Amazing timing! I went down the rabbit hole of researching these just a few weeks ago and then fell directly into another rabbit hole of aquiring various disposable camera bodies from my local developer and fitting them into 3d printed housing, which has been a TON of fun to tinker with. I’ve found an amazing model on printables that allows screwing/unscrewing the lens to adjust the minimum focus distance as needed. I’ve so far made one out of a Kodak PowerFlash (suprisingly has a two element lens!), a Kodak FunSaver, and 2 different Fuji QuickSnaps (one has a cracked lens and suprisingly is my favorite as it adds a funky lightleak vibe)
Meh. I guess if you lose your lens cap you might as well get one of these instead. Might come in handy. But if I need to take a quick snap and my camera isn't ready with a lens, I'll just whip out my phone.
Thank you so much for making this. I bought an Oreo for my A6700 and I love every single photo. This review is correct, the technical quality is awful, the build quality isn't spectacular (I've got a golden hair in mine trapped between the lenses) but it's so fun to shoot with. Composition is everything (it's the only thing), chromatic aberration and vignetting are features not bugs, and the images are some of the best I've ever taken.
I do have the not great 20mm SEL on my A6400 and it is nice to have a simple walk around lens. Honestly though, I just use my phone more and more as for most casual shots it is more than capable
The Girl Scouts need you as their spokesperson. You almost convinced me, but I get almost the same user experience but much better IQ from my Astrhori 14mm fixed 5.6, and I can at least focus that. Plus it’s a super-wide-angled perspective and (almost) as dirt cheap.
And the Two Hands menu shot was great! That is a really nice little restaurant that you have to try the hash browns. It will look like a round piece of ordinary hash browns, but you will be Amazed!
@@ArthurR You are doing well! A lot of years of uploading videos, not sure how you do it. I'm crashing hard at less that 1/2 of the time. Mark told me about what a blast the Sony thing was, sounds like a great little group you guys have going.
Kindy dreamy look. I like that. As you say it's not all the expensive gear, it's the composition made by the person behind the camera. You can have a camera for 1000 bucks, but still take bad pictures. Hope you know what i mean 😎
Looks interesting. I've ditched my smartphone camera and threw my a6400 with kit lens in my bag for just this reason. My settings are all on the most auto of auto shooting options, to prioritize speed and fun. Most of the time I actually take photos, I'm more interested in capturing the experience with my family than getting the 'perfect shot', and fumbling with settings degrades the experience for everyone. If I really need to take my time and get good photo/video, well that's what the FX30 and Sigma lenses are for. I think lenses like this Oreo are a great option!
Love your older content on the Sony A6x series from a few years ago, but please. Please don't follow the herd and start releasing reviews of the same new camera products like the other you tubers do, your custom content in the past is how you become different in this moshpit. Love your work!
Ironically, if you like this look it looks almost exactly like the iPhone 16 footage. Honestly, the iPhone's footage is probably a little bit better but it's very easy to get this kind of look. This is only if you shoot in Log ofcourse, otherwise it looks like I phone footage.
To get fun I use film lens ,turn off evf and the screen.. open it just to stting shutter speed and iso..then i need to mastering angle of view of the lens..view all photos i take that day when i get home.. Im sure This oreo lens have lot of fun ..
If you really want a simple lens set up that brings you back to the basics? Buy a cheap vintage lens like a Pentacon 50 f1.8 and m42 adapter from china. It will give a vintage look with MF and Apertures for about $30usd.
I second this opinion, as I’ve recently been given some old lenses from a family member, and it’s been great! However, I don’t think there’s any way of doing this and having auto-focus. But yeah, the larger aperture is much nicer than an f10!
@@swr410 Right. Put AF when it was supposed to be MF. But using MF vintage lenses is a blast and honestly if you want to master Manual photography, a old lens will teach you so much.
Perfectly valid, but really not the same goal as this. This is specifically aimed at capturing the disposable camera look. I use my cheap vintage glass adapted onto my mirrorless and it’s great, but it’s not the same
Dirt cheap lens! Great for anyone starting out. I got the 7artisans 18mm which is a step up. Pancake lenses makes shooting so much simpler and portable.
So if Canon sells a high quality lens for Leica money, it is an expensive lens. And if they sell a cheap lens, it is a pos. But if it is an oreo lens…. No thanks. Ill use a fatty finger after eating a burger on my TTartisan 35mm F0.95 instead.
And why do we need this? Because they don't make halfway decent point-n-shoot digital cameras anymore. But $26 for the lens and $1000 for a camera ... uh ... Yeah people are going to just use their phones. If you already have the camera you don't need to buy this lens, just learn how to use the camera.
….wait…it’s not April 1st is it? First I wouldn’t want to take pictures with a fake looking oreo on my camera. Second why go through all this hassle and losing $26 of my hard earned money and not just use a kit lens if I want mediocre to crummy quality? I could just use my iPhone.
Yes! I would rather have a good meal or buy a spare battery. It's the type of lens I would never use. This is more like a toy for kids because it's funny or something.

Got one and love it. Zero settings + LoFi look = FUN!
It's even better on full-frame, the pincushioning gets extra wild 🍰
Thanks, I bought one and I don't regret 😊

This video is also therapeutic.
It makes 7Artisans' UFO clock lens look stylish by comparison! I hope they make a Fudgee-o version
A full lineup of COOKIE LENSES?! Genius.
I recognized the River Walk in San Antonio in the opening montage. A photographer could spend a lifetime there and never get the same shot twice.
I do have the not great 20mm SEL on my A6400 and it is nice to have a simple walk around lens.

1:00 "And there's beauty in simplicity" - proceeds to show a Porsche 911 💀

Could be fun with parties on my old nex 6. Put the camera down to be shared whomever wants to take pictures.
Is it weather-sealed?
I LOVE that thumbnail! Clever concept and looks great too.
Haha appreciate it, Mark! Ive been talking to the other Mark (Bennett) and getting inspired/motivated.

100% spot on.
Looked like fun to me! But I'm not a serious photographer and enjoy my hobby! Keep up the great work, Arthur.
This thing is dangerous, I'd probably forget its a lens and try to eat it ;)

it’s fun to create with less- it exercises different creative muscles. lf its fun, do it!
I think phones took away the casuals that wanted quick, good looking, sharp pictures. Today photography is a more artistic hobby in 2024
I would say that is a vacation lens from the conventional professional lens .

Arthur you could sell freezers to an Eskimo 😊
😊 crazy, but cool
Interesting and novel.
Imagine using this lens. Taking one of the greatest compositions of your entire life and it was taken with this lens? It would haunt you.
Sounds freeing
Ascending from the pancake to the oreo.
The link is not working:( where can I get one
Heres the link on Amazon: geni.us/nzWBhmg
What country are you in? Might not work in certain areas.
i own 1 lens in the past 5 years is kinda terrible, but its usable and i know how to extract the most out of it.
My terrible lens is the Fujian 35mm f/1.7 CCTV lens.
The one that started it all! That is a classic.
The fujian isn't even that terrible, is quite a nice lens compared to this oreo thing
Dirt cheap lens! Great for anyone starting out. I got the 7artisans 18mm which is a step up. Pancake lenses makes shooting so much simpler and portable.
Why would I NEED a terrible lens?
Try it. It's like photography therapy.
That's..feel.... like an.. magic film

The TTartisan is a great choice, but its 8x the price!

lol
And immediately it's sold out! ;)
lol just get a 15 year old smartphone camera
Not even remotely the same…
Why does this piece of plastic cost a whole $26?? It should cost $1.5 at most
No thanks 🤢
….wait…it’s not April 1st is it?

Why not just use your phone to take pictures. Much smaller and with me every time
I would rather spend my money on something more useful. It's still money, and this is no lens.
Nope not interested in this one.
Pics look terrible with that lens. Blurry as eff.
Wow- it’s almost like that’s the entire point 🤯
2:31 Ew. No thanks. Hard pass. :P
