Damn it took you 2 whole days to paint those valve covers and you said the prep work was alright lol! How long did you spend using the wire brush to get all the paint off? Seems like it’s worth just buying them painted online due to the hassle
Have you ever cleaned the individual throttle bodies ? I live in Iraq and here they get dirty but I'm scared i won't be able to recalibrate them with a computer, 370z middle east specs can't be calibrated you'll have to drive it a few days and it will calibrate itself and I'm not comfortable with that
These covers are magnesium. The flex and warp over time. You're going to get a leak again. You either need new covers or aluminum ones. If you go aluminum, you'll never need to change them.
not going to last long at all. gotta powdercoat these magnesium valve covers with a gas filler primer powdercoat. I give it less than 6 months before it starts flaking and bubbling.
Looks like how it should have from the factory. I like how it matches the OEM plenum finish.
Agreed! Not bad at all
Ooof next mod for me to do to my e92’s. Looks simple. Thanks for the video 👍
Yes, it’s worth the time to do. Good luck 👍
Great job on this video, hubby! Love the cleaner look of the engine
Thanks wifey! Took a lot of work, but worth it.
Great choice on the color. Looks much better!
Thanks! OEM+
You are so amazing!
I just got my E90 M3, and you're vids are so helpful.
Thank you for your all work Sal.
Happy new year.
Happy new year! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Man I love this car! They just don’t make engines like this anymore :(
Thank you Luca! This is a collector’s car for sure 👌
@@Sals_Garage Without a doubt! I love the mods you’ve done to this one!
@@lucascarreviews thank you so much! It’s come a long way 😊
Did the same in my interior, love the wrinkle paint
Yea I’m a fan. So easy and effective
Did you use brake cleaner for the inside of the covers?
Yes, if you can get the old paint out from the inside even better so it doesn’t get in the engine.
I tried this myself anddd it does not look nearly as good…. But I’m happy my leak is fixed haha
Happy you got the leak addressed. Nice work 👍

2 days mainly to wait for paint to dry. It’s a lot of work, might be better to buy aftermarket. Good luck 👍
I would like to know if you primed the interior too or let the original finish inside?
I left the original finish inside. Didn’t bother to paint it since I didn’t want it flaking off into the engine.
@@Sals_Garage Mines are flaking badly inside (I find small pieces of paint in my oil filer) and I try to find a way to address the problem
Strip all the paint off the inside and leave it bare.
Great job Sal… what’s the intake you have there?
Thanks!

Heat shield is custom made using a plastic trash can from Walmart 😆
How has it held up over time
So far, very well. No scratches or peeling yet.
Did the same thing in my garage with wrinkled red paint.
Congrats! Happy for you
How did your work hold up over the year?
Still going surprisingly strong. No scratches or paint flaking off. It’s actually quite durable.
glad to hear it!@@Sals_Garage
@@AK47s4EveryOne glad to help!
I’m surprised that you didn’t paint it blue. Still looks great tho and I think you went with a more mature look to match the outside now.
We wanted to go Blue, but didn’t know if the paint would look good so we just went with black since it hides imperfections easier. 👍
@@Sals_Garage bro, your car is my dream car.
@@im_so_es_ef_wit_it yours is mine too! Can’t wait to see it in person soon 🙌🏼

I have not, but they can be removed without needing to re calibrate them on the e9x M3 platform. I will probably do it sometime soon.
@@Sals_Garage great, I look forward to watching the video❤️
@@amedlak thanks brother.
Hey Bro what’s the TQ sequence?
Start in the center and work your way outward with alternating pattern.
@@Sals_Garage Thanks Bro 🫡

How's the condition after 8 months?
Still looks great? The primer definitely helped.

True, but so far they aren’t leaking or scratched up yet. If they last a few more years then it’s worth the savings 👍
@@Sals_Garage absolutely. Check out NRW valve covers. Since you’re already good with a wrench, it’s a good upgrade. Did you go slon vanos covers?
@@stevenpetersmusic I just installed NRW covers and Sloan covers for a friend today 😆 The quality is excellent
@@Sals_Garage They really are!
How many cans of paint for the 2 valve covers
I used 1 can but bought 2 just in case.
Is it still holding up?
Yes, surprisingly well. 👍
You can see some of it here in a recent video: ruclips.net/video/K3K0XDo42ns/видео.html

Thanks Sauce!

I’ll update y’all if that ever happens. For now still looks new. This wrinkle paint is very durable so far.
Sheeshhh
