THE EPISODE - 'Little One' (1968)
UK Release Date: May 1968
Best known for containing future Deep Purple members Ian Gillan and Roger Glover,Episode Six managed to record no fewer than 11 singles between 1966 and 1969 without even a sniff off chart success although I can confirm that they gained a fair amount of airplay and were regular contributors on Rdio One sessions.
For this one off single for MGM their name was shortened to The Epi but all to no avail.

Maureen Evans - 'I Almost Called Your Name' (1968)
Просмотров 8 тыс.11 лет назад
UK Release Date: January 1968 I have declare that I have an enourmous soft spot for anything recorded by the prolific Maureen Evans. She began by recording 10 singles in 1958-59 for Woolworths Embassy imprint and then proceeded to record 17 singles for Oriole between 1959 and 1965 and 4 singles for CBS between 1965 and 1968 this being her final one. THE PEEP SHOW - 'Esprit De Corps (50 Years Old)' (1967)

UK Release Date: January 1968 Best known for their piece of dreamy psych excellence that was their first 45 'Mazy',this was The Peep Shows second and final single. It takes a few plays but the lyrics are beautiful and the delivery understated - An underrated gem in my opinion.
Mixture - 'Sad Old Song' (Parlophone 1969)
Просмотров 3,6 тыс.11 лет назад
UK Release Date: 31st January 1969 In the late 60's recording a Mike D'abo song could be a shortcut to chart success as Chris Farlowe and The Foundations would testify.Unfortunately for The Mixture the gold dust failed to rub off on them and this gentle pop song failed to register. Not to be confused with the 70's one hit wonders Mixtures (Pushbike Song) this outfit comprised... Bob Harrison - ...
The Realm - 'Hard Time Loving You' (CBS 1966)
Просмотров 4,6 тыс.11 лет назад
UK Release Date: March 1966 Previously fronted by Earl Preston,Liverpool based The Realm had released 2 singles for Fontana.1963's 'I Know Something' was recorded as Earl Preston and The T.T's and '64's 'Raindrops' as Earl Preston and The Realms. This March 1966 CBS release appears to be their only record as The Realm, wether or not Earl Preston was still involved I'm not sure.
INSTANT SUNSHINE - 'Has Anyone Seen My Horse' (1987)

A great song from Radio 4's own 'Pop Group' Instant Sunshine. They recall the days of Flanders and Swann,The Temperance Seven and even sometimes the much revered Bonzo Dog Doo Dah Band. They were Doctors' Alan Maryon-Davis,David Barlow,Peter Christie and Journalist Miles Kington.Their first ever appearance was at a New Years Eve Ball in 1966 at St.Thomases Hospital, they went on to become darling...
The News - 'This Is the Moment' (Decca 1966)

Following my posting of the B side of this record I have had several requests to give the A side an airing....So for Bruce w and Moxie96 in particular here is 'This Is the Moment' written by Chris Andrews and featured in the BBC tv series 'Adam Adamant'...I wasn't too keen on it at first but it is growing on me - Still prefer 'Ya Ya Da Da' though.
The Royal Guardsmen - 'Baby Let's Wait' (1968)
Просмотров 11 тыс.11 лет назад
It would be no surprise if most peoples impression of The Royal Guardsmen was almost entirely based on their novelty recordings about a certain dog called Snoopy and his battles against The Red Barron. It therefor comes as a surprise that this Dcember 1968 UK release turns out,in my opinion, to be one of the best records of 1968.Of course it bombed in the wake of their previous indescretions.
Miki Antony - 'Chuckee' (1970)
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.11 лет назад
Miki Antony spent most of the late 60's and much of the 70's searching for that elusive hit despite numerous releases on RCA. 'Chuckee' was released on 7th August 1970 in the UK and is a respectable piece of British bubblegum that would not have disgraced The Cuff Links or Bobby Sherman across the pond.
The Hook - 'In The Beginning' (1969)
Просмотров 4 тыс.11 лет назад
The Hook were Bobby Arlin (ex Leaves),Bobby Sklar,Dennis Provisor and Dale Loyola and recorded one very rare album for UNI in 1968 called 'Hooked'...that's all I know. This single was released in the UK in September 1968.
The Chosen Few - 'Maybe The Rain Will Fall' (1969)
Просмотров 11 тыс.11 лет назад
Hailing from Muncie, Indiana this tender ballad is somewhat at odds with the majority of The Chosen Few's sole album for RCA in 1969,which tended towards the Horn Rock sound of Blood,Sweat and Tears and Chicago. The single was released in the UK in August 1969. The song was written and sung by lead singer Carl Storie and is considered something of a lost gem in the states.
Barry St.John - 'Cry Like A Baby' (1968)
Просмотров 5 тыс.11 лет назад
Throughout the 60's Barry St.John recorded for Decca, Columbia and Major Minor without finding commercial success. This soulful take on Dan Penn and Spooner Oldham's 'Cry Like A Baby' lost out to the Box Tops in 1968.Barry continued recording into the 70's and a retrospective CD is well overdue.
Valerie Singleton - 'Solomon's Centipede' (1969)
Просмотров 2,8 тыс.11 лет назад
This October 1969 single was Blue Peter Icon Val Singleton's first, and to my knowledge only, stab at pop stardom.Written by Peter Sarstedt and clearly aimed at Blue Peter's core audience it nevertheless finds Val in fine voice...well it works for me!!
Billie Davis - 'Nights In White Satin' (1969)
Просмотров 3,9 тыс.11 лет назад
Inexplicably left off recent career retrospective CD's of Billie Davis this November 1969 single release is easily the best cover version of this Moody Blues classic and the only one that even comes close to the beauty of their original.

Can't touch this!
Great cover of a song that was originally a hit for Cymarron in 1971.
Ifnshe had sung more English for the Dutch public she would had even more hits than only singing German. However she has a great voice.

Two weeks ago, it was me to be the one to be left to carry on. Such heartbreak to live in real time, to hear one of Paul's best. My husband was 68 y.o. cut down by Parkinson's, in four savage years, like wildfire. At 74 y.o. I alone took care of him for the entire four years at home, where he wanted it to end, being at home with me. I made that wish happen with God's help. The physicality for an old lady has been beyond challenging. Now, remembering will have to do, Our memories alone will get us through, you and me against the world. My handsome, Stetson wearing cowboy, I love you so. -- Ft. Worth, TX
Beautiful song of Paul Williams 🎵🎼🎶🎤🥰
I like the version by Cimarron better ...but this is good
Chris de Burgh has given a new life to this touching song few years ago.
Thank you for sharing! ^_^
This band were from Ireland
Kenny Young, he wrote Under The Boardwalk and many other songs for other artists, S S S Single Bed for Fox is just one.
Oh kota Jember yg bisa kulupakan sampai kapanpun dg mantan tentunya Bambang Purwadi BWI

Beautiful Beautiful Beautiful
Jadi ingat kota Jember ygkemaren aku lewat depan stadion lama bernostalgia seakan akan ketrmu manntan pacar dekat tikungan utara stadion Bambang pur Banyuwangi
I was blessed to be asked to take Robert Hirst's funeral. He had a wonderful voice and deserved to have become a very succesful artist.
Bahagianya daku sempat lewat tikungan kreongan atas walau tak ketemu Martha Vibe Hendrik dan Rucce from Bambang Purwadi STMN Jember 1972
This song reminds me of my girlfriend back in 1971. Sad memories!
The lyrics are so compelling. The tempo is a haunting waltz. Major Minor records had so many great-artists
It didnt become a hit. Okay. But it is nice to hear. And the song has got meaning about villages and people being people. Ordinary people is a great theme😊⚡️⚡️💯💯🤩
And when one of us is gone…and one is left alone to carry on 💔💧
Smooth 70’s country…
Very attached to this . Prefer Roger Greenwoods version.
Eu e José Carlos meu primeiro namorado Jamais esquecerei ❤❤
Eu e meu primeiro namorado como éramos felizes ❤❤❤
My mom got to Uber him couple of years ago in Park City. Very down to earth guy. She got to get a pic with him.
Pure West Coast Psychedelia magic with a Gregorian mood!
Eating my floor

Cymarron does this song way. way better.
10-4
A forgotten gem. So beautiful , with Barry and Maurice’s backing . ❤ I was a little girl when this came out .. just gorgeous
Uni Records went horn heavy with their rock artists in late 1968 - 1969. Strawberry Alarm Clock, Hook, Giant Crab.
I so love this song!
I have the 45rpm single record.
It takes years to become popular. Godley / Creme had to go thrugh Hotlegs and 10cc before they found themselve.
One of the the most beautiful renditions of one of my very favorite songs ........
This was only available on 7', with only one release with picture sleeve in Spain. I'm lucky to have obtained a copy, and it's not a bad song indeed. Greetings from Belgium.
My all time favorite artist. Could listen to LOBO tunes all day long and just love every minute of it. Been listening for over 50 years.
This is very well done! Very! Just as well done as Angel Of The Morning!
ABSOLUTELY AWESOME
The scope of his talent is amazing. Add to his songwriting and singing is his acting and his very capable hosting on the Tonight Show.
What stopped this from being a hit? I'll tell you Gomlensky kept overspending despite advances from distributors Polydor it went bust. Taking this with it. Only a few years back did Kevin and Lawrence remastered the tapes made for an unrelased lp now on CD.
Legendary channel
Not heard in years
