    Gabi, I love your videos, I was raised Pentecostal and these videos helped me in my realization that the Catholic Church is the one true faith. However I’m only 17 years old. Last night I told my parents I wanted to convert, and the flipped out, and even said this is an attack on our family by the devil. They found out that I prayed the rosary, and criticized me for not having a personal relationship with Christ. I was in contact with many priests, and they told me to never speak to them again. They’re trying the keep me out of the Faith for as long as possible, by stating they will only let me convert once I graduate college with a job, and am living on my own. Gabi, please pray for me that the hearts of my parents may soften, and that they may let me convert.

      Hello Friend in Christ,
      I was a Buddist too. I recognized that Our Lord Jesus Christ is the All-Good and My Savior when I was in Grade 4. I did the same things like you. We had a family meeting to talk about my convert. My parents didn't ban me from discovering Catholic faith, they asked me to wait till I got old enough then I could make decision on my own. And can you believe it? After 9 years, now I am grade 12, I just received Baptism, Confirmation and Holy Communion on 3rd June which filled me with such a marvelous joy. Now you are 17 years old, it only takes you one year to prove to your family your choice.
      It is apparent that our family situation may appear to be different. However, there is one common point between us, God had called you and me back to the True, One, Holy and Apostolic Church then He will guide us with His Divine Merciful Love. The only thing I can say to you now that is stay firm in praying, especially with the Holy Rosary of Our Lady and silently explore the beauty of Catholic faith. I am sure that you will be astonished by its traditional beauty.
      You can be sure that our prayers are with you.
      Sorry for my bad English as it is not my mother tongue.

      Praying for you dear one. I was a Pentecostal preacher, but I grew up Catholic and eventually the Blessed Mother and the Holy Spirit led me back home to the Catholic Church by signs and wonders. Honor your mother and father, and trust God. Your parents probably love the lord very much, but they have been misinformed. Forgive them and continue to pray for them. You may continue to seek the counsel of priests and pray the rosary, but do not rub it in your parent’s face. Spiritually speaking you are already at the age of consent for your decisions for your own salvation. However societally and economically you may require your parents to support you for several more years. Be wise. Be honest. But most of all be wise.

    I had wanted to kneel for holy communion for months before actually beginning to do so. Your videos encouraged me, then a quote from Cardinal Sarah tipped me over the line: "If you believe that Christ is our God and is present, why don't you kneel? Why don't you crawl? Why not show respect?" Because this is not very common in my parish I will sometimes get nervous about kneeling, but this quote straightens me out. I hope it can help someone else.

      @@gabiafterhours The Lord has spoken to me. He told me that the Novus Ordo Mass is more pleasing to Him, more preferred by Him and more appropriate at this time or after the V2 NOT the TLM thats why the Holy Spirit created this kind of Mass through Pope St. Paul VI.
      Fr. Michel Rodrigue said the Church will/must go through all the stages that Jesus had underwent. Jesus was born and had stayed with His parents until His public ministry. In God's appointed time, He endured His passion, suffered, died on the cross and resurrected. Likewise, the Church will exactly experience also what Jesus went through. The Church will undergo Her Passion, will be delivered also into the hands of Her enemies, will suffer, will die and will resurrect just like Jesus, Her Head.
      When Jesus entered into His Passion, He was stripped of His glory because He was being delivered into the hands of His enemies to be immolated. In the same way, the Church would enter into Her passion and would be delivered also into the hands of Her enemies for immolation. After V2, the Church has entered into Her passion thats why Pope St. Paul VI said in 1972 that the smoke of Satan has entered the Church for indeed it has. After V2, the Church has been delivered into the hands of Her enemies thats why the Novus Ordo was born because in this Mass, the Church became poor, has been stripped of Her glory because She was being delivered into the hands of Her enemies.
      The Novus Ordo Mass is the Mass more appropriate, more pleasing to God at this time, willed and more preferred by Him than the TLM because She has been undergoing Her Passion. Soon the Church will die or disappear also temporarily but will resurrect again just like Her Groom, Jesus.
      When we are attending the Novus Ordo Mass, we are accompanying Jesus in His Passion and suffering just like His mother Mary and His faithful disciples esp St. John. When we attend only TLM, it's like we only accompany Him in His glory but we abandon Him in His passion just like the Apostles (except St. John) who all ran away from Him out of fear for His enemies. Attending only TLM is like accompanying Jesus only in His glory but abandoning Him in His passion and suffering. So you must prefer the Novus Ordo Mass over the TLM. You will receive more graces if you attend the Novus Ordo than the TLM. The Latin Mass is not the Mass intended by God after V2. It was only revived in 2007 by Pope Benedict XVI with the hope that the schismatic group led by Archbishop Lefebrve would come back fully to the Church but the TLM is not the Mass willed by God at this moment or after V2. Go now to the Novus Ordo. After the Great Purification of the Church or after the Great Chatisement, the Novus Ordo will be replaced by a new form of Mass appropriate at the Church's glorious resurrection by the time when the Era of Peace begins as prophesied by Our Lady of Fatima, "In the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph and a period of peace will granted to the world." This is the time when the Church resurrects from Her death. Praise God!

      @@gabiafterhours This is the reason why the form of Mass is changing as the time goes by. It is to fit the Mass to the stage or life of the Church where She is in.

      I will reiterate that the Novus Ordo is the Mass willed by God for our time or after V2, more appropriate at this time and more acceptable to God than the Latin Mass because after V2, the Church entered into Her passion or suffering. In the Novus Ordo Mass, the Church like Jesus is stripped of Her glory and majesty because She is undergoing Her passion or suffering.

You were an answer to prayer, you have taught me so much about the rosary, our church and how things should go back to how it used to be. (I blame you, a priest on youtube and Padre Pio for bringing me back to going to mass.) I am a 57 yr. old grandmother and I am so grateful for your teachings and encouragement to pray the rosary daily, wear the brown scapular and miraculous medal, and encourage others to do the same. Gabi, how can we push this forward throughout our archdiocese, who would we contact our Cardinal and Bishop?
    The parishioners and priest already look at me funny for wearing my mantilla but I don't care, I don't wear it for them, I wear it to honor my Heavenly Father when entering his House and respecting his law that a woman should cover her head. I arrive at mass at least 45 minutes early in order to pray the rosary before the Blessed Sacrament. I used to receive the stink eye from the Music Director but he finally gave up. :-)
    I love your videos. Keep up the good work. You are a Godsend. Please continue to speak God's truth for our Church. We need to return to tradition.

      I personally believe it starts with our priests. We need to pray for them and then send them stuff. Help to educate them. If they are of good will and humble they will listen. We need to encourage them to make a daily holy hour. With prayer comes a love for God. With a love for God comes a desire to spread His message and reverence Him. God bless you! Keep praying the Rosary!

    Yes! That's exactly what our church needs! People need to believe again in the Real Presence of Our Lord in the Holy Eucharist!
    Unfortunately, it also depends a lot on the priests, on wether or not they implemenr or allow the lay to practice the traditional form of the mass.
    In my personal experience, I started veiling and receiving the Holy Eucharist on my tongue and on my knees about a couple of years ago. Since then, the number of people who do that on my parish has also increased-- Now, about 30% of the ladies veil and many people kneel down to receive Our Lord.
    I visited another parish nearby a few times, (where no one veiled or kneeled down to recieve Our Lord), and when I asked the priest of that parish if it was okay for me to veil there, he hesitated and said it was best not to because that was very uncommon. After that, I haven't gone back to that parish and don't plan on going back again. I just hope that every priest reflects on how the way we celebrate mass impacts the faith of the Church.😑🙏
    May God continue to bless you Gabriel!😌🙏

    I am a new catholic convert. This Easter I will be Catholic for an entire year. But in my short time as Catholic I have unfortunately about given up going to my home Parrish due to abuses I have noticed. Things such as people talking and laughing in the sanctuary before mass causing myself and others difficulty in praying, vast majority of people taking the Eucharist in the hand without bowing, waving at others when leaving the line, the priest rushing through mass, routinely placing his water bottle on the alter, been seen arriving to Mass 5 minutes before time and can put on his vestments in that time then leave (as in drive off) quicker than I can come out of the restroom after mass.
    I am now attending another church 25 miles away that is still NO mass but does the tlm once a month, has alter rails most everyone uses, and people respect the silence.
    The more I learn the more I wish the Traditional mass was still the norm. Unfortunately, the closest church that offers it daily is an FSSP church over 2hrs away.
    I personally feel the new mass breeds irreverence.

    How do you all feel about alter servers wearing gym shoes while serving? I really do not like it. When I was an Acolyte , I was trained that alter-servers are not to wear casual clothing. And I still agree with that training, but here in oklahoma, all of these churches are so relaxed! I have been looking for a long time, and cannot find the formality that I am used to. I am Lutheran but I am going to convert when i find the right church. Since 7th grade, i have felt a calling to become a monk.
    Also, when the priest holds up the host, I believe there should be incense there, The churches I have visited do not do that. It really burns my brisket.

      The casual dress is a sign that people are poorly catechized and don't take the Mass seriously. All of these are new symptoms... all the product of the failures I pointed out in my video. When the priest commits to the Eucharist as really Jesus and the Mass as his one sacrifice then he will begin to catechize and encourage others to do the same. Keep searching for a good church. It wouldn't hurt to send this video to the Churches that need help. I also have a fantastic video on altar serving. Simply type Altar Server in the search bar.

      Gabi, I would not impose a three piece suit as a norm in mass, dressing modestly for males, wearing a collared shirt with dress pants and formal shoes and no jeans can also work. I have been to countries around the world and Catholics wear their Sunday best at mass, usually it’s their traditional attire which is very modest or collared shirt and pants - No Jeans... though the young people are now trying to bring Jeans in looking at the west.

    The kneeling part is very appropriate but then a lot of time would go in that , India has a lot of people may be because of that it's not followed here.I wish everyone understands it's Jesus that we receive in every Qurbana.

    Awesome video! Why is the Old Mass called the “Extraordinary Form”? It would seem like that name means it is an Indult Mass that’s only celebrate in extraordinary circumstances (like extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion)

    • @billybob-bj3nw

      Quoc Pham I agree, it should not be called the EF. It is the traditional Roman Rite Mass. The Novus Ordo is a different rite and should be called so.

    • @jesusacuna309

      Pope Benedict decided to call it that, because it is "extra-ordinary" in that it isn't all too common anymore.
      Tridentine Mass would probably be the best word, in my opinion.

      It is Extra Ordinary because the church is global and around the world people are used to celebrating the mass in their local languages in the Ordinary Form. You need to understand that Latin is no longer spoken globally and people outside the west really enjoy the mass in their native tongue and believe me, they are way more reverent in the mass than in the west. Loss of reverence is more of a cultural thing that happened and not because we stopped using the EF of the mass. It’s the same story in Protestant Churches in the west as well.

  • @MDkid1
    @MDkid1 5 лет назад +5

    Nobody understands reverence these days. They will take everything you've said out of context, call it mundane, sexiest etc. I hope the church will return to these methods of conducting the mass.
    Some questions...why do the alter boys lift the vestments of the priest during the elevation? Also, I know a woman who only receives the blood of Christ. I have never seen this practice and was wondering about it.

    Gabriel, thank you so much for this video. This is how I learned the mass as a child. Thank you for the many reminders. One question, if physically you are unable to kneel to receive communion, do you stand? I would feel disrespectful if everyone else is kneeling. If I force myself to kneel, I would not be sure if I could manage to get up again on my own.

    Where in the church teaching does it say one can only be reverent to the Eucharist if they receive on their knees and/or their tongue?

    • @gabiafterhours
      @gabiafterhours  5 лет назад

      It is only within the past 60 years that communion in the hand has been widespread and with that treating the Eucharist as ordinary bread there has been a dramatic decrees in reverence for the real presence. The universal norm for reception of Holy Communion is on the tongue. It was only granted as an exception to receive in the hand. That exception was introduced first as an abuse. If you were to go to an EF Mass and put your hands out the priest would put the Eucharist directly in your mouth.... not to be rude, but to safeguard the Eucharist from being dropped or particles falling. I recommend checking out a lecture I gave on the Eucharist it gets into the theology. God bless you!

On the one hand, I cannot jump ship, but the irreverence at the Ordinary Form of the Mass is un-teaching my children through observation everything that I've been teaching them for the longest time. .. especially the utmost reverence and focus during the liturgy of the Eucharist. Okay, I do have another question for you, Gabi, and I apologize if I’m trying your patience.
    I’m probably going to take up swimming. I wear a few sacramentals and I would hate to be seen as immodest wearing them. Also, they may prove impractical for the sport itself.
    If there was one single sacramental one could wear anywhere and NEVER ever take off (excluding the Brown Scapular and the Rosary, as I’m going to be wearing it at the pool), what would it be?
    In light of your knowledge, is there a sort of “rank” of importance among sacramentals? For instance, I obviously love the crucifix and the cross, but I’m also very devoted to Saint Benedict and the Virgin Mary. For some reason, my thoughts seem to be partial to a saint Benedict medal, but I definitely wouldn’t mind reading your opinion on this.
    Anyone else who would care to chime in, please feel free.
    God bless you all

    Hello Gabriel, I’m so glad I’ve found you channel. I was Raised Catholic like you, then I lost my faith, and now I’m struggling to find it again. I hope, at some point, I’ll make it back to Catholicism completely. For some reason, I have only now learned about the Miraculous Medal. I have one that is tinier than my pinky finger nail (and I have small hands). I wear it around my neck together with my saint Benedict medal and saint Benedict crucifix. Now, this is a silly question, but I was wondering if the super tiny size of my Miraculous Medal may be offensive to the Blessed Mother? Thanks to anyone who will answer.

    • @gabiafterhours
      @gabiafterhours  5 лет назад +1

      Wearing any size miraculous medal is VERY GOOD. It does sound like your heart is tugging you to wear a bigger medal. There are benefits to wearing a larger medal. For example everywhere I go somebody always comments on my medal. I bring this up because... if you think about how many images of Mary you see in public... there are not many. When you wear a larger medal everywhere you go you bring the Virgin Mary into the room. Just something to ponder. Your kindness and your good action though simple can be an opportunity for Mary to work in another persons life when they see you wearing her medal. I will be posting a video on this topic soon, but here is a great talk I gave where I talk about the medal. Enjoy!

  • @bpcathcrusader4952
    @bpcathcrusader4952 5 лет назад

    Gabi, I disagree that kneeling at the altar rail is the universally accepted reverent way to receive Holy Communion. Catholics from the ancient Eastern rite Catholic Churches all receive Jesus on the tongue (usually dipped in the Holy Blood by the priest) standing in a reverent posture by folding their hands in prayer 🙏🏻. Also ad Orientum is understood as the liturgical east where the priest and congregation faces the altar. He does not have to face the same direction as the people to fulfill it as He is already doing it in the OF mass. What needs to be done is proper catechesis on the subject to bring back the focus on the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. When I see the priest lifting up the Host, ad Orientum or not, I should see Jesus there as the priest is standing there “In Persona Christi”, much like the picture painted by Leonardo Da Vinci of the Last Supper. To me that works as well for being transported to that divine moment during mass. I don’t think we should be worried too much about the direction of the priest in the OF of the mass. Other than that I agree using the Paten, all boy altar servers, though I have no problem with girls being present to serve if there are few boys.

    • @bpcathcrusader4952
      @bpcathcrusader4952 5 лет назад

      I come from the East belonging to the Roman rite and we celebrate the OF in our local language, very reverently as reverence to the divine is part of our culture. The OF works well for us.

    I agree I really do not like to see girls ulterior. I grew up and it was boys with shoes. Not sneakers hair cut neat. It drives me nuts. I also prefer for the priest to hand the Eucharist than regular people. Drives me insane.

    I wanted to make a suggestion for a further video by email, but understandably, you do not publish an email address:
    Preparation for', and Thanksgiving after Mass
    St Thomas Aquinas, was the author of the Mass Prayers and Divine Office for Corpus Christi, he also wrote the Adoro Te (Godhead herein hiding) a magnificent confession of faith in The True Presence and a wonderful witness to Jesus in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
    Here is the text for you, my unknown but ever beloved brothers to bring new aspect of devotion to The Blessed Sacrament:
    So, for Preparation before receiving Holy Communion (suggested for use as quiet recitation in the 'Communion Queue):
    Godhead herein hiding,
    whom I do adore,
    Masked by these bare shadows,
    shape and nothing more,
    See, Lord, at Thy service
    low lies here a heart
    Lost, all lost in wonder
    at the God thou art.
    Seeing, touching,
    tasting are in thee deceived:
    How says trusty hearing?
    that shall be believed;
    What God's Son has told me,
    take for truth I do
    Truth Himself speaks truly
    or there's nothing true.
    On the cross Thy godhead
    made no sign to men,
    Here Thy very manhood
    steals from human ken:
    Both are my confession,
    both are my belief,
    And I pray the prayer
    of the dying thief.
    I am not like Thomas,
    wounds I cannot see,
    But can plainly call thee
    Lord and God as he;
    Let me to a deeper
    faith daily nearer move,
    Daily make me harder
    hope and dearer love.
    O thou our reminder
    of Christ crucified,
    Living Bread,
    the life of us for whom he died,
    Lend this life to me then:
    feed and feast my mind,
    There be thou the sweetness
    man was meant to find.
    Jesu, whom I look at
    shrouded here below,
    I beseech thee send me
    what I thirst for so,
    Some day to gaze on thee
    face to face in light
    And be blest for ever
    with Thy glory's sight.
    Amen.
    (Trans. G M Hopkins )
    Good supplementary video would be this one : ruclips.net/video/L2xX8tWaTx4/видео.html
    It is a traditional Latin plainchant - seems to be a community of OFM Caps.
    Thanksgiving after having received Holy Communion:
    I thank You, O holy Lord, almighty Father, eternal God, who have deigned, not through any merits of mine, but out of the condescension of Your goodness, to satisfy me a sinner, Your unworthy servant, with the precious Body and Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this Holy Communion be not a condemnation to punishment for me, but a saving plea to forgiveness. May it be to me the armor of faith and the shield of a good will. May it be the emptying out of my vices and the extinction of all lustful desires; and increase of charity and patience, of humility and obedience, and all virtues; a strong defense against the snares of all my enemies, visible and invisible; the perfect quieting of all my evil impulses of flesh and spirit, binding me firmly to You, the one true God; and a happy ending of my life. I pray too that You will deign to bring me, a sinner, to that ineffable banquet where You with Your Son and the Holy Spirit, are to your Saints true light, fulfillment of desires, eternal joy, unalloyed gladness, and perfect bliss. Through the same Christ our Lord.
    Amen.
    I still use a version published in the previous Collins English Missal.
    The recitation of these two texts before and after receiving Holy Communion have been such a blessing to me and in keeping with your ministry and raison d'etre, perhaps you could use these in encouraging better prep and thanksgiving among Catholics.
