Guitar At Work it’s my pleasure and I joined your Patreon because actions speak louder than words!! Ps I lived in Nova Scotia for many years before returning to the US. Canada is special to me.
I am a huge fan of the way you teach. I can pick up what you're putting down very easily. You get right into the heart with zero waste of time or words. Fantastic channel so far brother.
Thank you for posting this lesson. It is, without doubt, the best, concise and most articulate lesson I have seen for a long long time. Truly a benchmark for YT tutorials.
Once again you nailed it. My brother(a much better drummer than I am a guitar player) loves this song and stays after me to play it. So going out to him tomorrow in Bakersfield at an open mic at the Rustic Rail. Sure wish he was with me on stage. Kinda lonely by myself, but I'll do well thanks to this lesson and a good soundman.
Musically , Beckley has said it was inspired by Harrison’s sweet lord, and it was produced by George Martin, but lyrically he was writing how he thought Jackson Brown would write. Just some FYI.
I always suggest to all the lessons that if they finish with playing once all the way through with vocal cues it ties all the bit's together and it's rewarding to see if I can keep up. Thanks for a well done lesson.
Probably not the best comment on Easter, but the guys in America are like Gods to me. You and your lessons get me close to them, like Icarus with his wax wings, you make me feel like i can touch the sun. Fortunately, i don’t have to worry about plummeting to earth, but i do need to ice my digits! Thanks Shane!
Thanks for the great lesson! I have always felt that Sister Golden Hair is one of a handful of songs that I need to play if I’m going to call myself an acoustic rhythm guitar player. I’m getting close, and your lesson helps!
wonderful way of teaching - ur voice, tempo, method, and technique. i subscribed. maybe play the complete song at the very end of your videos to hear how it's really done! ur an amazing guitar player! thanks man.
I subbed!! You have a very thorough easy to follow instruction style, respect man! Love America "the band" and of course our country lol, thank you for this lesson.. Wana start a band? LOL! KEEP'M COMIN VIRTUOSO!!
Truly a vintage and timeless guitar song and as always you have the knack to teach it !!! Could you do a tutorial on Peaceful Easy Feeling by the Eagles ? Thanks and Happy Easter!
I learned to strum better and actually tried to sing out loud for the first time in my 67 years with Peaceful.. show us how it's done! You're a d*** good instructor, one of the best on youtube. @@GuitarAtWork
Fantastic song. A real barre chord challenge. Should have them nailed after this one! Can’t wait for the play along video! Thanks for another top notch lesson!! Happy Easter!
For me, there's always an excellent takeaway in each and every one of your lessons. Today, the "incidental fingering" (of the E chord) was more of a confirmation that some incidental fingering is fine. That's actually how I've always played the E chord, but rarely see anyone utilizing it. So, thank you for the "okay" to get it how it works for me Shane.
LOL. Makes me feel OK also. Much like a tennis player whose father insisted she backhand the proper way and finally gave up. She started doing it the way that was natural to her. She became know as the meanest backhand in tennis. I do my A chord a bit different than normal with my fat fingers.
I really like the way you teach, GREAT demeanor! Spend just enough time per segment (you know we can always rewind)..Personally dont need the strum pattern but I realize others do.. Ill be back for more!
Great song, great lesson, it’s good for me as it will really stretch what I know and what I need to learn, both the strumming and all those barre chords. Should keep me busy for a while. Also, working on the Lead Guitar stuff and while I have a lot of work still to get better at, really looking forward to more in the series.
Thank you very much Shane for that lesson it helped a lot !! If you have a chance I would like it very much if you could teach us The Last Resort by the Eagles. Thanks again
what kind of guitar is this? im looking for one and loved the sound of yours? also if you have any recommendations on a beginners guitar for a shorter girl? loved the video!!
Thank you ruschdog - I'm playing a Taylor 814CE in the video. Lovely guitar. For smaller people you might like a parlour size guitar. Or a Taylor GS Mini - fabulous! Shane
anyone find a tutorial for the slide player's part that's as thorough as this one? The lead line is easy enough to earball, but the cool arpeggiated parts are a tad buried and I'm lazy enough to ask for it before working them out for myself-
This song literally taught me barre chords! (Ouch) But now I'm there. There's a recording of them playing it where the first C#m is a barre chord at fret 9, but I'm working on Shane's way! (at ruclips.net/video/3oNULFXLuMc/видео.html)
Thanks for Making America Great Again.
Ha! Thanks Karen - that's fabulous! Shane
I don't know how anyone can make a better lesson. Thank you Shane and your kind personality is a pleasure to watch.
Thank you Sean - what a great comment to receive. Really makes my day. Very glad to have you here with us!

A big thank you Gareth - very encouraging to receive a comment like yours. My best to you and glad to have you here with us. Cheers! Shane
This song is the only reason I took up guitar 5 years ago.... Lots of barre chords. It took me about 6 weeks. Your lessons make sense.
Thank you Randy - I really appreciate that. Glad to have you with us!
Shane
Stellar lesson Shane! The articulate strumming adds a WHOLE different dimension to it for sure. Rock on!
Thanks for that - glad you enjoyed! Shane
Such a beautiful Song, awesome Band and great lesson! THANK YOU SHANE!

Fabulous - you’ll be great Daniel! Shane
Shane never heard this song before, now I'm in love with it many thanks!
This song was inspired by George Harrison’s my sweet lord. You can definitely hear that especially when the slide guitar comes in
Didn't know that MrBuc - thanks!
Shane
Musically , Beckley has said it was inspired by Harrison’s sweet lord, and it was produced by George Martin, but lyrically he was writing how he thought Jackson Brown would write. Just some FYI.
Beat me to it
Was playing the slide part before this video and thought about how it reminds me of Harrison. Couldn't agree more.
@Cory Britton I’m not suggesting it was “ lifted” I’m reporting what was said by a member of “ America” about the song
My favorite America song ever!
It's a great one for sure Eds - hope you have fun with it!

Really enjoying this one as I'm a beginner. Need to work on my posture and keep at it. Really appreciate your efforts Shane.

Great song Shane! I’m going to take the guitar to in a cabin in the woods and not come out until I can play barre chords - I may be some time...
Thanks Nick - this one will help with those barre chords for sure - I love the cabin in the woods idea!
Shane
Depending on the woods and the cabin - that stay could be a good or a bad thing!! :-)

Love your work. Christmas time is rapidly approaching. Would it be possible for you to do a lesson on Tom Petty's "Christmas All Over Again?"
Thank you Shawn - much appreciated - great suggestion - Happy New Year!
Shane
Thanks Shane. Another great lesson. Although I didn't know the song myself. Maybe someday you could do Doobie Brothers "LONG TRAIN RUNNING"?
Thank you Rick - that's a great suggestion - cheers!
Shane
I know this is how they played it on the record but a little tricky to play all the barre chords if you're singing along
Have to ask. What strings are you running? I know your amped but they sound good.
Great lesson Sean but still way to advanced for me. But at least I can see how it's done. Thanks.
Thank you Steve - keep at it and enjoy the process!

what kind of guitar is this? im looking for one and loved the sound of yours? also if you have any recommendations on a beginners guitar for a shorter girl? loved the video!!

It looks like you never got around to the Play-along. Not that I could find in your catalogue anyway.

Hi Dale - it would be fun to do those for sure - I'll try to work them out at some point. Cheers,

Would love to know the bass guitar on the verse. Reminds me of Paul McCartney.
It's great for sure George - hope you are enjoying it!

This song uses ALL the chords.
This song literally taught me barre chords! (Ouch) But now I'm there. There's a recording of them playing it where the first C#m is a barre chord at fret 9, but I'm working on Shane's way! (at ruclips.net/video/3oNULFXLuMc/видео.html)
Only one problem here..@13:02 he goes from C#m to B. That is incorrect.
