- The Golden Age of Hollywood was glamorous but, unfortunately, not all of its beautiful facets bode well for all who lived in the era. Anna May Wong is the epitome of 1920s Hollywood glamour, however, among old Hollywood actresses, she was not treated as a leading lady.
The story of Anna May Wong is the story of a woman who consistently enchanted audiences, but who also had to consistently prove her worth to old Hollywood.
Additionally, yellowface in Hollywood was pervasive, and miscegenation laws created great obstacles for her career.

Her story is such a poignant one. She had so much talent and was just not given the chance to play roles she obviously should have had. I wish we had gotten more movies from her or had better insight via journals etc now into her behind the scenes life and life when she wasn't being offered parts etc. I would be so interested to be able to really know that side of the story. I would bet it would be quite interesting.
I have loved your classic film/women inspired videos both for the art/jewellery inspiration as well as these beautifully done videos more about the women themselves.

I love making these videos so much. They are some of my favorites because I really get to learn about the ladies that paved the way for us.
Their stories are so different than our own and, honestly, I don't think I could have the strength to endure what they went through.
The injustice of the times is unsettling and yet, they were able to over come and prosper.
I'm excited to do more of these in the future, but they do take a lot of time as I want to be as accurate as possible and give proper credit.
Journals would have been amazing! OMG! Imagine being able to get a peek into their personal thoughts. I keep a journal and cringe at the thought of anyone reading it - ever - because I'm so candid. It would be such a treat for us to read such thoughts by brilliant women.

Thanks so much for a great tribute! I have also been inspired by her talent, courage and her support for raising donations in WW II. I am producing a murder, mystery musical comedy that will comment on the racial injustices she encountered.
