    @MotorCityMechanic THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR THIS!!! You were a great help. My Dodge Avenger is at 128k miles and my gear shift got stuck after I parked it in my apartment lot. I realized the bushing had broke, but I ordered the part you recommended and just installed it today with the help of this AMAZINGLY DETAILED, very well instructed, great visualization of a tutorial. Chrysler cars seem to have these issues regularly and your video really helped me. Thank you and keep up the great work!

    This is a fantastic video. You really saved my life and money. I am very grateful to you sir. One quick question though, my check engine light is on even though I fixed it. Sorry I'm a teenager with very little car experience. Is there anyway to know why it's still on. The first time it came one was when the bushing came off and now that I fixed it, it's still on! What do I do? Thank you.

      Alonso Gonzalez Afternoon Alonso. The code may be related to something else. I recommend visiting your local auto parts store and have them check and clear the code. Let me know what the code was once you find out. Make sure to subscribe and watch my other videos

    Hey I have a Chrysler Sebring 2007, and the car won’t shift out of park unless i override the system and then it switches gears but it’s also delayed. For instance it will be in reverse but on the dash it’s reading neutral. I did have some transmission work done on it I’m not for sure if that had to do a lot with the problem or if something just broke. Would I have to get a whole new shifter installed or shifter cables or bushing ?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  5 лет назад

      Being that the gears are not matching up I would thing a linkage issue. I recommend checking at the trans to make no issues with the bushing or loose linkage at the trans. If okay then check at the shifter. Thanks for the question and for watching. Make sure to subscribe and Merry Christmas

      Thanks for the comment. Actually we are more like distant cousins lol. I'm located outside of Augusta Georgia. The name confuses alot as far as to where I am. It more about what I work on then where I work on them. I deal mainly with the Chrysler branded vehicles so I use the "motorcity" name to generally cover those vehicles. I did purchase the part from Bushingfix.com for the transmission cable on my 2008 Sebring part number TB1KIT20. It shipped quick and was easy to fix - your video was very helpful in making it easy to fix. It was a little hard to put the bushing into the red piece, but all-in-all pretty simple. THANKS AGAIN! ~Joe

    Hi! I have a 2001 Chrysler Sebring limited and my transmission won't shift in 2nd or 3rd gear. I changed the input and output sensor and transmission shift solenoid. however it's still won't shift. Can you please use your expertise to help me ? thanks highly appreciated.

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  6 лет назад +1

      The first step in this process is to scan all the control modules to see what codes are present. If its not shifting then there has to be a code set for sure. The code will give us a direction to go in. Otherwise we are going at it blind and replacing un-needed parts.

    can this cause your car not to start? I just bought my son a 08 Chrysler Sebring 3 weeks ago and today he couldn't get it to start when leaving from work, The shifter was in park but the indicator said it was in Reverse. We got it towed home, then after a few tries I was able to start it up and drive it around the block, but when I pulled it back in driveway it wouldn't start again and it was in park but of course the indicator said again its in Reverse. I hoping its not the transmission and just maybe the kit I need to buy.

    Used your videos to replace this part in my brother's charger. Dad found it made out of aluminum. Started once went thru all gears no problems. More than once. However on the next start to show dad it was working, car would not start. We have tried everything. Trying to figure out if something could have blown.
    Replaced battery still nothing. Any ideas?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 лет назад +1

      Not too sure what might have happened. If it was okay before the repair then I would make sure to check everything out to be certain that nothing was done wrong. Its possibly going to take having access to a scanner that can access all the modules in the car .

    hi David awesome video just wondering the dealer really allows you to make repair video like this were there any concern at management level I don't know just curious

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 лет назад +1

      They are very cool about it and actually encourage me to make more. I get asked that alot. We figure that there are two types of people.....the ones that will do the repair themselves and not bring there vehicle in and then there are the ones that are curious what might be wrong with their vehicles and want to see what the repair requires and why they are being charged what they are. So it doest drive business away but actually brings business to the shop. People start trusting me and then are welling in some cases....to drive 2 hours for a simple repair. I do know of dealers that wont allow it. Luckily I have built a relationship with my owners and they are onboard and offer any assistance they can.

      Nice, your video completely changed my view of FCA dealership. Do you know how FCA dealerships are spoiled in San Francisco area? They don't give a xxxx about my vehicle, even under warranty. Terrible attitude to customers, service department never pick-up the phone like no one is there. No express oil change lane, no service coupon...Imagine you are surrounded by a population of 4million people and only 3 FCA dealership, each of them are 10-40 miles away from each other. Whereas this kinda FCA dealership density is very typical in an 100k population town in the midwest.

      I fully understand. I plan on possibly doing a "rant" video about that issue. I have a truck that's in for a repair that the another dealer couldn't do the repair on. We are just outside of the second largest city in Georgia.....the other dealer is the largest in the area with 6 car brands on their lot. They had the truck for 3 months! Saying they could do the repai because they didn't have a lift larger enough to pick the truck up. Crazy thing is that it doesn't need to be jack up/lifted......it's just a sensor replacement that I can do in the parking lot. That pisses me off! It gives the brand a bad name. I will never understand it. So the big shop dumps it off on the small shop that we are

    Yes it was just code p0700 and P0 765 got transmission replaced and New control solenoid put n but still has p0700 showing up

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 лет назад

      For the most part you cant have a P0700 code without a follow up code. P0700 will be set in the PCM and then the TCM will have the other code.....for example the P0765. You can clear the code in one module and then the other still be present. You need to make sure the code is cleared in all modules and then see if the codes return. Like I mentioned.....by design, you cant have one code without having others. P0700 is just the way for the TCM to scream.....hey come look at me and ask me what code do I have.

  • @MarkPhi09
    @MarkPhi09 7 лет назад

    Ok I fixed the p0765 code and the p0700 still there so how do I clear it or should I give it time to clear since I just fix other code

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  7 лет назад

      The majority of the time you can just go to the module that has the P0700 code and just clear it once we made sure there were no codes in the TCM. Other times all you needed to do was clear the code in the TCM and then the other code P0700 would disappear. One thing is.......if the issue has been repaired then over time it should clear itself.

      Not sure whats going on Stephanie. I havent had any issue getting the ones that I have used inserted into the red guide piece. You may try a bit of grease on the notched side and see if that helps. If it doesnt then you may want to contact the company and see what assistance they might be able to offer. Mine too.. so I bought a second one and I tried to pop it on the way they video show mine is taking off the cable arm it popped off and now somewhere hidden under the engine, smh.. so I go to AutoZone and I buy the universal part which is clear oh by the way the first part was black the second part was white now this part from AutoZone is clear and now I can't even push it on because it's hard plastic.... Fml, lol. so until I take it to a mechanic to get it done or have a mechanic come to the house I'm out of a vehicle over a little piece of plastic other than this video is very very informational.

    I ordered the part, but it almost looks like the bushing can be replaced without removing the box. Is that doable? I realize the potential for losing something is greater, but do you ever do it that way?

    • @MotorCityMechanic
      @MotorCityMechanic  8 лет назад +1

      You certainly can if you can reach it easily. Main reason I did the repair that way was so that you could clearly see how to do the repair. Plus I took the end off which isnt needed either. So yeah....you should do fine after having watched the video and understanding how it works. Thanks for the purchase and the comment. Make sure to subscribe!
