Ill be buying this one. Its offered here in the Philippines at Tactical Asia. Ill buy but dual purpose use. When camping in the jungle anything left out even packs hanging from a tree or line and of course food will be covered with ants and the occasional scorpion or snake. Ill string up the hammock and put all my stuff inside and zip it closed.
For hammock, I prefer the scratcher hammock. There are a lot of suitable sapling in a good forest to set the hammock and is far more comfortable to sleep on. A good mosquitoes net over it complete the setup (under a large tarp, of course) It may take a longer time to set up
I have the jungle hammock, Its pretty nice. I will be doing a video soon. I had to get a replacement after falling out of it in the middle of the night and ripping the net...LOL
Any suggestion on a good rain fly to pair this up with? I'm doing a 7 day motorcycle camping trip with friends next month to the Adirondacks and I think the Jungle is a great cost effective option and the netting should keep from getting eaten alive by the bugs. Plus, I see it's rated for up to 400lbs and being around 315 myself, that's important. Thanks for any feedback and it was a great to the point vid.
thanks. After I posted I searched around your vids a little more and saw your review of it. If it were your money would you go with the Snugpak hammock & shelter or do you have a different brand or model you prefer?
Brian Byrne They come that way. I made the same thing for my ENO and copied this design. The only downfall is paracord can hurt the tree so use a stick in between or a strap around the tree.
I had a Snugpak jungle hammock......lasted 3 times before the zipper came almost completely loose. If I ever bought one again (which I will not) The first thing I'd do is to restitch the entire zipper. The hammock itself was well made and if you are careful hanging it properly the netting should be fine. Much too delicate for my proposes. The ENO jungle hammock cost twice as much but is easily twice the quality.
Living Survival I admit I've been pretty interested in hammocks this year, however other styles of shelters are (in my oppinion and experience) better suited to three or four season camping in my AO. Specifically the old style Eastern European Lavvu, however I'm having some difficulty sourcing one at a decent price.
Living Survival my reasoning is structural strength when two feet of snow can fall in less than a night, an A frame like the Western shelters simply won't hold up where the teepee/lavvu is very strong by design. Hammocks are also limited when hit by a ton of snow although in some situations they do trump all other styles. Of course, there are tarp shelter designs that are almost just as strong as the teepee/lavvu but the material is much weaker than old school canvas and packing a suitable canvas tarp is pretty heavy even when compared to the old lavvu. Just some thoughts.
Living Survival I just ordered one of these from Walmart because it came with the gear to put It up and the texport didn't. Any tips or hints on this one? I haven't ever camped in a hammock before.
+Living Survival The one I got from Walmart was this hammock and it ended up popping out some of the loops on the net when I got in to it. I don't know why because it shouldn't have been holding any weight. I returned it and have ordered another so hopefully Ill be able to figure out what I did wrong.
Seen it before... Your guide ropes for the net were hung too high. Try attaching them at the level of your hammock suspension and not above it...OR replace the paracord with elastic cord.
Carlos Sepulveda Their all weather shelter works well. I have a video coming up in a few weeks with both their hammocks, both their tarps and their new under quilt and cocoon.
I do a lot of swamp and lake camping using the jungle hammock and I also incorporate a pad of some type (in my case the Klymit XL model) year round and in cooler times of year I also use the Snugpak brand under and over hammock quilts. Never had an issue with bites and sleep like a baby.
Thanks for taking your time to make this video, I found it very helpful!

the mi woodsman Thanks for watching as always ;)-
I see they have the jungle hammock on sale on Amazon for $49.00. Would this be a good first time hammock for me?
39camper Yeah.
I have the jungle hammock, Its pretty nice. I will be doing a video soon. I had to get a replacement after falling out of it in the middle of the night and ripping the net...LOL
Just ordered the jungle one. Thanks for the review.
Thanks for taking the time to do the review . I've been wanting a hammock for awhile . Can you use the jungle hammock without the net ?

Sig220Euro the all weather shelter they make pairs up with it nice.
thanks. After I posted I searched around your vids a little more and saw your review of it. If it were your money would you go with the Snugpak hammock & shelter or do you have a different brand or model you prefer?
Sig220Euro Henessy hammocks makes great kit and they tailor it to your height/weight. More pricey but the buy once type of thing.
thanks I'll check into them and see if you have a review in your vids
Sig220Euro in the shelter playlist I believe.
Good video. Jungle hammock should also had a solid roof like the clarkes or the old military models
a tarp will do for that.
Cool camping spot.
Nice rundown of these. I have the Jungle hammock and I'm just a little worried about tearing the netting. Have you had any problems with that?
+Benjamin Rolfe with all netting just be careful.
That looks like it's really useful and interesting
Did you add the knots into the paracord yourself, or did it come that way?
Brian Byrne They come that way. I made the same thing for my ENO and copied this design. The only downfall is paracord can hurt the tree so use a stick in between or a strap around the tree.

That's a good idea about protecting the trees with sticks.
drewsboats I do my best.
Crazy snugpak was too cheap to include tree huggers. I'm surprised.
Would you prefer this jungle hammock or the one that Texport makes?
+Adam Alford never tried the texport one, happy with these.
Living Survival I just ordered one of these from Walmart because it came with the gear to put It up and the texport didn't. Any tips or hints on this one? I haven't ever camped in a hammock before.

Nice place. Could you fit the stasha tarp into the jungle hammock?
+Carlos Sepulveda might be a little small even on the diagonal.
So what tarp do you recommend to be used?
Carlos Sepulveda Their all weather shelter works well. I have a video coming up in a few weeks with both their hammocks, both their tarps and their new under quilt and cocoon.
Great. Gracias Ben. I'll wait for the video.
you would think a tropical hammock would have a bug net....how tropical can it be without one????
theevanevanevan2 right, jungle and tropical both seem like they need it.
What stop bugs from biting your back side.....I'm thinking that, the nylon the bugs can bite through

Double layer hammocks will keep them from biting your back.
Great video, like you new You Tube icon.
Thanks for watching, yep gave all the sites a facelift ;)-
mosquito net will make your life 5000 times better in our stupid SEA jungle..
