I do calisthenics myself as a 6 ft 2 190 lbs, and pretty lean. But be honest bro you can learn a lot of cali skills but some are impossible with a certain weight and height combined like a full plance
I've seen a lot of people talking down on Chris over the years on fitness YT, but this dude is one of the most genuine and hard working people I've seen on this website JUST LIKE LARRY WHEELS. Major respect to the calisthenics community and to CHRIS HERIA himself. Bro is a saint.
"Advanced" calisthenics is the keyword. There are bigger guys doing push ups, dips, pull ups ect. but planche and handstand push ups are another level.
Very inspiring to see 270 lbs doing calisthenics! I was 220, 2 kids, need to support family, and though calisthenics was not for me, then I made a goal this year to try calisthenics 30 min a day, 3-4 times a week… I just unlocked Muscle Up coupe days ago, now working on planche push ups, then handstand hopefully by end of this year. LET’S GO!
Muscle up = lvl 3 / 10 Planche = lvl 20 / 10 Hate to break it to you, but if you are above age 30, and 200 + pounds you wont get a full planche. And no, Larry was never close to a full planche.
@avatarion You couldn't be more wrong, lol. Try having two kids and see how it affects all areas of your life, from sleep, to diet, training, recovery, etc. Ever had to stop a training session in the middle of it because your kid is squirting diarrhea all over the floor? Being a dad is a great thing. But it most certainly affects every area of your life. Especially the Gains.
I watched the handstand video on Chris Heria’s channel and that got me super motivated to work on my handstand. I’ve made a big step towards getting closer to holding it making a few changes.
so cool to see this duo, i think larry can get stronger because of calisthenis movements and keep the tendons and joints healthy. its a different kind of strength and also good for endurance.
45:20 look at Larry and then at 45:50 look at Chris. This just prooves the straight arm strentgh (tendon strentgh) is real. Chris is way lighter but he holds the same weight with more ease
Chris and Larry, ones of the coolest fitness influencers! This video had me doing handstands. I even found the video short, I wanted more! Larry, you have very good control of your body 💪🏼
if larry achieve level intermediate of control in calisthenics with his body weight. he is going to become a monster, just imagine a really big guy controlling all that mass like nothing
@@kaykmartins7335ramon dino started from calisthenic before bodybuilding, larry started as bodybuilder and powerlifter. Huge difference in muscle memory
Watching Larry branch out to the whole community is honestly so motivating! Bro has went from strongman to body building to rock climbing to arm wrestling to slap boxing to calisthenics! I can’t wait to see what’s next
I've always wanted a big bodybuilder/powerlifter to try calisthenics to see how quick they progress. Finally Larry takes this challenge head on. So siccc. Keep it up! Don't forget your tendons & ligaments heal wayyyy slower than your muscles. Listen to your body, not worth injury in an attempt to rush the process.
1 year of calisthenics plus weight lifting will have Larry looking like an anime character! Hey Larry, if you also did indoor rock climbing and incorporated some dancing. You would be a crazy strong and nimble guy!
I love all this sort of exercise, I wish I was doing it when I was younger, but you should be surprised how quick the body adapts at all ages, love yoga as well👊🏼 this guy is a good teacher as well I think
I think because Chris is so advanced he forgot all the beginner stuff one needs to know as a beginner. Like there is so much to the HS, shoulder mobility, not looking too high up otherwise creates a banana shape in the back and makes it harder to hold a HS. The HS is a complicated skill, with so many elements. I think Larry could do with better instructions for HS but still very nice of Chris to show some skills.
Inspired me to try a hand stand push up on the wall at 6’2 260 20% bmi 😂. I got about half way down & was able to struggle & push back up. Haven’t done a handstand since I was a kid & rarely lift weights but I’ve been in the army for 6 years & maintained a level of fitness. I’ve always wanted to do calisthenics but felt like I was too big
Chris you are absolutely amazing… ❤ I would never ever be able to do that, but I had to learn to stand and walk again 20 years ago.. Right now I’m doing a clean/dirty bulk😂, to gain weight. I want to become greater 😊Walking 10.000 steps a day now :).. So I hope something will become better 😇. Continue enjoying your health 🙂
Truly kudos to Larry for doing all those handstands ! I’m a 35 F and I’m like ..umm I don’t have enough room in my apt to do this. But I def want to try now 😂
Larry did really well. Chris is a great teacher 💪🏽 Larry use to do handstands & be more flexible . He got too big at 14. Always good to be flexible & breathe properly ❤
I'm going to make a suggestion for you Larry. Find some of those really thick metal pipe parallel bars somewhere. And use those to hold your body up with your arms str8 out on them palms down at your side. Just lay forward and bring your legs up until you can hold your whole body horizontal with your arms. I'm trying to find those parallel bars myself. I have no idea where the closest ones are. I have some parallel bars and got the feeling of the lift this morning. Legs weren't str8 out tho. I was at the end of my session. Already worked the muscle groups involved. You're 270 so those bigger metal pipe bars that are cemented into the ground will support you much better.
honestly surprised. I know larry is strong but with his body bodyweight he really has good control even if these things are alien movements for him. 100% he can do a full handstand pushup against the wall. And yeah, practice stacking against the wall, like shoulders touching wall, glutes touching, heels touching and just live there for like a minute. When you're stacked like that you'll feel weightless.
Goes to show, these are 2 totally different fields of expertise. You can be amazing at one thing but absolutely struggle with another ...........such a great attitude to learn though
I never want to hear the excuse “I’m too big for calisthenics” Larry you’re the man 🔥💪🏽 motivating me to train harder watching this!
Depends what kind of big
Brother do Collab with Ramon dino then it will epic❤

I can see Larry Wheels repping out free standing handstand push ups by the end of the year for sure 🔥💪🏼

He needs to learn HS first though.

Larry is humble and versatile. Always willing to start from scratch and try something new
larry is a unit. doing calisthenics at 270
Big guys can do calisthenics if they're in shape, but he wasn't doing just normal stuff. He was doing very difficult calisthenics for a big guy.
"Advanced" calisthenics is the keyword. There are bigger guys doing push ups, dips, pull ups ect. but planche and handstand push ups are another level.

Kids have nothing to do with any of this. If you have an hour for the gym you have enough time for calisthenics.

Glad to see Larry doing calisthenics with Chris, two legends. You are going to get there Larry💯🔥
Finally, legit waiting for this video. Been using the pushup workout you did with him, good stuff.
Larry’s just naturally good at anything athletic lol

Appreciate both of y’all this video gave me one more crucial exercise I need to master to unlock my full planche 🙌🏾🙏🏾💯
