My grandparents were from Gujranwala (currently in Pakistan). Their story of partition was eye-opening. My grandmother had dementia towards the end of her life, she would forget everyone's name. But, if you ask about her journey during the partition, she would tell you every single detail. She remembered what she cooked that day, how the events unfolded, every village they stopped and found refuge. What happened during partition was a nightmare and I do not wish that upon anyone or any nation. I hope that time proves us wrong and unity prevails.

Hearing your narration of the events took place during partition, for a moment I literally picturised myself in that situation and cried at the thought of our country's division. We couldn't imagine the pain and suffering people went through during partition. Hope we learn something from the history and do not make a mistake of repeating it.

As a Pakistani I truly believe that partition was completely avoidable if people of that time learn to live with peace with each other. So many innocent lives lost, million displaced just because they cannot live and accept each other with open heart. That hatred is still fueled for political gains on both sides of the border. That hate and "khatra" factor is still used to justify violence, and hide our own flaws.

Great episode as usual bro. Savarkar was not the first proponent of Two Nation Theory. It was first written by founder of AMU in his book in late 1880s. Savarkar and obviously Jinnah definitely encouraged it since 1920s though. One poor aspect of teaching Indian history in schools though is that these factors leading to the partition, it's ill-conceived nature and the large scale violence are not given due importance. Teaching about partition in the right way can actually condition kids to think in the correct direction & preventing them from falling prey to communal forces (atleast some of them). As for Muslims in India today, everyone who lived in India after 1947 are citizens of India and have equal rights as everyone else. If they commit crimes, punish them in due accordance with the law, and not bulldozer, which has unfortunately bulldozed the constitution itself (alongwith some other draconian policies) and turned India into a fascist country.

There is a Hindu grandfather somewhere who saw his friend get beheaded by muslims and a Muslim grandfather somewhere who saw his wife get raped by a Hindu. It's honestly difficult to explain to them the concept of communal harmony. The trauma that they suffered can never be erased. It has been passed down the generations, thereafter creating generational hate towards the other sect.

Not a single ancient Hindu or buddhist temple was left in northern India. Every ancient Hindu structure was razed or turned into Mosque 40,000 of ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples are now mosques. Uttar Pradesh had a history of Temples and idols being desecrated by muslims that's why they have grills to protect even the shivling. Then they started slaughtering cows and throwing their heads inside temple compound. This thing still goes on in Haryana and UP villages. Where is the thousand years of co-existence dude ?

I used to think that, but one community doesn't want peace. And I realised it the hard way. It's sad but true. Hindus/buddhists/jains/parsis and Sikhs are living peacefully but it all went to shit when islam came. Peace can only be maintained when muslim community is afraid of law

Gandhi encouraged radicalism among Muslims, when Muslims came out with a book to insult Sita naming Sita ka chinaala, the Hindus came out with Rangeela rasool (while Quran and hadith affirm life of Mohammed) he kept quiet on Hindu Gods being insulted but protested when Hindus came out with books against Mohammed. This double faced policy and hypocrisy was legitimized by congress even today where Muslims are appeased and Hindus punished for reacting. 2. Gandhi supported khilafat movement against British which was an armed revolt against British which protested decimation of Turkey’s caliphate reminding Muslims that their religious issues are more important than their daily issues in their own country. He went to the extent of asking hindu women to commit suicide in the face of Muslim mass rapping women instead of insisting on providing security to Hindus. 6. Even after partition was already underway he Kept on stopping Muslims fe going to Pakistan, even those radical Muslims who were rioting in india and who had criminal history (mewat Muslims). 7. He demanded Pakistan be given 55 crores inspite of Indian government knowing that Pakistan is about to attack india with respect to Kashmir. Pastel’s counsel to Gandhi didn’t work. 8. He imposed Nehru on india who lost to Patel ina democratic election and Nehru as Gandhi’s chela imposed the pseudo secularism on india where all the civility is expected of Hindus and none in Muslims and the effects are still seen today

My grandparents were from Gujranwala (currently in Pakistan). Their story of partition was eye-opening. My grandmother had dementia towards the end of her life, she would forget everyone's name. But, if you ask about her journey during the partition, she would tell you every single detail. She remembered what she cooked that day, how the events unfolded, every village they stopped and found refuge. What happened during partition was a nightmare and I do not wish that upon anyone or any nation. I hope that time proves us wrong and unity prevails.

As a Pakistani I truly believe that partition was completely avoidable if people of that time learn to live with peace with each other. So many innocent lives lost, million displaced just because they cannot live and accept each other with open heart. That hatred is still fueled for political gains on both sides of the border. That hate and "khatra" factor is still used to justify violence, and hide our own flaws.

Great episode as usual bro. Savarkar was not the first proponent of Two Nation Theory. It was first written by founder of AMU in his book in late 1880s. Savarkar and obviously Jinnah definitely encouraged it since 1920s though.
One poor aspect of teaching Indian history in schools though is that these factors leading to the partition, it's ill-conceived nature and the large scale violence are not given due importance. Teaching about partition in the right way can actually condition kids to think in the correct direction & preventing them from falling prey to communal forces (atleast some of them).
As for Muslims in India today, everyone who lived in India after 1947 are citizens of India and have equal rights as everyone else. If they commit crimes, punish them in due accordance with the law, and not bulldozer, which has unfortunately bulldozed the constitution itself (alongwith some other draconian policies) and turned India into a fascist country.

1. Gandhi encouraged radicalism among Muslims, when Muslims came out with a book to insult Sita naming Sita ka chinaala, the Hindus came out with Rangeela rasool (while Quran and hadith affirm life of Mohammed) he kept quiet on Hindu Gods being insulted but protested when Hindus came out with books against Mohammed. This double faced policy and hypocrisy was legitimized by congress even today where Muslims are appeased and Hindus punished for reacting.
2. Gandhi supported khilafat movement against British which was an armed revolt against British which protested decimation of Turkey’s caliphate reminding Muslims that their religious issues are more important than their daily issues in their own country. This led to moplah riots and killing of Hindus but Gandhi never protested openly for fear of Losing Muslim support. This led to Muslim consciousness and belief that Muslims are seperate and u unique nation which strengthened Muslim league even more.
3.Agreed for seperate Muslim electorate where Muslim MPs will be chosen by Muslims only, the. Led to near inevitability of either a seperate Muslim state or Muslim nation within a nation.
4. When riots broke out on the eve direct action day in Kolkata and navkali, he remained silent as Hindus were targets and acted only when Hindus reacted in Bihar and other Hindu majority areas.
5. He went to the extent of asking hindu women to commit suicide in the face of Muslim mass rapping women instead of insisting on providing security to Hindus.
6. Even after partition was already underway he Kept on stopping Muslims fe going to Pakistan, even those radical Muslims who were rioting in india and who had criminal history (mewat Muslims).
7. He demanded Pakistan be given 55 crores inspite of Indian government knowing that Pakistan is about to attack india with respect to Kashmir. Pastel’s counsel to Gandhi didn’t work.
8. He imposed Nehru on india who lost to Patel ina democratic election and Nehru as Gandhi’s chela imposed the pseudo secularism on india where all the civility is expected of Hindus and none in Muslims and the effects are still seen today
