- Rosanne Cash makes her first appearance on Late Night the day before her 30th birthday, performs "Pink Bedroom," and in the next segment chats with Dave, later joined by her friend Brenda. Plus a post-show promo from Paul.
The more I suffer Stephan Colbert, the more I like Letterman, and guests like Rosanne Cash. This is really a fun interview. Eat your heart out, Colbert!
All three of the current late night "hosts" are unbearable to watch. You're right, Colbert is probably the worst, but the other two are nearly as bad. Watching Letterman here (or old clips of Carson), it becomes painfully obvious that our current bottom-feeders lack what those gentlemen had: talent, class and a sense of humor.
She rocked the John Hiatt song and was funny during the interview. Rhythm & Romance was a great album but I also liked King's Record Shop. She is a very talented and intelligent artist.
I don't think she ever made a bad album. My favorite was "The Wheel" from '93. It wasn't a "hit" like some of the others, but I thought that it was exquisite.
Thanks for the post. Absolutely love Rosanne Cash. She's the best.
God Bless Rosanne Cash
Rosanne Cash, Johnny Cash's daughter made her late night talk show debut on the NBC late night talk show Late Night with David Letterman, which aired on May 23, 1985 to celebrate her 30th birthday, promoting her new album "Rhythm & Romance" (1985); She performs "Pink Bedroom".👍
always beautiful rosanne...that it was one of the best album of the 80s!
She always kept her own identity. Just fantastic …wow !!!!!!🎉🎉🎉
Great performance of the John Hiatt song, and then what a treat to hear Paul and the band go to a commercial break at 4:00 with the Dutch band Shocking Blue's "Venus," from late 1969.
God Im so in love with her!
hahaha
Good God man, she was a goddess
She seems very genuine
Rosanne had great chemistry with Letterman. She appeared on his show fairly regularly after this.
She has a really cute laugh!
She has a cute everything!
I love how much Dave's band is into this song! I would be so high and flattered to be in Rosanne's shoes...hey, just thought of a song title "High on Flattery" ;D
Dang, how beautiful; and Brenda ain't bad either.
Awesome 💕💕💕👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎶🎶🎶🎶🎶👌👌👌👌👌
Now I gotta see this Pia Zadora interview.
About to watch she and Clint Black on Finding Your Roots on PBS
WOW Brenda 😍😍😍
😂 I had the same experience as Dave, my 30th b-day was absolutely cool, I got the blues on my 31st 🤪
It's interesting that Anton Fig played drums on that record, and went on to replace Steve Jordan in this band
You certainly are a beautiful person, rosanne
She dances like Elaine on Seinfeld.
❤
Bands too noisy you cant hear her vocals.
I know. And her voice is her strength. I suppose right about this time, rock was huge, who could blame her.
CORRECT- VOCAL LEVEL IS BELOW BAND- BAD MIXING
Yep. The Band drowning her out!
Her eyes and mannerisms remind me so much of Lisa Marie Presley.

Rosanne was worried her appearance might end up like that of Pia Zadora. Despite his reservations, Don decided to post Pia's lone Late Night appearance after all:

Dave talks about the just-concluded appearance of Kenny The Gardener and his nephew Thad. You can see just how smoothly it went as part of the "Kenny The Gardener" collection:
