"Hit The Lights was composed by James and one of his friends. I remember the day I went over to Lars' house , he said, "Check out this song" and he played me "Hit The Lights". We were both into that heavy kind of shit. He wanted me to play some guitar leads on it but I couldn't make it over to Ron McGovney's house to do the recording so James and Lars brought the 4-track over to my apartment and I did the solo on a little Montgomery Ward amp."

when james started singing he tried to mimic Diamond head vocals that's why he sounds different in the earliest demos

there are 2 versions from the song
this version is only released in the first copies from Metal Massacre..there is Lloyd Grant on the lead guitar and James plays guitras and bass
but there is a 2nd version (on all later copies from Metal Masscare Sampler 1)...that is with Dave Mustaine on lead and Ron Mc Goveney on bass... for very sure
