  • hey all! last year (2020) was rough as i'm sure you can all relate. i was in a really bad space mental health wise and struggling a lot to find the joy in life. add in a global pandemic and heartbreak and let's just say i was not at my best. coming back to Costa Rica has been so refreshing and liberating. it's been a bit since i've updated you all so i thought this was long overdue!

Just found your channel and living the blogs in CR. I lived there for 3 years in the past and because of certain circumstances, I had to come back to the states. The crazy thing is that when I came back, I felt lost. I didn’t belong. I’ve been trying to go back and learn sustainable and eco friendly living so that I can live off the land while learning to give back. Ultimately, I feel that’s where I need to be. It literally changed my inner self. Ive been searching for retreats or volunteer work in CR. Can you recommend any websites?

I definitely recommend checking out WWOOF and WorkAway for volunteer opportunities and looking into Permaculture Design Courses (PDCs) for learning more about sustainable living :)

My partner is from the Pacific side of CR and they don’t really want to go back because of certain aspects of tico culture (alcoholism, chisme, ignoring dmv situations, emotional abuse, pedophilia). I am wondering if you encounter any of these things and if you do if you think its easy to create your own bubble of healthy ethics? As we are hoping to come (back) next year but my partner so anxious about it because they overcame so many destructive things CR instilled in them whilst being in Europe with me.
