I love, love , love your videos and your hard-working and helpful attitude! I have 2 single needles and a 6 needle and just love to sew, embroider and work with my Cameo and Cricut.. Helpful Tip: I have marked the table in front of me with measurements so I can just measure elastic, etc at the talbe instead of pulling out a tape measure I have also heard of people taping down an actual tape measure or yard stick. I may try that too. Time savers! Keep up the great work!!

Thank you for taking the time to explaining every detail and answer even the silliest questions for those of us that never had anyone teach us anything about sewing. I used a sewing machine once in my life when I was young but my stepmother got so frustrated that she never tried to teach me again.
I taught myself to crochet and knit in my late 40’s and how to sew different stitches by hand on my finished knit n cricket projects.
You are so straight forward and I love that you are just being real. Not trying to be all perfect. Just showing us it really is.
You do beautifully crafted work. Be very proud of yourself and please pass down your talent even if if your kids, nieces, nephews or siblings don’t seem to want to learn or they have a hard time understanding or are scared of messing up.
Everyone needs basic skills like sewing.
I will be a great grandmother next year and want so badly to make pageant outfits and all the glam stuff. I’m going to buy a used sewing machine and try to teach myself.
God bless you and may your talent bring you and others happiness.

Hi, I came across you channel just a bit ago. Your children are adorable!😊 You are so interesting. I have a 10 needle embroidery machine, I also sew & just received a Cricut maker for Christmas. Thank you for showing your showing the set up of your room, how you make your tees & tutus. I’m trying to start my own little business where I live for extra money but I’m not doing very well. I do mostly alterations which I’m not crazy about. I’ve been sewing for almost 42 years. I made my kids clothes when they were little. I’ve make everything from pj’s to my daughter’s wedding dress & everything in between. I don’t know how you do it with your little guy, you are a fantastic Mom!
I have one suggestion for you tho. Just a thought- When you see the elastic together, use white thread and zig zag the long way. Just from experience. Love your channel!

Very well made tutorial. Great tips and pleasant, honest delivery. Good pacing too.
Finishing the ends of the elastic with a zig-zag is a good. I’ve seen other tutorials where the presenters miss this simple, yet easy step. Btw, the actual securing stitches don’t need to be zig-zags, or they can be more dense ones, as a zig-zag doesn’t stretch in that direction anyway (it’s designed to stretch _along_ the seam. Personally, I find it a little easier to secure the ends with a couple straight stitches, and then finish the ends with an overcast/zig-zag.
    Keep ‘em coming. Subbed. :)

  • @mtcampbell1
    @mtcampbell1 5 лет назад +2

Hey Angela, thx so much for this vid. If ur machine has issues with the zigzag, you can hold your two ends of elastic like you are but fold under the rough end about 1/4inch. Then you'll do a straight stitch on top and then reverse it, then repeat that a few times, making a bar stitch. Then you'll do that for the other end of the elastic. Because you've folded under the elastic, they'll look nice and finished and your machine can handle the straight stitch for sure! Hope this helps a bit.

This is so awesome. Thanks for sharing. I do have a couple of suggestions that might make your life easier. A simple fix for the traveling machine.....just look in the hardware section and buy some little clear feet that peel and stick. Also, there is adhesive measuring tape that you can apply to the edge of your sewing table so you don't need to get out your tape measure for the elastic. You could even mark all the commonly used lengths on the tape with a sharpie so you know at a glance.
You might consider cutting a sacrificial strip of ribbon (or bias tape or something wide enough to pin elastic to) a little longer than the length of the channel, then pin the ribbon to the tulle at the beginning and make sure it is inside the channel as you sew. Once you are through sewing the channel, you can pin the elastic to the end of the ribbon sticking out of the channel and pull it back through from the starting point, being sure to secure the end of the elastic to the tulle so it doesn't pull straight through - Much quicker than the safety pin method.

I have watched this video a number of times before I finally have the tulle to make the tutu. I just don't understand how you are able to keep it folded so nice so that at the fold you can sew and make the channel. I fought with mine all the way to the end. It just did not sit nicely and folded down like yours? It was as if you had a crease of some sort that made it easier to do the channel. Was a bit frustrating yet although I know you have done many and it comes easier for you, how did it sit so nicely and just move up so 'cleanly' to be sewn? Great job!

Angela, When sewing the casing on the tulle, what stitch are you using and also the length of the stitch. My tulle keeps gathering.

I sure would like to know how you used that needle threader so easily. I have the same sewing machine and can rarely get it to work. Are there any tricks/tips to using it? Thanks.

I came across your page and I love watching your videos!! These tutus are really cute. Have u ever tried using a rod/stick to help feed the elastic through? The first thing that came to mind is the rod that is on vinyl blinds. The twist rod. It may be a silly idea but it has a hole so u can attach the elastic to the safety pin but also attach the pin to the rod. Not sure if it will work but maybe will help the feeding process work faster?

Angela you are the Queen of Crafting. You make everything look so easy Who taught you how to sew? My mom was a seamstress but I didn’t get interested in it until recently and I’m 67. Thanks for all your tutorials. Keep on crafting and making tutorials you are an inspiration. God Bless

Holding all those layers was hard. I see now why you buy different tulle cause what I purchased was soft and thin. But its done.
