  • The definition of overactive bladder by the International Continence Society is urinary urgency usually accompanied by frequency and nocturia with or without incontinence in the absence of a UTI or obvious other problems.
The very common things that doctors ask you to do is to document:
how many times you go to the bathroom,
    how many times you leak,
how many times you get up at night,
    how severe your urgency is,
    how much you drink, and
how much volume of urine you pee.
We will help you understand more of how to diagnose and treat overactive bladder and urge urinary incontinence.

I have a combination of stress incontinence, overactive bladder, and frequent urination. I have a pessary and take mybetryx (I spelled it wrong, sorry). I’ve done pelvic floor exercises and out of a scale of 1-5 I’m a three, that’s after 6 weeks. My dr says there’s nothing else to be done. I ask about surgery and he says my kind of issues can’t be resolved by surgery 😮 I’m currently seeking another urgynocologist. I’m so fed up with the leaking (even with a pessary), wearing pads, being manipulated by incompetent doctors (plural). I know there’s help out there! I’m still my 40s and shouldn’t have this problem, not in this day and age.

Often you will feel like you need to run to the bathroom as soon as you stand up. This is very common while sitting not having the sensation. Seek help from a urologist or urogynecologist who can diagnose your problems and give you help. Pelvic floor exercises, decrease fluids in the evening, and then medications can really help. Just don't give up.

That is the symptoms of Overactive bladder. Try pelvic floor exercises and limiting fluid but not to dehydration. Medications can really help. Ask your primary care or gynecologist and they probably can help.

I’m starting to drink decaf coffee instead of caffeinated. I am diabetic and have been drinking a lot of black coffee to stave off hunger while fasting. I have been leaking when I get up from laying down. Switching from caffeine seems to help so far. I’m still monitoring. Several diabetics have said this stopped their leaking.

@@eleanorsmith971 just decreasing sugar while fasting will help as well. Diabetes itself is a diuretic causing the body to lose water by getting rid of sugar. Good first steps!

@@DrJeffreyMcQueary I stopped all sugar even before I started fasting . I eat plant based, never had urine problems when my sugar was high. When I began fasting and my blood sugar dropped to the normal range is when this problem came about. After hearing from others that caffeine causes this issue with them, I switched from caffeinated coffee to decaf and the problem went away. I also would put a green tea bag in my coffee. My problem with the switch is I hardly have energy with the decaf. I’m trying to balance the two.
I put some heavy cream in my caffeinated coffee to see if that would help me fast without drinking so much coffee until I eat around 11:30. Still monitoring.I’m not giving up fasting, it along with my plant based diet has had a great affect on my sugar and overall wellness. I’m not fasting to lose weight, it’s all about getting my diabetes under control. I am slowly losing weight.
      Thanks for your help everyone.
