This is why you make your own website because if you use these company websites to make money then you’re relying on them. For example if you upload a copyrighted picture and try to sell it, companies like Etsy can ban you whereas if you did that on your own website, nothing will happen because you’re making your own money and all the profit goes to you. You can sell whatever you want on your website ( even if it’s mature content ) without getting banned. Can’t do that on Etsy
this happened to me. ACTUALLY ruined my life. Not even being dramatic. Etsy got shut down with NO warning and NO response from etsy and it was 90% of my income... then rent went up $400 without warning so we couldn't renew. Had to move waaaayyyy out of town to room with friends. Got rid of half our belongings... the domino effect has been absolutely devastating
Oh no...I am so sorry....yes I have heard about Etsy doing this, that is why I am so hesitant on starting anything on their platform. Hopefully things will get better for you. Think of it this way, you have a proven concept that people are paying for. Move it to another platform or offline and get your grind back up. You got this!
thank you all so much for your kind words! Still kicking and working on new endeavors, but i never hesitate to tell anyone looking into etsy that it is a risky place to make a business. At least when you do what i did and make it a living that can be taken right out from under you. Hard lesson learned but i'm trying to manage a website now and be more independent.
Love the video❤️ I just started my print-on-demand journey and found Crafted Threads. They have a ton of designs and it saved me so much time. They have something in every niche. And lifetime updates too!!
You definitely shouldn’t quit your job with only one source of online income. As I heard on another video, “One is too close to zero”. That’s why you start a side business to begin with. Then keep creating more. Most really rich people have 7-10 income streams.
i hear this a lot as well, i want to do a side hustle while still working my 9-5 in hopes of my side hustle replacing my 9-5. but for the 7-10 income streams, how does someone have that manyyy 😫 like what kind of income streams are there for someone to have that many, thats what im trying to be on.
@@annam73_so much of it is semi-passive, and some will bring in way more than others. Just because there's 7 sources doesn't mean it's 7 EFFECTIVE sources. I have some short stories I wrote years ago available on Kindle (under a pseudonym) and Amazon affiliates account associated with an old RUclips channel. They bring in nickles at best, but count as two income sources. Then there's the day job, boom! Up to 3! I have some of my finished lace work in a local shop(although, I'm working to expand where my jewelry is available, so different shops for different markets), there's 4. Not to mention my investment account(#5). I'm going to try my hand at markets again this year as it was fairly lucrative last year(but I'm not making decals this year, so we'll see) which would be 6. I also want to get my lace patterns and kits in front of more eyes so I'll be hitting up various locally owned fiber and craft shops and I'm in the process of setting up an Etsy (but with any sales I'll have a link to my website proper). Those last two technically take it to 8! And once the digital patterns are up, there's only 3 that require any real time(aside from developing new patterns), my day job and the physical stock for different shops and markets. Even the investing is fairly hands-off. It also helps that I was obsessively lacemaking BEFORE all this. It's where I find my peace and zen. I go to lace guild meetings to socialize with people who are also passionate about lace, which o was doing BEFORE selling lace products. I want to keep enjoying this passion so I'm trying to be strategic about the business end so even if I end up not continuing with the business end, I'll keep engoying the lacemaking end. I don't want to burn out and hate it like I did with decals and stickers(FAR too labor intensive, nowhere near enough joy, and I was always afraid of overcharging despite most custom decals taking a ridiculous amount of time). Oh! And I'm also on a tarot reading hotline as a dream interpretor. Business is slow there, but I refuse to help people stalk their exes with tarot(extremely lucrative on the various platforms 😔)and dreams are usually much more lighthearted in origin. It's also really cool to learn about the nuance of different kinds of symbolism for different cultures.
You definitely could leave your job with one source of income. It depends on what kind of business you're doing or how much value it gives to your customers. You definitely don't want to solely depend on marketplaces like Etsy, Ebay or Amazon once you become successful; eventually the goal would be to move away from that and setup your own brand with your own website.
00:13 🚫 Selling on marketplaces like Etsy can be risky, with accounts getting suspended without clear reasons, leading to business disruptions. 01:55 🌐 Diversify your sources of traffic by having your own website and leveraging social media to build a customer base and reduce reliance on a single platform like Etsy. 03:27 💲 By driving traffic to your website, you can set your own prices for digital products, avoiding price wars and maximizing profit margins. 05:57 🚀 Building a solid business with consistent traffic and profits allows you to potentially sell it for a substantial sum, providing an exit strategy. 09:08 🛍 While Etsy is a good starting point for beginners, it should not be the sole platform for your digital product business; diversify to build a sustainable business
I just sold a property in Portland and I'm thinking to put the cash in stocks, I know everyone is saying it’s ripe enough, but Is this a good time to buy stocks? How long until a full recovery? How are other people in the same market raking in over $200k gains with months, I'm really just confused at this point
Yes, a good number of folks are raking in huge 6 figure gains in this downtrend, but such strategies are mostly successfully executed by folks with in depth market knowledge
It all depends on how long you're willing to hold for, stocks might likely tank further, but making serious gains in this downtrend wouldn't be a problem if you're a pro.Reason I decided to work closely with an brokerage-adviser ever since the market got really tensed and the pressure became so much(I should be retiring in 17months) so I've had an brokerage-adviser guide me through the chaos, its been 9months and counting and I've made approx. 650K net from all of my holdings
Elisse Laparche Ewing is the licensed fiduciary I use. Just research the name. You’d find necessary details to work with a correspondence to set up an appointment
Thank you for addressing it!!!!! Etsy is stealing people basically...is shutting stores out of the blue...no refunding no response...what I can't stand are those youtubers who keep advising people to even opening stores there...Etsy is not worth it
I lost my etsy store overnight when etsy decided to shut us down. It took 4 months to get to a life a changing income of 4k a month for my family. I still havent been able to get back that kind of income. I feel Jason is sincere and today is the first day Im subscribed to his channel.
Hi, I have an Etsy store (for ebooks). I also have Amazon Kindle publishing. Amazon is also dangerous they frozen my account once. Well for selling my ebooks I use several platforms (put my eggs in different baskets). If some store closes my account, I can earn income from other shops $. I recommend this tactics. Alsdo for my ETSY shop I use my own domain address (I promote, I get traffic and the domain is famous). If some day Etsy closes my account, I still can forward my domain to another shop (from apyhip for example) and get sales, because the domain is mine .🙂
He’s right on point! I absolutely love Etsy as a customer, but reality is risky for sellers. The thought of building a business, and having it demolished and scrapped without explanation or an opportunity to make amends, is not worth it. As a business owners, we should be completely independent and in control to thrive and scale.
This happened to me too!!! I was selling dog harnesses that I make, someone complained ( another seller) saying that I did not make my products.but I do!!! Etsy didn’t care and shut me down!!! I was making about $3,000 a month. It’s hard going from $3,000 a month to zero!!!
That's ridiculous. How does ETSY know if you are or are not making your own product? How do they know that the person complaining is telling the truth? How can they shut you down based on this "alleged evidence" without a proper investigation? So Etsy will just sideline someone's business based on hearsay?
Incredible considering how many sellers I see on there who clearly steal t shirt designs from each other. A well known YT gal who is an expert on all these things has a video suggesting we make a unique design(duh) . She proves it by showing her success. Well sure, if you already have a following, you can do anything . I’m certain those vultures on Etsy would steal some nice work from a beginner and get sales cuz their site is established…. By stealing. They make me want to puke
The reason why I decided to start my own website is because I'm a small digital artist and although Etsy looks good they have too much control and you just get lost in the crowd. Glad I made the decision to invest in my own website it may take longer to get sales but at least its mine.
Don't quit your job right away when your business starts taking off - start putting aside 6-12 months of income for any situations such as this, so you have time without the money stress to go with a plan B, if anything happens to plan A.
@@The308side I got lucky with one of the first products I started selling, it was hot and original and I raked in about 7 grand within the first month. I decided to throw my job in and go all in. I didn't realise how many people would copy my exact product (hundreds of sellers), and my sales tanked. Then they watched my shop like a hawk and copied everything I did... it sucked after that.
Yes I was earning substantially well on Etsy before and they decided to close down my account abruptly I was really upset for some time but I get over it, started my platform and I’m glad to say I’d made a good decision because I’d succeeded once again
The greater the automated income you can build, the freer you will become. Taking the first step is the hardest, but 5 houses later living off automated income since July 6, 2020. You’ve got to start taking steps to achieve your goal.
No platform is easy. Never understands these RUclipsrs that claim such and such platforms are easy. There are people making money successfully on Etsy, on own website, on social media etc etc. But, each platform has its own cons. Selling on Etsy, you're competing with other sellers within the platform but still can be found on Google under Etsy brand (it can be good or bad), dealing with copycats; of course it's not easy. Selling on website, you're competing with all the shops and marketplaces on the internet, need to choose either for slower growth with organic ranking, or faster growth with expensive marketing strategies; still not easy. Selling on social media, you need to post content on top of creating product, gain followers and may not be suitable to those who don't like managing social media and be transparent with whatever they do in the backend to build "trust"; still not easy. Many people giving up because they believe it's easy to make money online. Choose one platform to start and just run with it, overcome all those obstacles, be patient, be persistent, educate yourself with no-fluff-no-bs videos, stop complaining.
No one will shut down your personally owned website and brand. Having a website is a lot of work too, just like keeping up with the competition on Etsy. But Why not use all that effort on your own personal website, for a more sustainable and long term business approach? There's work everywhere, so either you grind on your brand and have 100% control over your customer and profits, or grind on Etsy and be controlled by Etsy.🤷
U r right actually youtubers make this kind of video just to earn ads revenue lol i know making money online isnt easy but dun give up and u need to analyze why u r failed
@@Greenaura101 Thanks for the encouragement. I've failed many times but see some small success in what I'm doing right now and it's still in a growing phase. One of many things I learned from my past failures is never listen or believe fake gurus or RUclipsrs who don't earn from doing what they preach in their video contents. For example, if their video says "Earn $30k by selling AI Art", but those youtubers don't actually earn what they claimed and just show other shops' data, well that is bs. They only scratched on the surface and made it look easy to make money online quickly. Many ppl took these fake gurus "advices" and failed miserably, and called such and such platforms a scam.
Hey Jason, I have spotted a few of your videos but because your titles often discourage Etsy, I didn't view your videos... Until today. I am happy that I did, because this video is actually very enlightening and I am now subscribed. Keep up the good work and I will remain loyal. Thanks!
You don’t know how much you’ve motivated me into watching your videos and learning. I have been working for a few years in a restaurant but still struggling financially. Keep it up man
It's not just about suspending your shop, it's also about Etsy hiding your products and placing your competitors on your product's page as an option for the potential customers.
The open eyes video came as a turning point for me after my Etsy account got suspended without any explanation after I made 52 sales within a week. I tried finding a solution by sending emails to Etsy over the last 10 days, but to no avail. I felt helpless and was not sure what to do until the video guided me to start selling on my own website.
Glad you shared this info, I wanted to make an Etsy biz but been wary of price and competition. This right here, is bs. Screw Etsy, taking peoples livelihoods away
I get the platform risk, but Driving traffic to own website is extremely hard. You showed example of an already established youtube channel but starting from scratch with no content and no subscribers is going to take months. Plus not everyone has enough skills or time to scale up their youtube channel. Same thing goes for other social media accounts.
You aren't totally wrong but not withstanding that's actually going to take long all depending on your strategy an the type of value you pouring out we could work on that together if the chance be given to get you more traffic
Indded, get traffic is hard. Because search engines as Google take more than 9 months to add your links, and other search engines are not accepting anymore free submissions, etc. Everything is paid. I buy thousands of visits (traffic) at fiver, for 12$ a month, for example. Ebay also has good traffic services
I work as a virtual assistant for someone who operates several websites, including one on Etsy. I can confirm that your observation is accurate. In my personal experience, Etsy provides various ways to promote your products and more, whereas with a standalone website, you must consider numerous options to make yourself stand out. This also ties in closely with social media and marketing your products, among other aspects. It's certainly possible, but it can be time-consuming. Additionally, there are other factors to take into account. You would need to purchase a domain, set up a server, and establish various plugins and payment methods, which can incur additional costs. This stands in contrast to Etsy, where you typically pay around 25 cents every six months. I'm not suggesting that having your own website is a bad idea; in fact, it can be highly beneficial. However, it does require hard work and greater financial investment.
These are basic advices but you are correct. The downside is that one would need to spend more money and time for building website, awareness, etc. But the long-term benefits are big, if one continues and makes everything right.
Same Here . As a new seller and just self taught artist , making first sale was a dream come true. but BAM!! after first sale , shop suspended permanently without any reasons . Glad that i learnt my lesson early. whoever starting new - DO NOT SELL on ETSY! Edit as on 9.29 .... my shop was reinstated after sending 2 emails on top of the email i received after i submitted appeal. I received response after 3 weeks . And they said it was caught in some wrong process!!! I lost all the momentum in traffic which i got aftee my first sale !!!
Let me tell you a fun situation that happened to me. I have books about occult, esotericism, magick. Once ETSY tried to remove my listings. And I sent them emails telling that this was illegal, religious descrimination, etc. And they put my listings online again 🙂
I work as a Virtual Assistant for someone who sells on Etsy. This means I have been managing and taking care of their account for many years, since Etsy first started. Recently, it seems that Etsy has become stricter compared to how it used to be. For example, about two months ago, I received an email notifying me that they had deactivated some listings due to policy violations. However, they never provided clear information about where the mistakes were made. This led to a back-and-forth exchange for about a week until the communication stopped. As far as I know, Etsy also employs an automated program that can detect whether listings comply with their policies or not. I would say its not bad but there are some risk to consider.
Yes yes! They took down half my listings after 10 years of selling the products! Took months to get a response, they told me my products that contained powdered neem were against their policy. What a mess, I’m totally at their mercy! Thank you for this video!
Thanks for sharing your perspective Jason. This is one of the most practical, realistic truths about the eCommerce world. Truth is BOSS and I certainly appreciate it! I'm getting ready to launch my own ecommerce/online businesses and my mindset, as yours -- "no marketplace enslavement". Again, thanks TONS bro! Continued success and abundance always!
Hi Jason, was seeking inspiration for unique business ideas and stumbled across your cards video, and ended up watching some of your other videos and subscribing to your channel. Really appreciate your different thinking, no time wasting content and humble screen presence. Keep up the outstanding work. Top man.
Thank you so much for this! I was about to set up an Etsy Shop when I came across your content, and I am so glad I did. Your cheatsheet is super helpful. Thank you again for providing this info.
😲 Wow I had no idea this is going on. Thanks so much for informing people. It should be some federal/international oversight committee that regulates companies that have these types of practices and levy serious fines against them.
Thanks for making this video. I wasn't sure if I should start with my own website or Etsy. I will use Etsy solely as a marketing tool to bring awareness to my brand and collect emails. I will make my own website. Thanks again. I'm going to watch your videos.
Watching your video really helped me get my sht together in terms of my goals! Im a web developer but due to medical issues its hard to work on a company full time, so my skills are pretty bad to decent at best, yet I thought selling templates on etsy is a good way to hold myself? NO, Im a web developer! I can create my own website and bring more sales, it will also help me on my portfolio to make a website that sells things! This video might give good tips, but it actually helped me a lot on having a bigger insight on whats going on and were I need to aim instead of relying on some dummy website like Etsy. Thanks a lot, I really needed this! Let me work things out and see if Im able to share some progress in the next 2-3months.
Thank you, I needed to hear this ! i don't know why some youtubers preaching about making tons of money on Etsy , which is not true in my experience! To much competition for digital products. Not saying also they banned me without even started which weird
I was getting great momentum with Etsy in less than a week and boom, suspended! I'm glad it happened quickly and I wasn't on that platform for too long. I'm sorry to hear about some of you who invested so much on there and lost a lot! But then again, things happen for a reason, I always say! Good luck to all in the future!!
I have no idea, They never told me. Up to this date it is still a mystery to me. I couldn't get a hold of no one from Etsy and they are still holding my earnings. Worse place to deal with when it comes to selling your goods!@@endgamefond
Your words are 100/100 correct and logical. These words are for those who do not want to wake up in a panic, their psyche will be shattered and their strength failing. If a person wants to devote his time and effort, let him devote it to something that belongs to him. Thank you very much for this kind initiative.
Great video. Thank you for addressing the fact that these platforms that are not under our control is a risky business model. I am researching woo commerce now to see if it will give me what I need.
Look at the videos that planner shop is posting. They are not just ads for their shop. They are giving free information and knowledge. That is an amazing way they have incorporated it into their product, before you even buy their item they are helping you.
I really like the way you explained it so well. I am really a beginner. I haven't listed any of my digital products yet. I was skeptical about Etsy then I saw your video. I wanted to learn from a different perspective. So, I agree with your advice. I'll start from Etsy then move on to my own website.
Hi Me too , a newbie and I have been preparing to launch my handmade and printed products online especially on Etsy. Have you started and how's it going? Thank you....
@@EllenAt-op8uz It's terrible. My store got banned the moment I listed my first product then I received an email explaining why they banned my store. But they were not very clear about it and gave a very vague reason. I tried to reach them but never got any reply. My store is still banned and my dream is completely ruined. I researched a little bit and found out that they're not very acceptable to shops from India. They prefer English-speaking countries, so, if you're from an English-speaking country. You have a high chance of acceptance. Good luck to you!
These are excellent points, from my own experience, Etsy can ruin life if you rely on it solely. Thanks for spreading awareness, all I can see today is hurray optimism regarding Etsy and other „passive income” ideas…we need some cold shower and more cold/realistic thinking like you provided.
Guys, building a website is not that hard nowadays 😂. Just save your TikTok time to learn something free from RUclips, or you have to keep paying your ignorance debt.
Yes! These websites that allow you to create one, makes it super easy with different lay outs to choose from. You just need to plug in your personal business information and you’re done.
for sure even I can do I choose Squarspace as an artist it was the best one. So much easier than 30 plus years ago. Also if you have your own e-commerce business it more tangible than an Etsy store like you actually have a business.
I just bought a gorgeous leather iPad cover. 70% off. My question was "why?" It is beautifully made. It is more beautiful than any you can buy anywhere else.

Thanks, Jason, for the great content and cheat sheet. I am thinking of selling mugs on Etsy and Shopify. Don't see many YT or Tiktok videos about mugs. I mean how do you make interesting videos on mugs? I am stumped. If I don't make videos, how do I market my store? I'll have to spend a lot of money on ads.

Really glad I came across this video and all your honest tips to help beginners wanting to start-up their business/side hustle. Wanting to do something as a side hustle or aspiring to make it a full-time has been on my mind with so many worries about how it's going to turn out and needed an honest truth instead of getting the message that make others sometimes get their hopes up only to increase the amount of disappointment and cause difficulty getting back up. At least I know this. And I'm sorry to those who lost their business due to Etsy. Appreciate this!
I am learning a great amount watching you from the information you've provided. I will begin to apply these lessons soon after mastering the techniques. I do have one suggestion for you when discussing application's, the word " problem " is mentioned often. I've found when most here the word problem mentioned people tend to stop listening. I've found when presenting a situation that's causing a issue that needs a salution tends to have better results.
I was planning to make an Etsy but I had the feeling I need to know more than what "how to use Etsy" videos tell me, thank God the I stumble upon your video. This is very helpful. Thank you so much.
I watched your video on creating my own Tarot deck. This is a great idea for me as I am about to start an online fortune telling business. Thank you for the insight!
So you already know how successful it will be. I hope your business does not close down due to unforeseen circumstances. Another fortune telling scammer. But hey, there are many gullible fuckwits out there so good luck fleecing them.
I do agree with you that selling on Etsy you have no control and your listings and account could get deactivated overnight. I fully agree on that. But I started with my own website. I moved to Etsy because there were just too many things to worry about and I was not focused on the products and selling. I needed to maintain my site, did advertising on Facebook and on other social platforms to generate traffic, worried about security and payment issues. There were just too many other things I needed to worry about and the cost piled up. No doubt I could build up an audience on social media but that's if you have a real niche and you would need to post stuff daily or make videos of some sort. I think I agree with you in the long run having your own website and building your audience is the ideal. But the disadvantage is it takes a long time while in the mean time you still have to pay the hosting cost of the website, maybe add security features which might cost you and do some advertising and search engine optimization etc to get to your eventual goal. For me yes there is a risk with Etsy but I compared the risk to the other risks and cost of having your own website and I ended up moving to Etsy. But with this comment I am not disagreeing with you. Your own website and building your own brand is way better but it does take a while to get there plus other costs.
At the first I thought he was trying to sell some apps and webs, but he’s total different. So honest and clear !!! I wish I could do more than just liking and subscribing 😢
One of the critical issue with Etsy is that it doesn't provide Etsy Payment option to sellers in many regions and their local payment providers such as Razorpay from India has stopped onboarding new sellers. Its been more than 6 months and we're still waiting for our payment gateway and hence there is no sales at all. Etsy doesn't give value to it's customers issues. Tried reaching many times but either same or no response. Etsy is only friendly to certain selected regions.
@@solinvictus5349 This is not the reason. Scammers are all around the world and not just in these countries. They form a significant part in Etsy volume but the reason is biased treatment and noncompliant of payment laws.
They should ban sellers from India. They copy pictures from genuine sellers and resell them on Etsy. I have warned so many of them because they we copying my pictures. Strange enough, no other country does that accept Indians. Shame
It’s the envy and greed of the competition that make the platform suffer. The competition doesn’t like to see you succeed. If you have a 5-star rating, you’re a target.
Tbh, if it's difficult having great numbers on Etsy, achieving these numbers in many Social Medias while having another job and no budget is basically impossible in 6 months. That brand is like the top 1% sells tier. Should be more useful if you show a more realistic scenario, and specially the way to achieve the first sales.
Thank you Jason. Great video, out of 100 videos I’ve seen about etsy and how to put up a shop and everything, absolutely nobody explains this kind of risks y they made it sound too good to be true Thanks for the info, really
I've been a seller on Etsy for 10 years or so and there are multiple problems on that platform. I still have my account but I no longer actively sell there.
That's unfortunate. As a 4-5 year power seller on Ebay it became too much. I was a one person show not a corporation selling on Ebay. This structured program was nearly impossible to keep and maintain but you were also under complete control of Ebay buyers and they can be completely unrealistic in their purchases. It appears that Etsy is doing the same thing now and making it more about the buyers and less about what made them to start with the sellers.
all absolutely true. I started focusing more on my own website because you just cant trust that your etsy shop will always be there. Not to mention all the constant changes they make that also seems to affect shops!
I agree completely but can You please also make a video how to start a website without having etsy or youtube or instagram For example, i am an artist and i make illustrations, and i am willing to make a product from them. Let’s say i have a website and i also did everything for shipping and product making. How am i going to make sales? I am struggling to grow my instagram, i really don’t get how the algorithm works Thanks in advance
I’ve been on ETSY 2 months just selling about 70 physical products. I’ve enjoyed working out how to do it. Set my Instagram and Tiktok up too! I’m definitely going to set up my own website as well. Could you let me know which physical website platform is best for UK and works sales. I’m UK based. Thanks for your content.
Thank you so much for your advices. I'm planning to do account through etsy. But after this video i should rethink about my plan. You are totally right. If there's a business, that mean you should have the control of it even with mistakes, it's much better than make others control your life and business. Thank you sir for this valuable video.
Thank you so much for the advice. My account got shut down several months without any explanation. Fortunately I just started it so not much lost. Maybe it's good thing so I won't waste too much of my time on it. Yes, Don't Put All your Eggs in One Basket!
Problem with Etsy now is bunch of people after 10 minutes video in style "add listing and make 10k$/day, no skils required, no basic marketing knowledge, no... Brain"... Product quality is terrible, math skill is so low that most ofert is under Etsy fees. It doesn't matter where, but how and what you are selling.
I have to agree. I was watching a video on Etsy and they are cracking down on people not making their own items. Finding a template and simply having shirts or other things printed with said image from an outsourcer does not constitute a hand made item. It's actually this type of selling that has ruined Etsy's draw for many real artists. They can not compete with ai and they shouldn't have to. Nothing artistic with ai generated content.
@@jasonleefinance Yes this video has helped. But I have still not received the Cheat Sheet, even though I had clicked on the link and had submitted my name and email ID some two days back. I have done the same today again

Your absolute right in that all the 10 min videos say how easy it is to sell on etsy yet instead of making stores their making youtube videos on stores???? I do however think etsy is another organic site where people would be able 5o find your main site. No one platform is safe, even if u make a store it will take time for any search enginges algorithms to rank it

Etsy got shut down with NO warning and NO response from etsy and it was 90% of my income... then rent went up $400 without warning so we couldn't renew. Had to move waaaayyyy out of town to room with friends. Got rid of half our belongings... the domino effect has been absolutely devastating
I am praying for you, dont give up.
Damn sorry to hear that
So sorry, I hope things get better for you
thank you all so much for your kind words!
It's just keep learning + applying it practically as a business then if not one subject you will get somewhere at least as a business and succeed.
@@annelieseharrison9027 Any suggestions?
I honestly thought this video would be a click-baity waste of time, turns out it was solid advice and made me rethink how I approach selling.

She appears to be well-educated and well-read. I ran an online search on her name and came across her website; thank you for sharing.

Damn that's f*cked up. Don't worry you will find something new and better! Maybe starting RUclips? 😊
@@oniricmediayeah all social media and online digital platforms have been targeting individuals based on personal ideologies
What were you selling? Something with famous characters or famous phrases?
Can you help us understand what happened?
He’s right on point! I absolutely love Etsy as a customer, but reality is risky for sellers. The thought of building a business, and having it demolished and scrapped without explanation or an opportunity to make amends, is not worth it. As a business owners, we should be completely independent and in control to thrive and scale.
Does Etsy penalize the Successful by booting them for no good reason?
Yes Etsy there is jealousy on there.
Definitely!!!ypu do the work. Shows they seem up to nogood
NEVER put all of your eggs in one basket. More relevant now than ever before.
This happened to me too!!! I was selling dog harnesses that I make, someone complained ( another seller) saying that I did not make my products.but I do!!! Etsy didn’t care and shut me down!!! I was making about $3,000 a month. It’s hard going from $3,000 a month to zero!!!
Hopefully ur back at it
That's ridiculous. How does ETSY know if you are or are not making your own product? How do they know that the person complaining is telling the truth? How can they shut you down based on this "alleged evidence" without a proper investigation? So Etsy will just sideline someone's business based on hearsay?
damn haters! hopefully u have your own independent website. haters can't shut u down from there.
@@MrMajikman1 For Etsy you are guilty until proven innocent because that is cheaper than risking legal fees.

His point is BEWARE! Etsy can shutdown your shop.
And for older folks like me that were not born after the digital era, even harder.

It's not just about suspending your shop, it's also about Etsy hiding your products and placing your competitors on your product's page as an option for the potential customers.
That works both ways and is not a bad thing. You are on a marketplace. Amazon does the same thing. Of course you can see other products. LOL
Even as a customer this is so frustrating. I should be able to look in a shop without another shop paying to snipe the sale.

Yeah I changed my mind now
I get the platform risk, but Driving traffic to own website is extremely hard.
You showed example of an already established youtube channel but starting from scratch with no content and no subscribers is going to take months. Plus not everyone has enough skills or time to scale up their youtube channel. Same thing goes for other social media accounts.
Starting from scratch on Etsy also takes months.
@@japaras no it doesn't. not for bringing users to your site.

Maybe bc some countries have higher rates of scammers than others

If he wants views he can't say well it could take years..... Well he could but with RUclips truth tends not to be flashy.
Thank you Jason. Valuable video for a guy that loved making art & is now exploring ways to make money online without being vulnerable to a competitive marketplace or desire for validation/ personal publicity. I'll be keeping your Creator Academy Course in the back of my mind as I continue to scour the internet & gather information on the topic
Thanks Reece :)
Thanks for the video Jason. My biggest takeaway was to get people invested in you as a creator.
Very practical advice. I'm subscribing and getting notifications. Thanks dude. 😎
He project the 3 struggles of new store owner so easily this guy is def legit wonderful video ill make sure to follow your trick.
Love that backdrop Jason, the lamp and popplant to the side 😂 Love your sense of humour mate 😂 Love your content and I LOVE Asian ppl ALWAYS HAVE. ESPECIALLY the Chinese Korean and Japanese. Love love love Asian ppl ❤️❤️❤️😇
No matter what platform you use to make money you should always use other platforms just in case one goes away
Thank you for your sharing, At first I thought I would sell my work on this website. But I'll make a new plan. It's probably best to start by myself.
Greetings Jason! I just got your cheat sheet via email and so far it sounds easy to do but life changing! Thank you very much!
Shut down on Amazon it was lucrative online garden store way back when. Still trying to find a way back, this time with no inventory 🎉 thank you for the knowledge
Your videos are an inspiration to new online business start ups. Thanks so much
Great video, out of 100 videos I’ve seen about etsy and how to put up a shop and everything, absolutely nobody explains this kind of risks y they made it sound too good to be true
Thanks for the info, really
Not to mention all the constant changes they make that also seems to affect shops!
love your videos jason. very pratical and easy. thanks for helping.
started watching one video and could'nt stop.
Great video! It’s the old “eggs in one basket “ saying- Etsy is one of many ways to sell your products
I agree completely but can You please also make a video how to start a website without having etsy or youtube or instagram
For example, i am an artist and i make illustrations, and i am willing to make a product from them. Let’s say i have a website and i also did everything for shipping and product making.
How am i going to make sales? I am struggling to grow my instagram, i really don’t get how the algorithm works
Thanks in advance
One of the rare videos on RUclips that is laced with facts, greetings from Turkiye
Any luck?
Thank you so much for your advices. I'm planning to do account through etsy. But after this video i should rethink about my plan. You are totally right. If there's a business, that mean you should have the control of it even with mistakes, it's much better than make others control your life and business. Thank you sir for this valuable video.
Great practical and solid advice, Jason! THIS is why you have my sub- thanks for the video :D
Thank you Zedrie!
Thank you so much for the advice. My account got shut down several months without any explanation. Fortunately I just started it so not much lost. Maybe it's good thing so I won't waste too much of my time on it. Yes, Don't Put All your Eggs in One Basket!
may i ask what you were selling?
Thanks man ! Awesome advice . Saved a lot of people from a really bad situation they may not have seen coming
I had been warned about Etsy earlier too. But no other video has given the truth in this manner.
I hope this helps :)
@@jasonleefinance Yes this video has helped. But I have still not received the Cheat Sheet, even though I had clicked on the link and had submitted my name and email ID some two days back. I have done the same today again
@JasonLee4... Thank you, but I don't have Telegram account
were you magged by Etsy at 3:00 a.m. after you partied with your friends?
Very informative, Thankyou! Can you load a video on how to build a solid business…??? Pls
thank you for the tips, I opened a shop on Etsy for 2 years. Just started selling stuff on July 3rd. On the 4th day, it's banned. Very confused.
You're proving my point! Did you contact Etsy to get it unbanned?
Simplest Thing I can say is Thank You, You helped me tremendously with this one video
You made some good points, so I downloaded your cheat sheet out of curiosity. Unfortunately, instead of a cheat sheet for building an e-commerce website which is what your video is about, I received a cheat sheet on how to build an affiliate marketing website. Is the wrong document linked above? Thanks.
and i wasnt sent anything :/
Same ... no reply to me either from your sign up form.
No. Thats what it is. Aff marketing is harder.
@JasonLee4..... this is the oonly answer i get from him when i ask questions on his tutorials..I don't think he is the owner of these tutorials..
Exactly! Regardless of which platform you use, you are not in control of your own destiny, life, or future... Sad.
Thank you very much for providing honest and truthful information.
Thank you for the information sharing, Jason. You're very humble and sincere. You helped others, the Almighty will help you back.
Your absolute right in that all the 10 min videos say how easy it is to sell on etsy yet instead of making stores their making youtube videos on stores???? I do however think etsy is another organic site where people would be able 5o find your main site. No one platform is safe, even if u make a store it will take time for any search enginges algorithms to rank it
can we share our website on etsy..?
Yes, that's absolutely right!
@JasonLee Thank you for this video. I'm looking for an online sales side gig and this has turned my gaze from Etsy. Keep up the great videos please!
So basically don’t JUST sell on Etsy, do waaaay more and build on every social media platform?!
I think its best to start on etsy and then create a website and build from there. He could have totally said it could be a starter for beginners
