Jaden was in that draft with Ant too. 28th pick, what a steal.
Naz Reid UDFA the year before. Gersson is the real MVP
Drafting Naz 6th overall was incredible value as well
Gobert has brought professional consistency and defensive accountability to a team that desperately needed it. Supercharged the team is a good way of putting it.
Finch coming in third place for COTY is extremely disrespectful
Imagine if he came in FORTH! I'm glad his name was in the mix. I heard someone on a national podcast say that it was just easier for the voters to look at biggest improvement in terms of record.
COTY is an expectation driven award. If you exceed expectations like being a team that wasn’t looked at as going to the playoffs before the year started like OKC and Orlando that’s why you get those results. Hell Spolestra and Ty lue are 2 of the top 5 coaches in the NBA and neither have won it

ANT has given this fanbase a drastic confidence boost we fear no one but shooting ourselves in the foot.
San Antonio Spurs were a Stage 5 Team while Tim Duncan was there. 20 years of 50+ wins per season. It was incredible to watch.
Did you see the video of Ant announcing to Mike Conley that he won the award of NBA Teammate of the year? Those guys literally love Mike!! Great to see. They do want to win for him.
Miami can talk about the Culture sipping drinks in Cancun...Timberwolves Culture is real.
It won't be easy, but I think the Nuggets are not motivated to get a repeat championship. Joker looks tired, Murray is hurt and they are playing large minutes in round one. I wouldn't be surprised if we steal game one and then we can see what they are motivated to do.
KCP is hobbled too!
Write that down....Wolves will plays the Celtics in the finals. KG makes a showing but not in MN but at the Garden. Wolves win the chip in game 6. Prove me wrong!
Did you know Wolves only lost back to back games only 4 times all season. 2 of which happened when Towns was out. They never lost 3 games in a row!!
As a Wolves fan in Boston, I’ll be there.
@@OverEast34 You will have to let me know about that. Better see some Wolves gear in the stands...

Wolves in 5.
You crazy! Wolves in 6 😂
I'd say 6 but hell yeah!
Is it 2-3-2 format yet?
@@michaelswenson6599 No, I think it is 2-2-1-1-1 again
I’ve been waiting for this day for years….1st view, 1st like! Let’s go wolves! Flagrant rocks 👌🏼
Superstars elevate the confidence and performance of their teammates. Most important quality.
Im genuinely not worried one bit about the Wolves like anything now is a treat that i very much am looking forward to enjoying.
Keep that calender clear thru mid June.
The nuggets haven't beaten a team that is a 1, 2, or 3 seed since 2020. Why does NO ONE ever talk about this?
Is that true??
Because Jamal Murray was out for 21 and 22. And in 23 they can only beat the team that matches up against them in the playoffs
@@obi_po teams always have excuses. they had jamal murray last year and they played an 8th seed missing it's 5th and 6th best players. then played a 4th seeded suns. the series was tied 2-2 when chris paul went down. then played a 7th seeded lakers, and then a 8th seeded heat in the finals (yes really). Easiest run in NBA history i would say, and some people crown them as the 2007 spurs. I don't get it
@@kevinhearn5466I just don’t think you can fault the nuggets for beating teams they’re supposed to. I’ll agree that they aren’t the power house some people talk them up to be, but that’s the narrative you get when you’re a reigning champion with a good chance at another
Don’t do that because the 2-3 seed last yr were the grizzlies and kings both would’ve been easy for nuggets
When are the wolves going to get some love and finch is by far the coach of the year
I’ve been saying that for a few months. I bet if they beat the Nuggets, it’ll happen.
I think the OKC coach deserved CoY. They are a super young team that should still be rebuilding but yet they won the 1 seed
COTY should be decided after the finals. To not conisder the most important part of the season for coaching is woke as hell.
@@jeffe2222 What do you think woke means?
@@DAizzzzyable Being rewarded before you've done something to earn it. That's what.
The Timberwolves being so good we've gotten this wealth of Flagrant Howls content and im here for all of it
These wolves are some DAWGS. Win or lose I reckon they’re gonna be tough
I remember interview ant did where he said he liked playing away more than home he loved all the little kids talking trash to him!!!
Obviously super hyped for this team but need to see it against the Nuggets first. Not sure how much Suns series was them being a mess.
Nuggets aren't as good as they were last year, and we're not only better but healthier than last year as well. It'll be a dogfight but I'd still Say Wolves in 7
If Edwards can show that through the nuggets, I say Yes.👍
I knew Ant was special when he was drafted we have the same birthday but he’s 2 years older than me. August 5th is a special day I guess. Also the birthday of Patrick Ewing.
Most teams have a known weakness, but the T Wolves do not. Scoring could be, but not when they are truly on point and focused. Go Wolves.
Nate Jones topic thoughts:
"The Rudy Gobert trade is the only reason we're seeing Anthony Edwards get to do his thing on this stage already. It basically changed the trajectory and speed of the ascension of the franchise. They aren't this defensive juggernaut without that trade."
I agree with everything except it being the ONLY reason we're seeing Ant do his thing. People act like Ant wasn't on a stratospheric trajectory before we got Gobert.
From the moment the trade happened, it was a gamble made on the promising young foundation (Ant, KAT, Jaden, Naz) that Gersson Rosas n' co. had built being able to improve fast enough, along with trusting in Chris Finch (also Rosas hire) to meet the standards of a 3x DPOY. This team undeniably looks phenomenal right now, but let's also not get too far ahead of ourselves, ehhem Mackey ehhhehemmm ahh, got it. We have only accomplished a single playoff series win at this point. Those of us who believed that Ant was going to be this player regardless of whether Gobert was here or not still are holding much much higher standards for this team.
Matter of fact, I have to dig into some of the things you expanded upon off of Nate Jones's comment.
" 'You're cutting off the future - you're trading away all these future assets and first round picks . . . short term sugar high . . . cutting off the long-term tail of the franchise . . . expedite something that should not be expedited.' Ok, so, Gobert's going to make the team better."
^ To this I say yes, we did literally trade all of the future first round picks that we were capable of trading at the time. I never personally thought it was a short term sugar high or even that expediting a process around Ant and the aforementioned Rosas foundation were bad ideas personally either. Of course you build the best possible product around Ant. Again though, trading at the time 3 of our top 6 or 7 guys on the team (2 starters) and the entire war chest of firsts you possibly could, plus Kessler and a swap is betting a very large portion of the available assets just for ONE guy.
And your point about 'well, if it's a couple one and dones, you've still got KAT and Rudy to trade for future firsts from other teams' (paraphrased) - well, if it's a couple one and dones, then it's most likely because that pairing just didn't work out well enough, and maybe neither of their individual trade values is equal to all we gave up to get Rudy. It would be an admission of failure in the belief behind the trade. It would mean diminishing returns, and if KAT gets scapegoated (not all fans dislike and unfairly nitpick him as frivolously as you, Mackey) and gets traded, then you say "Screw you fans and your homegrown All-NBA product who wants to bring this state its first championship in honor of Flip and KG (and g*t dammit, even without the KG and Flip connection, how many All-NBA players have ever wanted to stay in MN....ESPECIALLY during all of the organizational incompetence that was still very prevalent everywhere around Towns basically his entire career prior to us getting Ant), we botched the Gobert trade, so your beloved KAT has to go now to recoup less in return"...f**k ALL OF THAT! And if that's the case, then those Anthony Edwards age 21, 22, 23 seasons end up being a waste not only of all those assets, but also of young Ant n' co.'s time during his most important years for growth. And what would our future actually look like then?? You say "Ant will be only 23 then, and won't even have peaked yet, and Jaden is only 23 years old." Sure, but his mindset could also be that we're a team that made a big swing and a miss with Rudy, and now he's seen his boys all get traded, first Rubio, then Beverley and Vanderbilt, and then KAT as a result of the botched Rudy trade...maybe he's looking elsewhere at that point. Maybe after playing this summer on the Olympic team, because no matter what, Rudy or not, HE WAS ALWAYS GOING TO BE THIS GOOD, he lets KD, Lebron and them old heads convince him that MN's no place to be if you wanna win...its always been a loser franchise...yada yada yada. Maybe it costs us Ant before he reaches that peak. Then, we're out Ant and all of those picks. How's that for a T-Wolves future? Sounds pretty Timberwolvesy to me. These things are all just as possible as any of the bright-eyed scenarios you are throwing out if the Rudy trade fails. Speculation can take you anywhere.
"Isn't that amazing that if you don't make that trade, they aren't beating the Suns in the first round, Anthony Edwards isn't exploding as a superstar the way that he has been. He's not playing the Nuggets in the 2nd round as a 22 yr old" - None of these things are provable. If you remember correctly, the team we had prior to getting Rudy had damn near (and really should have) upset the #2 seed Grizzlies in the West. Our team's trajectory 2 years ago was already that of a 2nd round contender or better...prior to Rudy. Ant was already a stud in the making. Who cares if national media hadn't caught on yet...it was never going to stop Ant's career trajectory. He's been this dude. A1 from Day 1 baby. And YOU KNOW THIS, MAAAAAN. Or at least y'all should have. Damn.
And I get that the Gobert trade has been a pivotal part of this team's success this year. I"m certainly not denying the impact he's had. But to say its the ONLY reason we are in the position we are today just severely undercuts the scope of improvement this franchise has been going through in so many other areas over the last handful of seasons. I think that Gersson Rosas had set this team up REALLY (acquired and unlocked Finchy) REALLY (drafted Ant, Jaden and found our diamond in the rough 6MOY Naz) REALLY (Had maintained all of our future 1st round draft picks and a chunky amount of absorbable cap space with a promising, well-balanced young roster) well to succeed. I think that Ant was going to be this guy since the day we drafted him, and certainly even way before that. I think Connelly's other moves around the margins, which deserve mounds of credit - swapping shitty-decision-making, pace-slowing, non-defense--playing, corrosive-attitude-having D Lo for a true floor general of the highest caliber in Mike Conley and a completely reborn (this is also thanks to Finch and the development staff, who in their own right deserve so much credit!) NAW, and of course then getting them both to re-sign on insanely team-friendly deals, along with Naz's contract - have also done a lot to secure this team's present and future. Team development/trainers/physicians/etc. have to be top-3 in the league easily, which is the exact opposite of where it was prior to basically A-Rod and Lore.
The nuances of the Rudy Gobert trade will slowly be lost to the passing of time, whether for better or worse. But these revisionist-history/nuance-lacking narratives surrounding the Gobert trade and it's impact on the team's future that you love to run with do get under my skin, Mackey. And shoot, honestly, I'm prepared to have to eat crow for one or two of the less-nuanced takes/criticisms I had of the Gobert trade back when it all went down myself. 100%. And I absolutely hope to, too. Gimme all the crow I can handle, cuz if some of my less-thought-out comments on some of your old videos come to fruition, then I'll be eating crow on the throne, and it'll be SO WORTH IT.
All love! Thank you guys for continuing to provide thought-provoking content!
Edit: Judd touches on some of the things I wrote about above too, as well as Finchy's role in making all the pieces fit together this year. Massive difference-maker there with how Finch has implemented all the pieces together so well! Shout out to that part of the conversation.
Yes, he is.
The Nuggets never lost a step, they’re still the defending champs.
The biggest difference? Wolves are HERE, ANT is HERE now. We’ve taken a major step and closed the gap between us and Denver.
It's all lined up in front of us. and not getting that 1 seed may be an actual advantage. This type of defense travels(shoutout Big Perk for being on this all year) and we have a guy at 22 who LIVES for taking souls on opponents home court. Dunk of Year happened in Utah, Block of the Year in Indy. That game 3 and 4 (gonna see those highlights for years) sending your boyhead hero on vacation happened in Phx. Denvers home court advantage isnt as large as it once was against this team.
Would you consider the 5th player off the board in a 2020 redraft being Jaden McDaniels?
I honestly think Wolves win in 5 or 6,
ANT has the ALPHA DOG "IT" factor for sure. He's not backing down from anyone.
it's the way the wolves play defense i agree, makes me cautiously optimistic. the lakers let them get back into those games. it won't so easy this round.
Element of surprise, I'm thinking the wolves take game one, and then it's on from there.
What stage is Jokic? "Apathetic excellence, with a surrounding cast so befuddled by his amivalence, they work their asses of to attempt to rise to the level of a beerswigging horse peddler who always seems to come back better."?
The bulls were definitely not a stage five team lol.
I mean kudos for Phil Jackson preventing egos causing team collapses but both the Lakers and Bulls had huge divides by the end of their runs
The Wolves are the deepest team left in the playoffs. Between Rudy, Kat and Naz we have a serious advantage upfront this year. Last year we didn't have Naz or Jaden. And I don't think Denver has an answer for Ant now. Jaden is the difference on the defensive end. We have to stop Porter Jr and not let him get going. I say the Wolves win in 6.
Lets get game 1
Naw and Conley trade mixed with the gobert trade made timberwolves a legit contender.
Recouping some picks from Utah, one of which became Leonard Miller was big. NAW essentially being a freebie in the Conley trade was icing on the cake. The KD/Beal trades will age worse than the Gobert haul.
LOB? What does that stand for?
2014 Draft #40 Timberwolves Glenn Robinson III, #41 Nikola Jokic
He’s 22 Damnit @Judd
Lets wait until he wins a championship or the mvp like jokic..but Anthony Edward is a good player 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Ant could probably persuade Jokic to lose so that Jokic can go back to tending his horses lol
At least this year ...this is Rudy's team. If we win a championship it's going to be primarily because he dominated in the 2nd round and beyond.
Ant Man is not the next Kobe because Ant is likeable. Kobe had that condescending, faux charm aura about him that helped put him into top villain status of the era. MJ on the other hand was like James Bond in basketball shoes. Who didn't love Mike.
I didn't... I was a Detroit Pistons fan.... I think Edwards is more Kobe like, I don't think his efficiency will be on Mike's level..
Well regarding the title , he needs couple thousands more breakfasts , to put him in the same sentence with MJ .
Thank Gerson, we drafted Ant. I can only imagine the size of this dumpster fire otherwise. This team would probably have been relocated to another city like Seattle.
Nobody is being relocated. Hasn't happened in the NBA in 16 years. Most owners agree with Silver on expansion of two teams, probably Vegas and Seattle. All the 30 other owners get a check out of the deal and it helps with the wealth of talent in the league. The NBA is invested in having a franchise here. Plus I doubt Minnesota would let two NBA teams leave the state. Also thank you to Gerson, we easily could have whiffed on Kuminga or gone for the flash in the pan LaMelo
I think all of this premature media hype and name staking to ant will get to his head but this MFer is soaking it all in and made for it.
As long as none of the players are hurt i'm fine 😂
But but but.... i thought 2 bigs lineups could never work?
Yet when it does Finch doesn't win coty. Insanity
I agree. But to be fair, the Thunder have no business being as good as they did. Thunder got insane production out of guys like Lu Dort, Isaiah Joe, Casan Wallace, Aaron Wiggins, and they are a top 10 defensive and offensive team. I think Finch inherited way too much talent to begin with, but yes him integrating the 2 big lineup is EXTREMELY impressive.

Nuggets are a different animal suns are just good shooters so is not easy for the wolves to beat the nuggets 😊😊😊😊
