rock music and emulating the sound of chopped up samples in their writing.

This dude is doing some next level shit" but after learning a few songs i totally agree. Its simplistic, but technique strung together. Where i give total hats off, is in writing it. Stringing techniques, through chords, with the ability to make it work like singular art. That's pretty cool regardless

Also polyphia does not suck. It is interesting and mesmerising. Even the most basic of songs can be beautiful. You can't diminish someone's enjoyment of a song via explaining its technical difficulty.
