Its 2023 now and I watched this video when I'm still young and dont have any pedals. This video help me alot starting to know what guitar pedals are because at that time there is not information about guitar pedals not just like now it's very easy to access in social media all you want to know.
@CA_TRV interesting points ,if anyone else wants to learn about best online christian guitar lessons try Tarbetti Worship Music Tutor ( search on google ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my brother in law got amazing results with it.
I am from Ukraine, and I must say that IT'S THE GREATEST VIDEO ABOUT GUITAR GEAR, PEDALS AND EFFECTS ORDER! Seriously! I've digged up whole RUclips and I haven't found more useful and more informative and quality video. In the end of it (when you use slider) I thought "It will be perfect if he shows e-bow tricks, but, probably not in this time" and after that you show it, man! ALL IN ONE! And I need to mention: all this video going in atmospheric cathedral or church building. Awesome! May God bless you, guys!!! Thanks you a lot! P.S. I'm really interested by your Thinline tele 72 reissure, and I will buy it in future.
It always amazes me to see peoples comments on videos...i thought this was very informative from a person who obviously wants to help others share in the passion he himself enjoys...Thanks for the tips, God bless!!
i like one thing that he added right at the end. Learn your theory. Learn your scales. I've been playing electric for a few churches for years now, and that's without a doubt the most important thing. Learning to be a musician is probably a good thing to do if you want to play music. Learn to break out of the standard things that everyone else does. Maybe (contrary to the video) play with a Led Zeppelin-esque sound. Maybe gain influence from people other than worship leaders. It helped me :)
I feel that music is an awesome outreach to people. My band plays a strange blend of punk/progressive metal that glorifies God. We just released an EP, and have been playing out to spread the Word of Christ to the generally unpreached. I do have many of the pedals described here. Praises to da Father!!
that is a good point, it's important to see your playing as a form of worship too. That makes it meaningful to be creative in your playing. But I'd like to add that you can do anything as long as it's in the goal of helping people worship better. I'd say do what you do as long as it doesn't take peoples' attention away from God.
Dude you know this video is old when they talk about using distortion in worship music. To me those were the days, I really like the direction that the genre is taking now but I was born musically in the 2008-2012 alternative music scene so yeah. I kind of love those oldies.
Really helpful, especially the A, B, C tip. I'm about to join one of our church bands and have not played worship stuff before, so was wondering what the right effects were, to get the Worship Central and Hillsong sound. Cheers!
It's a vintage 70s Thinline Telecaster - not sure which year though. They're really cool and unique because of the wide range humbuckers which can no longer be replicated b/c they don't make the same magnets anymore.
you can use any amp for worship! Just use what you have for now. In my experience every amp has its sweet spot so use your ears and play around until you find what works. Also, you don't actually need an amp these days - you can get some really great DIs with amp and speaker emulation. Just some thoughts - hope that helps!
I like the A,B,C explanation. I do guitar workshops at Christ For the Nations Institute and I'll have to add that into my curriculum. Keep rockin' bro!
You either have to tap it crazy fast, or just get a TC electronics nova delay, or the flashback delay, those have a switch, on which you can choose to have quarter notes or 8th notes, when the 8th notes one is chosen, the tap you give will come out as the dotted 8 notes. Hope this helps! :)
OR instead of having your delay in your chain, you can run an effects loop. I've found that running delay and other effects like those in an effects loop apart from overdrives/distortions proves to make both sound better. Also, if you run an effects loop but keep your volume pedal in your chain, swells sound much better because the volume pedal doesn't effect you effects. Of course, all of this comes down to personal preference. My being introduced to an effects loop changed my life haha.
God doesn't care at all what our music sounds like, he cares about our hearts. If you want to worship with just a piano, go right ahead, but it's 100000 times more powerful for me with a full band.
@OBS1Di0N The song is called Morning star and it's by Al Gordon, does some of the worship at worship central events and does the pod-cast with tim hughes
Looks like an AC15TB (Top Boost) from around 1999-2002. I've got one. Play it at pretty much every gig. Upgrading the speaker is a good idea... They come with an Eminence "Bulldog" speaker that sounds pretty good, but nothing like a Celestion Blue or Gold.
@100grapes To be more specific it looks to be a real deal 1972 thinline. The 72 differs from the 69 thinline (with standard tele pickups) with what are called wide range pickups. The alloys used in these pickups are no longer available which is why the original 72's go for thousands. But Novac and Lollar make some great replicas. You can get a thinline re-issue in a Mexi, Japanese or the just released American re-issue. I have a MIJ that is great but hope to upgrade the pickups on.
Thank you very much, i own a nova system fron tc, and that one does not have that option, i am really thinking on buying a new delay, thank you for this review!
@WGResources .. The A,B,C is good to cover bcuz that I noticed at CFNI most have/only use either a clean sound or just 1 overdriven sound, which sounds too much or too little in different songs
i find that an A,B,C,D system is much more effective when it comes to gain and volume effects... being A a clean rythm sound, B a slightly boosted clean lead sound, C a distorted rythm sound and D the main lead sound... this with a worship band... but this system is works best using 2 pedals, one to boost and another to give some gain and then it depends on the mix though you could have 2 boosts and 2 distortions if it helps
@xDyer2394x Go with the Fulldrive 2. It has both Overdrive and Boost, so you can really utilize your Overdrive for a B level kind of gain (not to much, not to little) and the Boost is primarily to boost your volume when it's instrumental time. I plan to get a Fulldrive 2 which completes my ABC gain levels.
Thank you very much for this video!!!! I've been teaching myself guitar for 2 years now and now I really want to take in consideration pedals and effects. This has taught me a lot. And what was that last device you used after the slide thingy? Sorry for my ignorance haha :P
Very informative... apart from the "different pickup positions also make a bit of a difference on the sound". Different pickup positions make a MASSIVE difference on the sound! If you want to blend into the mix with swells and atmospheric tones then you definitely want the neck pickup, bridge pickup for anything that needs more definition. If you use the wrong pickup for the wrong part of a song you can so easily find yourself either disappearing into the mix or cutting right through when you're not supposed to. That's one of the most fundamental principles of electric guitar playing, comes well before needing to know about your pedal layout! Otherwise great video :)
Hey bud,I liked your vid so much and how you showcased the dd20 that I went and got one.Thx for the vid and make some more tuits plz!!! What would you suggest for a standard dirty delay setting and standard clean? Thx. Be Blessed!!!
(Continued) The Bible does say play skillfully, not play safe. I generally do whatever I feel sounds good, and it usually works. Some slow worship songs sound good with a pinch harmonic here and there, and a drop tuning every now and then. But just have fun, praising God should be fun, even when life sucks, much like the song sometimes, make it fun.
@sullivan113 deprnding on the song, i will just use one pedal, but on faster, more rock type song like certain Kutless songs i layer them and i layer them to get different textures. like i have a eh germanium overdrive( a smooth overdrive) and a green screamer( harsher, vintage, more saturated overdrive. i usually stack them for a rock rhythm guitar tone. stack as much pedals as you want, if the sound starts to mud raise ur treble mids and tone or buy a bbe sonic maximizer. and invest in the eh
@DReidGuitars lolol epic. Just wondering, do you layer them or always play individually? I've been putting my board together and not too sure if it'll sound muddy if I layer a lower-gain one with a higher-gain one. Or should I use two lower gain ones together??? Anyone else know? haha.
how do u have such a clear tone without a bypass looper? Ur not loosing any signal! BTW is that an American Thinline Telecaster or a 800 dollar version??
Do you have a delay or reverb running the whole time or is that just the natural reverbation of the room? Trying to find how you get the extra depth in your tone.

this is great. you've covered all the things lead guitarists need and how to use them. great job!
I learned more from this video than I have in any thing else. Thanks mate!

Most helpful video I've seen on this subject

Dude that was so nice and clear and easy to listen to! Thanks so much..

2020, not much has changed, teles, vox ac, delays, swells, only thing that's changed is no more toms shoes, and long hair
Haha pretty accurate
probably my favorite gear run through . . . very informative.
very comprehensive, a great resources for the guys just starting out.
THANKS A LOT OF HELP. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK FOR THE KINGDOM.

@OBS1Di0N The song is called Morning star and it's by Al Gordon, does some of the worship at worship central events and does the pod-cast with tim hughes
you forgot to mention. TUBE AMPS. my goodness does it help a ton! i bought a Vox AC30 and it changed the way i play.
That was an extremely helpful vid; thanks! God bless
The delay pedal is the greatest invention ever!!!

That was a very good overview!
@JRNicholson27794 Thanks for the reply and info, that song has anointing all over it,and so does Worship Central!!!
Cool stuff!!!
Thank you very much, i own a nova system fron tc, and that one does not have that option, i am really thinking on buying a new delay, thank you for this review!
Thanks for this. Great information.
@PeidoLord It's a Line 6 DL4 that he uses with the DD20 as far as delays go

If your budget is tight for the AC30 go for the AC15, and make sure you mic it up. I got my AC15 and absolutely love it.
Thank u..loved it very informative
hey great interesting sounds i wasn't expecting that
Fender Deville 2x12 takes pedals reeeeally well. great amp for worship
This dude is the definition of a worship guitarist lol. Great video btw

Good info. Thanks, Bro. Yes I play an original Tele 69 Thinline.

Enjoyed your class, however didn't cover Chorus's and Phaser's and Flanger's. What is your take on those jetting sort of sound?
Is that pedal in the lower left corner, a compression pedal? Or do you not run compression? Thanks!

Cool stuff, Have you heard of the Spin Doctor for changing strings?
Let me know your fedback,
Thanks, Mike
Thanks for the rig rundown! What kind of AC30 is that? Vintage? TB6? What year? Thanks!

where do get his shoes.?? do they say.. "be the change that you want in the world" ??
@sullivan113 deprnding on the song, i will just use one pedal, but on faster, more rock type song like certain Kutless songs i layer them and i layer them to get different textures. like i have a eh germanium overdrive( a smooth overdrive) and a green screamer( harsher, vintage, more saturated overdrive. i usually stack them for a rock rhythm guitar tone. stack as much pedals as you want, if the sound starts to mud raise ur treble mids and tone or buy a bbe sonic maximizer. and invest in the eh
what is the title of the song in 0:00 and 9:19?
Your accent makes this feel like Spinal Tap.
Such a relevant worship hipster!!!
What do your shoes say?
@JohnPaulCM
What pedal are you using? The digitech Whammy?
@joshuarugg some new digotal amps have done a good job of replicating the tube amps
@DReidGuitars lolol epic. Just wondering, do you layer them or always play individually? I've been putting my board together and not too sure if it'll sound muddy if I layer a lower-gain one with a higher-gain one. Or should I use two lower gain ones together??? Anyone else know? haha.
Great video. I've been missing the "B" sound, out of the ABC system...
thanks, Gbu!
It depends but I have a DD 20 and it sounds freaking amazing.
how do get such an awesome clean tone? i have a american deluxe tele and an ac15!. and cant achieve that!

how do u have such a clear tone without a bypass looper? Ur not loosing any signal! BTW is that an American Thinline Telecaster or a 800 dollar version??
nice shoes!
Keeley Modded BD-2, has the blue LED :)
Do you have a delay or reverb running the whole time or is that just the natural reverbation of the room? Trying to find how you get the extra depth in your tone.
Please help me were did you connect your delay on from of the amp or on loop back of the amp.
Well I already got a Marshall 2000 60 at tsl but will it take in the pedals great because I'm going to put down 3 grand to buy a dream pedal board
Hi there,me I ask if all of your fxboard run directly to the front or some of in the fx loop,,thanks God bless
