We really took talent like this for granted back in the 80s! Now in our 50s/60s... its obvious now how brilliant this man was & played a great part in our younger years! Pure Raw Talent.
Me too . My girlfriend had gone , my job had gone , my drinking partner had returned to Scotland. I watched this with a bottle of Bulgarian red wine. Best evening I ever had .
I feel that way about all of them. I'm a huge Neil Finn and it's a crime he's not more well known than he is. Same with Roddy. All these great songs and artists don't get the recognize they should, while all this crap that's out now is the most popular.
In August of '83 Aztec Camera opened for Elvis Costello in my hometown of Madison, Wisconsin. The power went out and Roddy and the boys did an acoustic version of Oblivious. It was brilliant, and the perfect send-off for me to college (university for most of you here).
WOW, amazing! This is one of my favorite songs, have not heard it for quite some time. The acoustic version is every bit as amazing as the full band version, a testimony to the fact that Roddy Frame is a great song writer. For anyone that does not own "High Land, Hard Rain" you might want to pick up a copy if you like this song. Thanks so much for posting!
Roddy is simply one of the greatest songwriters these isles have ever seen. That fact that is such a great guitarist and has a fantastic voice makes the guy unmissable live.
pure....clean and refreshing..... rock on Roddy, anyone that makes Johnny Marr so consumed with jealousy he is moved to write this charming man is a true star!
Surely envy provokes us to try our best or give up? It's not our master. I've read about the Johnny Marr story. Love Johnny Marr and Roddy Frame. They both love chords with that jangling open high E.
Hi Roddy, ...Met you and Campbell after the gig at the Pavillion or Apollo (memory escapes me) around 1984. Great gig. You wore the trademark suede cowboy jacket and as I didn't have anything handy for you to autograph, I had you sign a Scottish pound note from my pocket ! Fanatastc memory, ...and the certainly my inspiration to go on and learn more about music, ..so thank you.
Hey i was there i was the one shouting about "honey from the bay of plenty". Free ticket, few beers, didn't know how lucky i was. Thanks for posting the vids, bring more if u can. All together now "everywhere you goooo... you always take the weather with yyyoooouuuu...." lol x
Thanks for uploading - This was an outstanding series but my VHS of this show is long since lost. I even wrote to the BBC asking about availability but with no success
Love this song...got the 'High Land, Hard Rain" release on cassette...wish I could get a digital version on iTunes or something...timeless good sounds, Roddy!
Fantastic version of a great song. The whole session is just a joy to watch. It was from Jools Holland's bbc show 'Later on in the round' (but I believe was also shown at some point as 'Songwriters circle') which also had neil Finn and Graham Gouldman. The tabs for most of Roddy's stuff can be got at doubleu3 killermontstreet(.)(net If you follow this version the tabs need a little bit tweaked but watching the vid u can make out where.
well I don't know about nowhere near lol, Neil can play just about any instrument there is and is a fine guitarist. Many times he just holds back but I've seen him play some sick stuff on guitar as well. Anyway, this was an awesome show and great collaboration of musicians.
Hi Where has the "Somewhere In my Heart" video gone?! It was saved to my favourites but has now disappeared. (Apologies if it wasn't you). Please, though, if you have it, could you upload it? Many thanks
@nickbaldeagle01 Yes your so right about Neil Finn , i'm not being bitchy but i've always thought Crowded House were overated . Talking about guitar players i'm off to see Squeeze tonight Glen Tilbrooke is something else , with or without a band , his accoustic shows are amazing
November 1982? That was when I was born! I'm shamed! Roddy is a total fox, I met him at The Glee Club in Birmingham in 2005 and made a total tongue-tied tit of myself! He's a bit foxy tho had a bit of a thing for him, particularly in the video to Somewhere In My Heart. Mmm!
I'm ashamed to say that for some reason I'd always considered Roddy Frame a bit of a lightweight back in the day and didn't pay him much attention. I've been getting back into playing guitar and started listening to some of his songs I hadn't heard. And then some others...He's a fucking genius. His album at Ronnie Scott's is brilliant. Sorry Roddy.
omg I remember watching this in 1999 - it was brilliant. 2 of my favourite singers... plus graham gouldman, no complaints about him, he's just not one of my favourites

The hallmark of a real singer; a live performance! Awesome!!!!
Whoever decided to put these three together is a genius.
Saw Aztec Camera many moons ago..Roddy an absolute genius

Mr Envy is a dreadful master
Surely envy provokes us to try our best or give up? It's not our master. I've read about the Johnny Marr story. Love Johnny Marr and Roddy Frame. They both love chords with that jangling open high E.

sERIOUSLY...ONE OF THE GREATEST SONGS FROM THE 80'S WITHOUT A DOUBT...IS THERE ANY WAY TO GET THE SHEET MUSIC TO PLAY ON MY GUITAR?
well I don't know about nowhere near lol, Neil can play just about any instrument there is and is a fine guitarist. Many times he just holds back but I've seen him play some sick stuff on guitar as well. Anyway, this was an awesome show and great collaboration of musicians.
there are few songs that cheer me up as this one, I meant

Let me know if you work them out! I'm on Yahoo with this screen name. Cheers mate
ça tournait en france dans les 80's Aztec Camera?
"Roddy, where's your fringe."
"I lent it to my mother, she's gone to a party."
The BBC is like that. I asked for copies of Rock School and a few other shows.
I can't find that website for Roddy's tabs, can you write it out in full?
thanks
Hi
Where has the "Somewhere In my Heart" video gone?! It was saved to my favourites but has now disappeared. (Apologies if it wasn't you). Please, though, if you have it, could you upload it? Many thanks
What are the actual chords to this song?
It looks like he starts in Am?
I'd love to see more clips from this show!
was this a series? (Songwriter's Circle?)
It is Roddy...
being a skinny c**t meself this is a joy. roddy is as cool there as he was back in the postcard days...
Where the hell does THAT come from? Jeez...just read the lyrics of "Good Morning Britain."
Oh ok, thanks, I'll give it a go.

He's God...in his own way...
Mmm!
plagiarised this lyric in my Higher English essay way back in the day!!!! Ooops x
and why not!
Your Wish is my Command, enjoy while you can, next time they might block my IP, then it will be goodbye and not au revoir
You play like Roddy...
Peace
The cords are nowhere to be found on the net!
wot a top song now this is a proper pop song not like the crap you get now
jesus christ roddy looks about 18
Its obvious..Roddy plays the guitar like a guitarist...
I'm ashamed to say that for some reason I'd always considered Roddy Frame a bit of a lightweight back in the day and didn't pay him much attention. see comment
Fantastic musician but never in any top list's of guitarist's.
Terrible version. Roddy has to play slowly for the sake of the others.
you do it better then
omg I remember watching this in 1999 - it was brilliant. 2 of my favourite singers... plus graham gouldman, no complaints about him, he's just not one of my favourites
