This has always been one of my favorite all-time songs. It's sad that music that is actually great gets so few views on RUclips, while Bieber clones and misogynistic crap gets millions upon millions of views.
This live performance is better than the studio version on the Interiors album. I remember asking for this song at a John Stewart concert in Perth round about 1991. He said Roseanne does a better job than me on that one. Great song.

A great song about the fear of being alone. John and Rosanne write, "To stare at the fear is going insane Forgiving the fear is one up on Cain To dance with the tiger and laugh at the rain." Also great is "Reaching for stars while we're standing on stools." Great lyrics. I believe Cain is correct - Cane doesn't fit.

I’ve always loved Roseanne Cash and her music. I don’t think she has gotten near the recognition she deserves. Same goes for Linda Ronstadt.
